I would like to stress a few points.

First, would it be possible to publish the details of the program as
soon as possible ? 21th to 25th of February means 5 full days. It is

possible for most developers to attend this whole period. In order to

allow to focus on the most adapted days for each of us.

Second, I think we should be more careful on the dates for the

meetings. It is the third time in a row that QGIS developer meeting
takes place during school holidays ( in France and other European
countries at least).
I know that finding dates for such a (big) event is very difficult, and
depends on a lot of external parameters. Holidays especially can be
different for different countries. But a quick check may be useful to
allow for more people to come without them having to cancel holidays
with their families.
Note that this was particularly true for the event organized on May 
1st,

which is a mandatory day off in most countries in the world.

In the same spirit, please have the codesprint where you want 
developers

to attend on week days and not during the weekend. QGIS developers are
paid professionals, and working on weekend is an exception which should
be reduced to the minimum.

This points are probably worth discussing, and I hope we will have this
opportunity in Madeira.

priority given to active contributors to the QGIS project.

index instead of normal views.

I have a project with ORACLE data in QGIS 2.4.

When I load the geometries from a table which has a spatial index, the 
data display is fast and query information is displayed at once.


When I create a view (add an entry to SDO_GEOM_METADATA) and add the 
view to QGIS it is very slow and query information is slow too.


It looks like the spatial index from the table is not used.

Do you have an idea what I can do to get better performance?

The annual FOSSGIS Conference will be from 19th to 21st March 2014 in
Berlin at the Beuth Hochschule für Technik Berlin.

The FOSSGIS Conference 2014 is organized by FOSSGIS e.V (German language
local chapter of the OSGeo), the OpenStreetMap Community and the Open
Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) in cooperation with the Beuth
Hochschule für Technik Berlin.

The FOSSGIS-conference is the largest german-language conference for Free
and Open Source Software for GIS and Free Geodata hosting about 400
participants. FOSSGIS offers lots of presentations and workshops
concerning FOSSGIS, Open Data, OpenStreetMap and more.

Sehr geehrte FOSSGISler und FOSSGISlerinnen,

Neuigkeiten und Hintergründe zu Technologien und Entwicklungen aus dem
Bereich Open-Source-Geo-Software und freien Geodaten werden dieses Jahr
auf der FOSSGIS 2014 in Berlin präsentiert. Die FOSSGIS und
deutschsprachige OpenStreetMap Konferenz 2014 – die größte
deutschsprachige Anwenderkonferenz für freie Geo-Informationssysteme und
freie Geodaten – findet vom 19. bis 21. März 2014 statt.

Mehr als 60 Vorträge für Einsteiger, Experten und Entwickler, Hands-On
Workshops und Anwendertreffen geben einen Einblick in aktuelle
Anwendungsmöglichkeiten und Neuigkeiten. Der Themenbogen spannt sich von
der Datenaufbereitung in OpenStreetMap, über den Aufbau von
Geodateninfrastrukturen bis hin zu Technologien zur Prozessierung und
Darstellung von umfangreichen Geodaten. Damit spiegelt sich auch der
Trend der steigenden Durchdringung des Internets mit Karten und Geodaten
wieder. Über die gleichzeitig stattfindende Firmenausstellung ist ein
direkter Kontakt zu Dienstleistern, die professionelle Unterstützung
bieten, möglich. Das Programm ist veröffentlicht auf der

Zusätzlich zum fachlich orientierten Austausch in Community-Sessions
und Entwicklertreffen findet ein Social-Event in Form einer
Abendveranstaltung statt, um den Austausch aller Beteiligten - vom
Benutzer über Entwickler und Mapper bis zum Entscheider - zu
intensivieren und gegenseitig von Ideen und Herausforderungen zu lernen.
Die Abendveranstaltung läuft in diesem Jahr unter dem Motto: weniger
ist mehr und wird 25 EUR kosten. Die Anzahl der Teilnehmer ist begrenzt
auf 199 und die Anmeldung erfolgt über das Webformular im
TN-Anmeldesystem des FOSSGIS e.V.

Die Konferenzgebühr beläuft sich für die gesamten drei Konferenztage
auf 140,- EUR. Frühbucher zahlen hierbei bis zum 05.02.2014 nur 120,-

besucht werden. Die Teilnahmegebühr für Workshops beträgt 100,- EUR
(Frühbucher 90,- EUR) pro Teilnehmer und Workshop. Alle Einnahmen gehen

Die FOSSGIS Konferenz 2015 sucht einen Veranstaltungsort!

Die FOSSGIS-Konferenz ist die größte deutschsprachige Konferenz zu Freier
und Open Source GIS-Software und Freien Geodaten und OpenStreetMap.

