[Qgis-user] grass plugin did not appear in the menu

2020-08-19 Thread Tomas Lanczos
Hello,

I'm running Ubuntu Focal and just built Qgis 3.15 from source with
Grass enabled following instructions in
https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/blob/master/INSTALL.md#310-building-debian-packages.
I previously installed Grass GIS 7.8.3.
The problem I have is a missing Grass Plugin in the Plugins menu. Can
me anybody help?

Thank You in advance

Tomas

[Qgis-user] Grass Plugin

2019-08-08 Thread kiers_boulter
Hi,

I have recently installed QGIS version 3.4. I am working my way through the
GRASS GIS Integration section of the User Guide. I would like to download
and install the GRASS plugin but I cannot find it in the QGIS Official
Plugin Repository at https://plugins.qgis.org/plugins/plugins.xml?qgis=3.4
I have also noted that there is no GRASS vector provider listed under Help -
About - Providers. Is there a problem with GRASS/QGIS Integration in
version 3.4?

Regards, Stephen

The best advice is not to update GRASS unless a new point release
version of QGIS has been compiled.

ubuntugis stable has GRASS 7.2.2 for Trusty , see
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntugis/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/

If you have already installed a newer version, you have to remove and
purge the downloaded packages, then run sudo apt-cache policy GRASS to
see what is available for you.

Or take QGIS 2.14 and GRASS 7.4 from ubuntugis unstable by disabling
qgis.org.

QGIS 2.18.16 is not (yet) compiled to run with GRASS 7.4.

If you can downgrade GRASS to 7.2, the plugin might work.

To fix the "globeplugin.dll missing" you can install gdal200dll pkg (see Bug
report #17917 https://issues.qgis.org/issues/17917).

In the Windows Registry, under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\QGIS\ key.

Best reguards.

Small progress!

After I once again tried to delete every occurrence of GRASS and QGIS on my
hard drive, including appdata\local\[ crashdump | temp ] etc. I reinstalled
QGIS from OSGeo4W.

Now the grass plugin seems to work and he is only missing
C:/OSGeo4W64/apps/qgis/plugins/globeplugin.dll. What is strange to me, is
that he still knows about my recent opened projects.

Where did QGIS store this information, I deleted everything?

1. the QGIS-GRASS-plugin needs to be compiled against the current
stable version, I guess (this would have to be done by the package
maintainer)
2. you can downgrade your GRASS installation in OSGeo4W to GASS 7.2.2

Just guessing.

Cheers,

Stefan

Either remove QGIS completely and switch from ubuntugis to the QGIS
debian repo, or wait until QGIS 2.18.14 is released later this month.

Grass plugin can be affected by use of Ubuntugis if you are running
Ubuntu 16.04 or older. Later versions of Ubuntu don't require Ubuntigis

Try to add path to the directory where GRASS libs
((libgrass_gis.7.0.4RC1.so etc.) are located to LD_LIBRARY_PATH:

The only reason to build version 6 is to support users who haven't
switched yet to GRASS 7. The plugin is identical for both versions,
differences are only in available GRASS modules and their options.

2015-11-01 Thread Radim Blazek
Hi all,

I would like to formally conclude the upgrade of the GRASS Plugin in
QGIS. Everything specified in the crowdfunding campaign is implemented
in recently released QGIS 2.12. The source code supports both GRASS 6
and 7. Version(s) supported in binary distributions may vary and
depend on packagers' decision.

screenshots:
http://www.gissula.eu/qgis-grass-plugin-crowdfunding/screenshots.html
videos: http://www.gissula.eu/qgis-grass-plugin-crowdfunding/videos.html
summary: http://www.gissula.eu/qgis-grass-plugin-crowdfunding/progress.html
documentation:
http://docs.qgis.org/testing/en/docs/user_manual/grass_integration/grass_integration.html

Thanks to Pedro Venâncio, Stefan Blumentrath and Andrew McAninch who
helped with upgrade of modules' configuration. Especially Pedro also
did great work doing extensive testing. Thanks to Jürgen Fischer for
patient fixing of Windows builds, Paolo Cavallini for documentation
review and to everybody who contributed to the campaign.

