Re: [Qgis-user] Creating Rectangle Around Central Point
Hi Mike, you can use QAD plugin, run POLYGON command to draw a regular polygon. The command will ask the following parameters: Enter number of sides <4>: 4 Specify center of polygon or [Edge]: Enter an option [Inscribed in circle/Circumscribed about circle/Area] : Circumscribed about circle Specify the circle radius <100>: 100 The radius of the circle will correspond to the square dimension. if the center of the polygon is specified in a coordinate reference system different from the current one: - if the coordinate reference system is projected: enter x,y (SRID). For example 1491621.64817, 4915622.63154 (EPSG:3003) is a point with coordinate X=1491621.64817 and Y=4915622.63154 in the projected coordinate reference system EPSG:3003 - if the coordinate reference system is geographic: enter latitude, longitude (SRID). For example 44º 24' 48N/ 08º 50' 15E (EPSG:4326) is a point with latitude 44 degrees 24 minutes 48 seconds and longitude 6 degrees 50 minutes 15 seconds in the geographic coordinate reference system EPSG:4326. gam17 > Good Morning > > I am trying to create a square 1km X 1km around a central point that > has GPS coordinates. > > I have tried every suggestion and plugin suggested but am struggling. > > This is intended to be used with students as part of their science > field work once I figure out what I am doing wrong. > > Thank you in advance for your help. > > Mike Jabot > > * > > Michael Jabot, Ph.D. > SUNY Distinguished Professor, Science Education > > US Partner - GLOBE Program > > NASA Earth Ambassador > > Director, Institute for Research in Science Teaching > > Chancellor's Award Recipient for Excellence in Research > The State University of New York at Fredonia > > 716.320-0189 (Google Voice) > > ja...@fredonia.edu > > E250 Thompson Hall > 280 Central Avenue > > Fredonia, NY 14063 > * > ___ > Qgis-user mailing list > Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org > List info: https://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user > Unsubscribe: https://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org List info: https://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user Unsubscribe: https://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user

Give a try! gam17 Il 2016-05-18 18:43 Franco Cazzola ha scritto: Problem using dimension plugin in Qgis 2.10.1 Pisa I am not able to insert dimensioning feature between two selected vertex points Two steps: - insert two vertex point - use Draw dimensioning icon to draw the dimension feature After filling the attribute dimension and select the Add key in the form, I get the following message: Errore durante l'esecuzione di codice Python: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:/Users/user1/.qgis2/python/plugins\dimensioning\dimensioning.py", line 121, in calculateDimensioning tools.utils.addGeometryToDimensionLayer( f, "help" ) File "C:/Users/user1/.qgis2/python/plugins\dimensioning\tools\utils.py", line 35, in addGeometryToDimensionLayer QgsMapLayerRegistry().instance().addMapLayer(vl, True) TypeError: qgis._core.QgsMapLayerRegistry cannot be instantiated or sub-classed Versione Python: 2.7.5 (default, May 15 2013, 22:44:16) [MSC v.1500 64 bit (AMD64)] Versione di QGIS: 2.10.1-Pisa Pisa, d20c5b7 Percorso Python: ['C:/Users/user1/.qgis2/python/plugins\\processing', 'C:/PROGRA~1/QGISPI~1/apps/qgis/./python', u'C:/Users/user1/.qgis2/python', u'C:/Users/user1/.qgis2/python/plugins', 'C:/PROGRA~1/QGISPI~1/apps/qgis/./python/plugins', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages\\matplotlib-1.3.1-py2.7-win-amd64.egg', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages\\nose-1.3.3-py2.7.egg', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages\\tornado-4.0.1-py2.7-win-amd64.egg', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages\\backports.ssl_match_hostname-3.4.0.2-py2.7.egg', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages\\certifi-14.05.14-py2.7.egg', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\bin\\python27.zip', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\DLLs', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\plat-win', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\lib-tk', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\bin', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages\\PIL', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages\\jinja2-2.7.2-py2.7.egg', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages\\markupsafe-0.23-py2.7-win-amd64.egg', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages\\pytz-2012j-py2.7.egg', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages\\win32', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages\\win32\\lib', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages\\Pythonwin', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages\\Shapely-1.2.18-py2.7-win-amd64.egg', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages\\six-1.3.0-py2.7.egg', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages\\wx-2.8-msw-unicode', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages\\xlrd-0.9.2-py2.7.egg', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\Python27\\lib\\site-packages\\xlwt-0.7.5-py2.7.egg', u'C:/Users/user1/.qgis2//python', 'C:\\PROGRA~1\\QGISPI~1\\apps\\qgis\\python\\plugins\\fTools\\tools', 'C:/Applicazioni/AMGA_Legnano_ReteGas'] Tks for all contribution Ing. Re: [Qgis-user] Create rectangle with minLat,maxLat,minLon,maxLon
Hi, you can use a plugin called QAD (https://github.com/geosim/QAD). code repository is here: https://github.com/geosim/QAD download zip from here: https://github.com/geosim/QAD/archive/master.zip then unzip in /.qgis2/python/plugins then remove the "-master" suffix (otherwise you'll have python invalid syntax during loading plugin module) and restart QGIS. The current coordinate system must be a projected system if you want QAD commands to work. You can draw a rectangle specifing the coordinates in any coordinate system (look at the QAD documentation, section "Coordinate specified in a coordinate reference system different from the current one"). Type "rectangle" command (english version) in the text window or use toolbar or menu (vector->QAD). Hi, I have a very basic question, but could not find an answer. How do I create a rectangle based on minLat, minLon, maxLat, maxLon? I have a table with 100,000 rectangle bounds.
