[Qgis-user] HTML Image Map

2022-01-07 Thread nwastra nwastra
Thanks Richard
I was seeing the the concept of html image maps seemed past their use by date
while searching online.
Leaflet looks promising. If I create a centroid for each of my river catchments
I could put a marker on those, etc.
Cheers, Nev

[Qgis-user] HTML Image Map

2022-01-06 Thread nwastra nwastra
Hi
I have a .gdb file with catchment boundaries of river regions and would like to
create a html image map with the name of the catchment displaying on hovering
over each catchment and on selection giving a link to a file of that waterway
data to download.
I am using QGIS 3.22.2 and I can’t find a way to create a HTML imagemap.
I found HTML Image Map Creator QGIS-Plugin
 but Qgis
gave an error message This plugin is incompatible with this version of QGIS
Plugin designed for QGIS 2.14.16 - 2.99

Can QGIS 3.22 create an html image map or should I install 2.14 or is there
another method?

I am trying to reduce the streams extent to the Curt polygon using batch
process (one line should be fine to test)
It works as a single process but does not output anything useful when using the
batch process page.

[Qgis-user] intersection batch process

2020-06-23 Thread nwastra nwastra
I am using Vector>GeoProcessing Tools>Intersection and want to 'run as batch
process’
I enter the input and overlay layers and leave the input, overlay fields and
intersection as autofill but get an error "Wrong or missing output value:
Intersection (row 1)” for all rows if I don’t enter an output filename.

I see where to enter the output dir/filename under the ‘Intersection’ column
and choose a new shapefile name and am then asked for autofill settings.
I choose 'Fill with parameter values' and 'input fields to keep left empty to
keep all fields’.
The input layer has many fields
And I get no output and no error

Running as a single process works fine.

What am I missing here?

I haven’t uploaded files due to size

QGIS version
3.14.0-Pi

[Qgis-user] exporting QGIS maps to gps for field work

I expect QGIS can save your data as geotiif. This article mentions a method
using geotiff and GDAL to convert to jnx
http://whiter.brinkster.net/en/JNX.shtml

[Qgis-user] Shapefile geoprocessing dissolve

2018-10-31 Thread nwastra
Hi
I am very new to gis.
I have surface hydrology lines in a .gdb file some of which I want to add to
the OpenStreetMap.org .
In QGIS I select a manageable portion of it, copy features and paste as a new
vector layer and save as as shapefile.
The hydro lines are all in many small line segments and I want them joined for
each separately named watercourse, so I open the shapefile in QGIS > Select
Features by Value, in the box next to ‘Name' I select ‘Is not missing (not
null)’, and all the waterways with a name are selected, then I choose Vector >
Geoprocessing Tools > Dissolve, choose the selected features of the Input
layer, 'Name’ in Unique ID Fields, and save to a shapefile, and Run

This works fine and on opening the saved shapefile in QGIS, I can select any
stream and it has a name and the whole stream is selected instead of a small
section of the stream as at beginning.

But, when I open it in JOSM (Java OpenStreetMap editor) instead of the entire
stream being selected, only a small segment of the lines is selected which is
unexpected for me. I wish to use JOSM to merge individual steams into the OSM
as it preferred not to have to join all the segments in to one stream each time
for individual streams.

Am I missing step/s in the process? - maybe need to merge or join geometry too
at the dissolve?

Thanks
Nev

Thanks Jesus. Should I uninstall Python 2.7 first? If so do I just delete it’s

[Qgis-user] Mac OS X QGIS 3.2.2 install -Python 3.7.0

2018-09-17 Thread nwastra
Hi
I notice this advice in QGIS-macOS-3.2.2-1.dmg

“
Python 3.6 must be installed first!

Install at least 3.6.5, the macOS 10.9 build.
(previous versions did not hav a 10.9 build)

Only python.org Python 3 is supported.

Make sure to use the default/standard install (or at least the install pip
option in a custom install)
”

When I go to the Python 3.6 link https://www.python.org/downloads/ I am
offered Python 3.7.0

Advice is not clear for me.

Is it ok to download 3.7.0 instead of 3.6 (it is at least at least 3.6.5)?

Tks

[Qgis-user] pattern match a shapefile

2017-06-08 Thread nwastra
Hi
this query has appeared on the OpenStreetMap forum.
https://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=58678

I am curious if QGIS is able to pattern match a shapefile drawn from road
structure drawn here against other online shapefiles of parts of the USA.
I would expect that there are specialists who am able to do such things but
would like to know if the average user can do similar tasks.