If you find a problem, please create a new issue:
https://hub.qgis.org/issues/, set Category to GRASS and assign it to
me (Radim Blazek). Unfortunately I have found already two issues:
https://hub.qgis.org/issues/13725, https://hub.qgis.org/issues/13726,
both are fixed in master and backported to 2.12 (will be in 2.12.1 if
it'll ever be released).

The GRASS plugin allows you to use most of the analysis algorithms from
GRASS directly from the QGIS interface. See
http://grass.osgeo.org/grass64/manuals/index.html for a full list of
methods. Note that via the Processing Plugin you can also add SAGA, OTB
and several other tools for even more analysis tools.

For a new user QGIS can be one of the easiest GIS platforms, most new
users will not use the above mentioned plugins unless they are
instructed to do so, or get much further in to learning GIS.

That said GIS is not easy for the random person off the street without
some guidance on basic topics. Please look at the QGIS Training Manual
and the consider getting an Intro GIS book-

[Qgis-user] GRASS plugin

2014-06-30 Thread srk3
I am testing out different software packages for my university to use. I am
currently using QGIS as it seems to provide the most functionalities. I see
that the GRASS plugin is already installed when I start using QGIS Desktop
2.2.0 from a stand-alone installer. I was just wondering if someone could
tell me what additional functionalities come with the GRASS plugin?
I would also like some opinions on how easy QGIS is to use for non-GIS
users?

Thank you,

[Qgis-user] Grass plugin problem does not load in Fedora 17

2013-02-16 Thread Tomas Lanczos
I have a strange problem. I compiled grass6.4.SVN and also qgis 1.8 (tried
the same with 1.9) from source in Fedora 17. Everything is working
smoothly, except the grass plugin is not loaded, or at least is not visible
in the plugin manager menu. I introduced the grass path correctly for the
configuring and I also wrote the grass library into the qgis.conf file
(also did the ldconfig), but still does not work.

I will be grateful for any ideas or proposals, than You in advance

Tomas

[Qgis-user] GRASS plugin

2012-06-28 Thread Chavoux Luyt
Hi guys

Running Debian Squeeze (Mepis 11), I have installed qGIS 1.8 . I also have
GRASS 6.4.2-1 installed. However, I cannot install qgis-plugin-grass (any
version), because it is dependent on GRASS 6.4.0 . Is there any way to get
the plugin working with the newer version of GRASS? Is it useful to have
this plugin at all, or should I just import the .shp files into GRASS and
do everything from there? I used GRASS a long time ago and remember that it
was quite a steep learning curve, but very powerful once I knew how
everything fit together.

Thanks again

[Qgis-user] GRASS plugin

2012-04-10 Thread Hannah Pethen
Hello Mailing List

I am running qgis on Windows. I recently upgraded to 1.7.4. which is great, but
ever since I seem to have lost the GRASS plugin. I can't find it on either
'Fetch python plugins' or 'Manage python plugins' and my GRASS toolbar has
entirely disappeared. I have tried reinstalling QGIS, incuding the GRASS
plugin, but it doesn't improve. As a result a number of my qgis projects, which
contain GRASS derived data, are crashing when I attempt to open them. Does
anyone know what the problem is or how I can retrieve GRASS for QGIS?

Thanks

[Qgis-user] Grass plugin for grass 6.4.2

2012-03-07 Thread ciskoh
Hi all,

I've updated my grass version to 6.4.2
I tried to install the grass plugin for qgis but the build dependency is
still grass641.
Is there un updated version somewhere?

One solution could be in compiling the plugin, but I cannot find an svn URL
to download it...
Could someone guide me through the compilation or give me another solution?

Thanks

Matteo

I recently had reports about some instability of the GRASS plugin on windows.
(Un)fortunately I cannot test it, as I do not own a win licence, so I'm asking
here:
* is this a common problem?
* can be related to anything specific?
- Win version

- does it happen on "dirty" installations only, or also on clean ones?
- antivirus?
* when (at what QGIS version) has the problem arisen?

