Good morning,
I would like to make a few comments.
In the old site of QGIS.org it was possible to immediately display, in the
home, the current version and the version of the LTR.
In my opinion these are important indications because they help the new
user to navigate with the various versions.
Currently it is difficult to understand what is the current version and the
LTR version, that is, you must first browse the whole site to understand
that you need to go to the menu Resources | roadmap.

I always use OSgeo4W, the data update that caused me to lose the data was
done via the field calculator.

Hi Emma,
Thanks for the reply.

As I wrote in the initial email, there are many variables at play and I
cannot always reproduce the problem, opening an issue in these conditions
is not the best choice as it would be closed immediately.

I will try to understand the problem better and maybe in the future I will
open an issue.

I wrote the email so that other users could be careful if they used this
format.

I use OSGeo4W on win 11 64 bit and got the problem in QGIS 3.28 and 3.34

For work I use both QGIS and ArcGIS PRO 3.2.2, I noticed that by modifying
the FileGDBs created by ArcGIS PRO in QGIS:
1. saving is particularly slow;
2. I often lose data, i.e. if I have an active data selection and I try to
update only the selection, QGIS updates the entire dataset resulting in
data loss.

I have already noticed the malfunctioning of FileGDB in QGIS for some time,
but I want to leave this trace, unfortunately it is not easy to reproduce.

I followed this guide [1], but as soon as I click on calculate appears (in
the mapcanvas) the message that you need to install the grid.
Clicking on install, I inserted the path that points to the grilled,
from me gives results ok.

[Qgis-user] How to read a GeoRSS in QGIS by URI?

If I open a GeoRSS in a Browser and save it as xml and then drag it into
QGIS, I can see the live vectors.

But how can I read the same content using the URI directly?

I tried from Data Source Manager | Vector | HTTP(S) protocol, but it
doesn't work: Wrong data source

What does the real value of Sliver polygon represent?
- it's not the area of the polygon
- it's not the perimeter
- is not the area of the bounding box

so I ask if anyone can tell me what it represents, I can't find anything

I want to report a bug present in all current versions of QGIS (3.22.5 LTR,
3.24.1 AND MASTER); it is a blocking bug in my opinion as well as being a
regression, the bug is described here [0].

Also, I understand that it takes time to fix the problem and therefore you
need to raise money to pay for a developer time.

I ask the community:

1. Does anyone have experience with fundraising campaigns?
2. How to get an estimate to understand the amount to be raised?

Hi Andrea,
I finally understood the mistake.
First you need to create the 'zona_fill2' field and then populate it with
the expression:

if ("zone" is empty,
attribute (get_feature_by_id (@layer, $ id -1),
'zona_fill2'), "area")

So the mistake I was making is using a virtual field (maybe it's a bug?)

how to repeat the first non-null value down so that all cells are populated?
this operation is called fill-down and in SQL I can get it like this:

select b.data, b.rowid,
   b.zona,  b.nuts2,
  (select a.zona
   from fill_down_es as a
   where a.rowid <= b.rowid  
   and 
   a.zona <> 'NULL' 
   order by rowid desc limit 1 )  as zona_fill2
from fill_down_es as b

I'm looking for a way to do this with QGIS expressions.

[Qgis-user] Fill-down with QGIS expressions

I have a CSV file [0], how to get the "zona_fill" field?
The "zona_fill" field is the result of the fill-down of the "zona" column.

I could use various tools external to QGIS, but it would be useful to be
able to do this with field calc expressions;

does anyone have any ideas on how to make it? or would it be a good idea to
make a function that does the fill-down?

you need to set this variable:

export QT_QPA_PLATFORM = 'offscreen'

runtime-pigreco'
qt.qpa.screen: QXcbConnection: Could not connect to display
Could not connect to any X display.

how can i fix it ??