Wir erinnern uns gerne an die FOSSGIS Konferenzen der letzten Jahre. Jeder
Besuch war eine Reise wert und hat einen bleibenden Eindruck hinterlassen.

bei Sonnenschein an der HSR Hochschule für Technik in Rapperswil in der
Schweiz statt. Mehr als 400 Besucher aus dem In- und Ausland kamen, um

[Qgis-user] OpenSource-Park auf der Intergeo in Essen vom 8.-10. Oktober 2013

Der OpenSource-Park auf der Intergeo wächst weiter! In diesem Jahr
findet die Intergeo [1] vom 8. bis 10. Oktober in Essen statt. Der
OpenSource-Park befindet sich in Halle 1, Stand Nr. H1.033. Das
OpenStreetMap Projekt ist mit dem Stand  H1.040 gleich neben dem
OpenSource-Park vertreten..

Auch auf der diesjährigen Hauptmesse der Geo-Informatik-Branche, der
Intergeo, wird es wieder eine zentrale Anlaufstelle für alle Besucher
geben, die sich über professionelle OpenSource-Anwendungen informieren
wollen. Die Zahl der ausstellenden Firmen auf dem OpenSource-Park ist
gegenüber dem Vorjahr nochmals um 50% angewachsen. Damit spiegelt die
Messebeteiligung auch den über die Jahre stetig anwachsenden Marktanteil
quelloffener Lösungen wieder. Die Bedeutung von OpenSource-Software
steigt nach unseren Beobachtungen von Jahr zu Jahr an, bestätigt
Projektleiter Daniel Katzer von der HINTE GmbH, die die INTERGEO für den
DVW ausrichtet.

In diesem Jahr sind Firmen aus ganz Deutschland und der Schweiz auf dem
OpenSource-Park vertreten. Die Schwerpunkte der ausstellenden Firmen
liegen bei den Themen Performance-Optimierung für große Datenmengen,
schnelle und umfassende Suchfunktionen über verteilte Datenbestände,
Lösungen für die Ver- und Entsorgungsbranche, Geoportale für Unternehmen
und Behörden, und natürlich im Bereich spezialisierter Beratungsleistungen.

Insgesamt steht damit auf dem OpenSource-Park ein Wissenspool zur
Verfügung, der nicht nur alle gängigen Bereiche der räumlichen
Datenverarbeitung umfasst, sondern daneben auch zahlreiche spezifische
Themen und Branchenlösungen bereithält.

Der FOSSGIS e.V. [2] versorgt Sie gerne mit Informationen rund um freie
Software aus dem GIS Bereich und freie Geodaten. Zahlreiche Projekte
sind über die OSGeo (Open Source Geospatial Foundation) [3] vertreten.

Sie forschen, Sie entwickeln, Sie beschäftigen sich mit
Open-Source-Geo-Software oder freien Geodaten? Sie haben neue Ideen in
diesem Themenbereich oder sind bereits dabei, freie Software und freie
Geodaten zu nutzen oder zu entwickeln? Dann sind Sie auf unserer
Konferenz - der FOSSGIS-Konferenz 2014 - genau richtig [1].

WIR BIETEN: Eine Plattform für Ihre Idee, Ihr Projekt, Ihren
Erfahrungsbericht auf der größten deutschsprachigen Anwenderkonferenz
für freie Geoinformationssysteme und freie Geodaten. Im Jahr 2014 findet
die FOSSGIS vom 19. bis 21. März auf dem Gelände der Beuth Hochschule
für Technik in Berlin statt. Wir rechnen mit über 400 Teilnehmern. An
der Konferenz 2013 in Rapperswil (Schweiz) nahmen über ca. 350 Besucher

ABSTRACT: Die Einreichung eines Abstracts für die FOSSGIS 2014 ist ab
sofort bis zum 15. November 2013 über unsere Konferenzsoftware Pentabarf
möglich [2].
Beitrags-Einreichungen ohne Abstract müssen leider abgelehnt werden, da
sich das Programm-Komitee anhand des Abstracts ein Bild von Inhalt und
Relevanz des Beitrags macht. Der Abstract sollte ca. 1500 Zeichen
umfassen. Ob die Einreichung angenommen wurde, wird im Dezember 2013
bekanntgegeben. Es besteht die Möglichkeit einen Lightning Talk
einzureichen. Ein Lightning Talk ist eine kurze, knackige
Auseinandersetzung mit einem Thema, welches in 5 Minuten, gern
humorvoll, Anregung zur Diskussion bietet. Weiterhin können Poster
eingereicht werden.

*Workshops: Bitte berücksichtigen Sie bei der Planung, dass
für die Workshops nur 90 Minuten vorgesehen sind und die Teilnehmer ein
Mix aus Theorie und vor allem Praxis erwarten. Die Beschreibung des
Workshops soll erreichbare Lernziele und die notwendigen Vorkenntnisse
der Teilnehmer enthalten. Ein Workshop findet ab einer Teilnehmerzahl
von 5 statt.

The FOSSGIS-conference is the largest german-language conference for
Free and Open Source Software for GIS and Free Geodata hosting about 400
participants.

Today, the Conference Committee announced the Call for papers for
2014. Because the conference-language is german, the CfP is either.

The program committee will, however, also consider applications for
talks or workshops held in English if they are deeemed to add to the
quality of the conference. So if you don't speak German, but are a
FOSS/Open Data celebrity, or have a story that only you can tell, please
do submit your talk. We are unlikely to be able to provide interpreters,
but we'll make sure you don't get lost in Berlin.

