Then I would suggest that the downloads web page needs to be updated? 3
days after the newest point release is available, one would expect
something that says it is a nightly build to have that new nightly build by
then and not be a version behind.

The nightlies are not actual nightlies anymore. The previous run - producing
the release and master builds - start on Mon Dec 20 14:31:15 UTC 2021 and ended
on Fri Dec 24 00:27:05 UTC 2021. And the current run started Sat Dec 25
00:03:09 UTC 2021 and feeds the nightlies, which built 3.22.2 for ubuntu focal,
focal-ubuntugis, groovy, hirsute and impish and is currently on debian
bullseye - debian unstable, the builds of release-3_16 and master will follow
after that.

The release nightlies have the same version number as the current release as
the point number is incremented on release.

[Qgis-user] I don't understand the Ubuntu/Devbian versioning and repository contents?

2021-12-24 Thread Cory Albrecht
Hello,

The QGIS website says that 3.22.2 is the latest to download, but the
package download from the http://qgis.org/ubuntu-nightly-release repo is
still on 3.22.1. From the description here
, "Nightly build
of upcoming point release for Debian and Ubuntu", I would have thought that
it would be a build of whatever will become 3.22.3, or whatever the next
one will be called upon actual release.

Would somebody be able to explain to me what the naming convention is, and
why something that by the description should be ahead of the current
release version appears to instead be behind?

Thanks in advance.
