[Qgis-user] Create a polygon with a specific area size
Dear all, I want to create a polygon of a specific size. Currently I am working rather "hands on". As long as it is a rectangle and I provide either length or width, I can calculate the other one and do a construction with the advanced digitizing tool. But is there a way, that I construct a more complex polygon and define the area beforehand or scale it to a certain area afterwards. To my understanding the polygon scaling requires a factor. I cannot scale to a certain area size in square meters. Is there another function I haven't found yet? I am using QGIS 3.34.4. Best regards and thank you so much in advance! [Qgis-user] Several users working with one project file - warning
Dear QGIS-users, we are several people, sometimes working on the same QGIS-project without knowing it. Unfortunately you never get a warning that anyone else is currently working on the project, when opening the project file. That is why I would like to generate a warning, that person xy is working on the project. I did some research and came to this page, where the suggestion is to write a macro, which looks for lock files in the project directory: https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/186309/open-qgis-project-files-in-exclusive-mode-alert-if-project-file-already-in-use Moreover this was already an issue 4 years ago: https://issues.qgis.org/issues/14717 Seems that it has not been fixed yet? Unfortunately my QGIS does not even write a lock file in the working directory. And I always get the warning that macros are currently not working. Do you have any other ideas how to solve this problem? Or any idea, how to get QGIS to write this lock file? I am working with QGIS 3.10.11 on a Windows 10 Pro Version 20H2. But it would be too time consuming to do that for every forest, as I usually have rather 10 forests or more. Is there a way to get this done if all forests are in one csv-dataset only separated by there forest_id? Thank you and sorry for the first mail, which was not yet finished. [Qgis-user] Problem loading ArcGIS georeferenced map in QGIS 2.8
Hi, I have an old ArcGIS project, that was build before we switched to QGIS. I have already worked on it with my older QGIS versions (<= 2.6) and added new shape files to an ArcGIS georeferenced map. Now I opened it with my new QGIS version 2.8. My shape layers are displayed correctly but my old ArcGIS maps are not shown underneath the shape layers. I can zoom to them, but they suddenly have a completely different projection (a strange user CRS), while the original EPSG of the project is 31466 (Gauss-Krueger Zone2). Does anyone have similar problems? Or a solution? I have already looked into the ticket list, but could not find anything. [Qgis-user] Loading rectangular raster data in QGIS
Dear all, I am trying to load a raster file containing rectangular cells into QGIS. The header looks like this: ncols 97 nrows 60 xllcorner 276591.68 yllcorner 5539072.48 cellsize 58.198 , 87.623 NODATA_value - QGIS displays the cells as squares, even though they are rectangular. This leads to a distorted image in QGIS. How can display the cells in their original rectangular shape? Unfortunately I cannot find anything in the internet. Thanks for your help! Hi Ross, yes, the snapping was enabled in the settings. I disabled it, now it works. [Qgis-user] [QGIS] Problems creating a line in QGIS
Dear QGIS-Users, I want to create a line in QGIS characterizing a street. I have a georeferenced GoogleEarth map as background. At first I create a new shape file (line, decimal numbers). It occurs in my layer list and I click 'Toggle Editing' and 'Create a new object'. Recently I could start to create my new line by clicking along the street. Now it's impossible. My mouse does not align with the pink cross. When I click the first time, the point of my line appears where the pink cross is and not where I click with the mouse. The position of the pink cross is completely random. Did anyone ever have this problem and knows a solution? Is something wrong with my settings? Thank you very much for your help! Best regards, Nicole ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user
Re: [Qgis-user] Problems with RGB channels for jpg
Dear Otto, thanks for your help! In the settings the green channel was set to 0. Following your advice I changed it to 2. Now it works. [Qgis-user] Problems with RGB channels for jpg
Dear all, I seem to have a problem loading a jpg or other picture formats in QGIS. If I drag and drop a jpg to QGIS, the green channel is not defined in the properties which makes the jpg pink. I can add it manually in the properties, but first the picture is pink by default. If my colleagues load the same picture, they don't have this problem. There the red, green and blue channel are found by QGIS. I am using a QGIS 2.4 (same as my colleagues) but the problem already occurred in my old QGIS version. Furthermore I am using an ubuntu 12.04 on 64 bit machine. Did anybody ever hear of this problem or also had it himself? Thanks for your help!