I think you have mixed non-compatible repositories.

debian.gfoss.it has QGIS 1.7 only for Debian Squeeze, not for
Lenny.

If you are running Lenny, please remove any GFOSS package and
install only from http://qgis.org/debian.

May be you will get an older version of GRASS in this way.

Consider to upgrade to Squeeze, which is now the Stable Debian.

Re: [Qgis-user] Grass Plugin

2011-01-28 Thread Micha Silver

Hello Brad:
From your
description I gather that you have QGIS installed with the OSGeo4W
installer. And on the same machine you also have a separate GRASS
installation. And you're saying that you can start GRASS on its
own with the GISDBASE, LOCATION and MAPSET all setup. Is that
correct?? But when you try to run GRASS modules from within QGIS
you're getting an error that the GISDBASE is not set?

Now, when you start
QIS, is the GRASS plugin loading? If so, can you click the "New
Mapset" button and then, where it says "Database:" click "Browse"
and choose the directory of your GRASS database to be identical to
the above directory you setup from GRASS. Then select the LOCATION
  and MAPSET as above.
If the GRASS
database has not been set at all, then use the same procedure from
within QGIS to choose a directory, then continue with the QGIS
wizard, set up a LOCATION and MAPSET. Note that you must be the
*owner* of the directory for the GRASS database.

Micha

it's rather widespread: I noticed it on two different courses, with different
machines, with the same files I was ufing for previous courses. Unfortunately,
being
at a course, I could not check the issue thoroughly, nor I have access to the
same
machines anymore. I suspect it could have something to do with speed: maybe on
a slow

I tried a quick test importing some shapefiles with both 1.6
and 1.7 (WinXP OSGeo4W installer). No obvious, consistent
problems. I had one program lockup when clicking "View Output"
in the v.in.ogr toolbox window. I think this was due to a
dirty polygon shp that GRASS couldn't successfully clean. But
after restarting QGIS the GRASS vector displayed properly. In
general I could import into a GRASS mapset 100MB shapefiles
without issues.

The .gislock file that gets left after a crash, preventing use
of the mapset after a restart is indeed an annoyance.

Would you mind to post some shapes that were causing trouble.

The error appears when loading vectors, so it should be easy to reproduce.

Hi Paolo,
Here, editing grass vectors became impossible, qgis freezes.

I had opened a tiket some time ago #3237: http://trac.osgeo.org/qgis/ticket/3237
But after a lot of tests I closed it because after a downgrade for a version
that used to work the problem persisted.
I'am available to run tests in windows if you need.

Do you have the standalone Qgis installed? That does not have the GRASS
plugin. (the reason is that if you install GRASS, you then need to install
almost all the framework dependencies, so there's no point bundling the
frameworks in Qgis.)

Maybe you are missing the GDAL-GRASS driver library, something like
libgdal1-1.5.0-grass - GRASS extension for the GDAL library
on linux. Try to run
  gdalinfo --formats | grep GRASS
to check if the driver is available.

It is only required in QGIS < 1.5 however, in current (1.5) version it
is not used anymore.

[Qgis-user] GRASS Plugin - Raster Layer

2010-03-01 Thread Erica Donnelly-Swift

Hi

I am trying to learn how to use Q-gis and I am having difficulty with
the "Add Raster Layer" in the GRASS plugin
If anyone could please give any suggestions, it would greatly
appreciated, thanks

I'm working on a Mac OSX (Leopard -Mac OSX 10.5.8) with the sample
Alaska data set

I have installed:
Qgis 1.4.0-2 (from the website: http://www.kyngchaos.com/software/qgis)
GRASS.app.6.4 RC5-3 (Leopard) (from the website:
http://www.kyngchaos.com/software/grass)

The frame works I have installed are:

FreeType Framework v2.3.11-1
Cairo framework v1.8.8-2
GDAL1.6 complete
UnixImageIO framework v1.1.0a
Proj fameworkv4.7.0-1
GEOS framework v3.2.1-1
SQLite3 framework v3.6.22-1

The "Add GRASS Vector Layer" works fine for the Alaska data, but the
"Add GRASS Raster Layer" it is giving problems.

