Expect nothing but surprises and bewilderment when working with that monopolized GIS company. =D You can work in WGS84, or GRS80. I would project them it to another coordinate system with ARC. Can you project them to a geographic coordinate system like EPSG: 4326 (WGS84), or projected coordinate system? Re: [Qgis-user] Coordinates in map units are different between ArcInfo and Qgis
If you fire up ArcEdit what are the coordinates at some comparable location in QGIS? (as opposed to the coordinates usage in AML) Or if you view the A/I coverage in another software like ArcView 3.x/ArcMap, are the coordinates the same in QGIS? Maybe try converting your coverage to a shapefile, and see if there is a difference? Another option is to set no coordinate system, or disable 'project on the fly', and see what the coordinates are for the data. Just some suggestions, I really cant explain why there difference. AFAIK, A/I coverages shouldnt matter, but they are rather archaic. [Qgis-user] Build QGIS with GRASS - Mint 18/xenial
Hi all. I have tried several ways to get QGIS with GRASS browser working. I had it working at one point on Linux Mint 17/Trusty, but always with mixed results (I could never get it working from the repos, but sometimes it would work compiling from source). I did a fresh install of linux Mint 18, and I am coming up with these results. Repos: Tried ubuntugis-unstable repo. Installed all qgis/grass related packages - cant browse GRASS locations Added repo from qgis.org for 2.16 debian builds. Installed all qgis/grass related packages - cant browse GRASS locations Source: (followed this page https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/blob/master/INSTALL ) Compiled from source, and installed in home directory - cant browse GRASS locations. I could see it linking the grass libraries during compilation and it seems it built ok, but I dont know how to check and make sure. Built .deb packages from source and installed (using above web link) - with this one the GRASS browser plugin was working, but any attempt to load other plugins resulted in an error (cant load module xyz). Building the .deb packages had errors, but not sure how to address them. Interestingly, when I compile from source, then go into the /output/bin directory and run qgis from there, it launches and the GRASS browser works. (?) Since grass 7, I've always had hit and miss results with QGIS and the GRASS browser. This is one feature I really enjoy and find great value in getting QGIS and GRASS to work together. Any suggestions on what I can do to see what I'm doing wrong? Hi. 1. Is this the only FOSSGIS option we have, if breaklines should be considerered during interpolation? Or are there alternatives? [Qgis-user] QGIS / GRASS compatibility
I've been following this for a while, and see on the crowdfunding page QGIS is reading GRASS layers successfully, but I cant get my QGIS to browse GRASS vector or raster data (or add it). I have QGIS 2.12 and GRASS 7.1. I have purged all qgis* and reinstalled with qgis-provider-grass and qgis-plugin-grass. When I browse GRASS locations in QGIS browser, I dont see the directories converted to GRASS icons like in the demo ( http://www.gissula.eu/qgis-grass-plugin-crowdfunding/progress.html). I realize there is no plugin to add layers like historically, but using the browser QGIS doesnt seem to recognize the GRASS location/mapset or layers. I am sure I am missing something simple? Here is a startup error I get in the plugin console. I have attempted to resolve, but I dont understand what the issue is, other than the obvious: it's looking for libraries that are not on my system. 2015-10-26T16:37:38 1 Failed to load /usr/lib/qgis/plugins/libgrassplugin6.so (Reason: Cannot load library /usr/lib/qgis/plugins/libgrassplugin6.so: (libgrass_vect.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)) 2015-10-26T16:37:38 1 Failed to load /usr/lib/qgis/plugins/libgrassprovider6.so (Reason: Cannot load library /usr/lib/qgis/plugins/libgrassprovider6.so: (libgrass_vect.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)) 2015-10-26T16:37:38 1 Failed to load /usr/lib/qgis/plugins/libgrassrasterprovider6.so (Reason: Cannot load library /usr/lib/qgis/plugins/libgrassrasterprovider6.so: (libgrass_vect.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)) Thanks for any help! I never was able to fix my installation, but I think there was something about the qgis-mapserver package name vs. qgis-server package name that got it working. I re-installed everything from ubuntu-unstable repo and all went well. The name got changed at some point to reduce confusion about the Mapserver software.