Please be aware that you can submit paper until November, 15. 2013. You
can submit your abstract using our Conference Software [2].

We are looking forward to see you in Berlin March 19-21.

Liebe FOSSGIS-Commutity, Liebe FOSSGIS-Interessierte,

noch bis 04. Juni läuft die elektronische Teilnehmeranmeldung [1] für die
diesjährige FOSSGIS-Konferenz [2] an der HSR in Rapperswil (Schweiz).

Das Programmkommitee hat auch für dieses Jahr ein interessantes
Konferenz-Programm
mit Vorträgen und Workshops zusammengestellt [3].
Alle sind herzlich eingeladen, an der Konferenz teilzunehmen und sich im
Community-Umfeld auszutauschen.
Zum fachlichen Austausch mit anderen TeilnehmerInnen und zur Stärkung
zwischen den
Vorträgen sind 30 min Pausenzeit mit Kaffe/Tee/Snacks vorgesehen, aber
auch die
Abendveranstaltung (Social Event, bei der Anmeldung buchbar [1]) kann
dafür gerne

[Qgis-user] How to digitze points, linestrings, polygons in a single PostGIS geometry-column

Hello,

in a project I want to handle in one PostgreSQl/PostGIS table different
geometrytypes (POINT, LINESTRING, POLYGON or even MULTI-objects) in a
single geometrycolumn.

Then I would like to digitize with QGIS new objects. Is this possible?

I tried it already but in QGIS it is not possible to select the
different geometrytypes although I already have different geometrytypes
in the table.

I tried with the TYPE GEOMETRYCOLLECTION too, but QGIS seams not to
support this at all.

I am using PostGIS 1.5 and QGIS 1.8.0.

 There were two problems with that:  External images didn't work at all and 
 also
 references to SSL sites without a verifyable certificate didn't work.

 With c7fb23079 it works now.   At the same time I also reworked the context
 menu so that the print entry is now added to the default menu (instead of
 replacing it completely) and enabled the Inspect entry in debug builds.

we tested the new CSI WMS Legend plugin a bit more and noticed that it
does not support https-Requests for WMS.

Is support for https-requests not implemented yet?

[Qgis-user] How to display WMS legend (getLegendGraphic-request) in QGIS

Hello,

I am using WMS in QGIS and would like to diplay the legend from the
getLegendGraphic-request in my application.

Is there a possibility to do this?

If not, was this discussed before? And is there a concept to implement
this feature? Maybe we could support the implementation.

Geodaten zu nutzen oder zu entwickeln? Dann bist du auf unserer
Konferenz - der FOSSGIS-Konferenz 2013 - genau richtig.

WIR BIETEN: Eine Plattform für deine Idee, dein Projekt, deinen
Erfahrungsbericht auf der größten deutschsprachigen Anwenderkonferenz
für freie Geoinformationssysteme und freie Geodaten. Im Jahr 2013 findet
die FOSSGIS vom 12. bis 14. Juni auf dem Gelände der HSR Hochschule für
Technik in Rapperswil in der Schweiz statt. An der Konferenz 2012 nahmen
ca. 400 Besucher teil.

WIR SUCHEN: Deine Idee. Dein Projekt. Deinen Erfahrungsbericht. Dein
Thema. Genauer gesagt, suchen wir anspruchsvolle Vorträge, spannende
Diskussionen, praxisorientierte Workshops für unser Programm. Vorträge
zum Thema freie Geodaten, zum Beispiel OpenStreetMap, sind ebenso
möglich wie beispielsweise Beiträge zu Softwarelösungen aus dem Bereich
WebGIS, Desktop GIS, Geodatenbanken oder Location-Based-Services. Bewirb
dich jetzt mit deinem Vortrag, deinem Lightning Talk oder deinem
Workshop beim Call for Papers.

ABSTRACT - Die Einreichung deines Abstracts für die FOSSGIS 2013 ist ab
sofort bis zum 31. Januar 2013 möglich. Beitrags-Einreichungen ohne
Abstract müssen leider abgelehnt werden, da sich das Programm-Komitee so
kein Bild von Inhalt und Relevanz deines Beitrags machen kann. Dein
Abstract sollte ca. 1500 Zeichen umfassen. Ob deine Einreichung
angenommen wurde, erfährst du ca. im Februar 2013. Neben einem
kompletten Vortrag besteht auch die Möglichkeit einen Lightning Talk
einzureichen. Dies ist eine Kurzpräsentationen beschränkt auf 5 Minuten.
Ein Lightning Talk dient der Auseinandersetzung mit einem Thema, dem –
gerne auch humorvoll gemeinten – Hinweis auf eine Problemstellung oder
zur Anregung einer Diskussion. Neben den beschriebenen Vorträgen können
auch Poster zur Konferenz eingereicht werden.

WER WIR SIND - Veranstaltet wird die Konferenz vom FOSSGIS e.V., von der
OSGeo Foundation und der HSR Hochschule für Technik Rapperswil Schweiz).