The raster layer I'm trying to upload is 'gtopo30'

I receive the following error:

"/Users/erica/Desktop/grassdata/alaska/demo/cellhd/gtopo30
is not a valid or recognized raster data source"

The correct path is now /Applications/GRASS-6.4.app/Contents/MacOS (it used to
be Resources).

But, with a fresh Qgis prefs, it should just work, so there may be another
framework version incompatibility somewhere. Very possibly GRASS 6.4 has a
problem with a *newer* framework version - it's been out for a while and there
have been a couple framework updates that might affect GRASS, and I haven't
noticed because I run GRASS 6.5 outside of Qgis for my work.

... like PROJ 4.7 ;) GRASS 6.4 links to PROJ 4.6, while starting with PROJ 4.7
I name the version just "4", to avoid problems just like this. The Apple
installer is a little too smart, and sees that you are updating PROJ, so PROJ
4.7 deleted 4.6.

I've been meaning to rebuild GRASS 6.4 for this and other framework updates,
but also an RC6 seems so close that I don't want to waste effort...

Quick fix, in a Terminal:

sudo ln 4 /Library/Frameworks/PROJ.framework/Versions/4.6

[Qgis-user] GRASS plugin (GISBASE) - MAC OS

2010-01-15 Thread António M. Rodrigues
Hi,

I'm having problems trying to run the GRASS plugin from within QGIS1.4.

I get the message:

"QGIS couldn't find your GRASS installation.
Would you like to specify path (GISBASE) to your GRASS installation?"

After choosing yes, I attempted to:
-Navigate to /Applications/GRASS-6.4.app, and select this path as
"GRASS installation path
(GISBASE)
-Navigate to /Applications/GRASS-6.4.app/Contents, and select this path
as "GRASS installation
path (GISBASE)
-Navigate to /Applications/GRASS-6.4.app/Contents/Resources, and select
this path as "GRASS
installation path (GISBASE)

The same message appears...

Then I tried (from an internet forum...):
-
Selecting the GRASS GISBASE inside GRASS.app is tricky. First,
before running Qgis, right-click GRASS.app and Show Package
Contents. Now command (apple)-option drag the Contents folder from
there to your desktop.

Now you can start Qgis and when asked for GISBASE, navigate into the
GRASS.app package with this alias. Select the Resources folder as
the GISBASE.
-

After navigating into the GRASS.app from the link (which can be tricky because
it doesn't show), I get
exactly the same message. ("QGIS couldn't find your GRASS installation...")

Lastly, I trashed hoping it would find it automatically.
No luck.

I've installed GRASS6.4 (in /Applications)
My system is Mac OS X 10.5.8 (9L31a), running on a Macbook2.4.

Any advice?
Thanks in advance...
António

[Qgis-user] Grass plugin not appearing in plugin manager

2008-07-23 Thread asroberts
Hi all,

I am just starting to work with QGIS 0.11.0 under Kubuntu Gutsy. I have not
been able to find or install the GRASS GIS plugin in the plugin manager.

When I start QGIS from the terminal, I get the following error message:

ERROR 1: libgrass_I.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory

I have both GRASS 6.2.3 and qgis-plugin-grass 0.11.0-2 (along with its
libraries) installed.

I have confirmed that libgrass_I.so does exist in /usr/lib/grass/lib. So I
tried copying it to /usr/lib/qgis. This had no effect.

Following a suggestion from one of the emails in this list's archive, I also
tried to edit my /etc/ld.so.conf file by adding a line with, "/usr/lib/grass"
but this did not seem to help either. Though I have never edited the
ld.so.conf file before, so I may have not used the correct syntax.

Does any one have any ideas where my problem might be?

Thank you!

-Andy.

The link to qgis binaries is provided for either Tiger (10.4) or
