Re: [Qgis-user] Layout export to image not cropping when draw coordinates outside map frame enabled.

Just checked and someone else has reported it as a bug a year ago. Print
layout: crop to content produces incorrect cropping when grid coordinates
labels are present #47250

Subject: [Qgis-user] Layout export to image not cropping when draw coordinates
outside map frame enabled.

I'm having an issue exporting layouts to image. Wondering if anyone else has
found a solution.
Not sure if it is a bug or a feature.

If I have grid coordinate labels around the outside of a map frame (draw
coordinates), I find when I export as image with crop to content checked and 0
margins, I end up with a large margin of about 70 pixels around the export,
wherever the map frame is near the edge.
In the past I've used a work around, setting the text as inside the map frame,
but with a negative offset so it appears outside.
Since the latest update 3.28.4/3.30 this no longer works, the export is still
cropped correctly, but the labels vanish (visible in layout preview but not in
the image export).

Anyone have any ideas or should it be a bug report? Looks like the extra
margin may is about what would be required if the coordinates labels were
perpendicular to the frame instead of parallel.

1) delete the map.

2) Right click inside the white box (if you don't see the white box do
3 first)

a) select Page Properties
b) set the "Page Size" "Size". Legal and Letter are in the middle of
the list.
3) left click the "zoom full" icon, 4th from the left, 2nd toolbar
from the top.Then add a new map, this time fit it within the white

Then try exporting your image again.

Greetings,
I have read over the documentation for the Layout.
I have added a map to the layout.
The view of the map is dim or obscured as it was behind a semi
transparent skin.
When I export the layout as an image only a portion of the map is saved.
I looked for an option such as "Fit map to layout size" but I could not
find anything.
There are screen shots here:

If the map size is changed how does one refresh the layout to reload the
map?
Thanks,

Re: [Qgis-user] Layout page size variable?

2021-05-21 Thread John Layt
Not sure you can use it in this case, but if you're needing to find
standard page sizes and localised names from width x height measurements,
the Qt QPageSize class has useful lookup tools. See
https://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qpagesize.html.

Something like:

id = QPageSize.id(QSizeF(width, height), QPageSize.Millimeters)
name = QPageSize.name(id)

It does a fuzzy match on size within 3 points, and ignores orientation, so
should always get the right standard page size regardless.

Cheers!

John.

2021-05-20 Thread Thomas Gratier
Hi,

Not sure it's available but you can use the following Python expression to
add the functionality

@qgsfunction(args='auto', group='Layout')
def get_page_format(layoutname, pagenumber, feature, parent, context):
layout = QgsProject.instance().layoutManager().layoutByName(layoutname)
page = layout.pageCollection().page(pagenumber - 1)
return QgsApplication.pageSizeRegistry().find(page.pageSize())

and calling it with

get_page_format('demo', @layout_page)

Regards

Re: [Qgis-user] Layout

2021-04-15 Thread Nicolas Cadieux
Hi,

Make sure you have the exact same scale in both the layout and the project
view. If some of the map is from a web service, it may also add restrictions
that you won’t be able to control (like the maximum pixel resolution it will
give you).

[Qgis-user] Layout export images not cropping to content with outside grid labels

2021-03-22 Thread Michael Dufty
Hi,
I’m having an issue where if I export a layout as image, and tick the crop to
content option, the result is not cropped to the content, but has considerable
white space.
It seems to only happen where I have a grid with coordinates labelled on the
outside.

It looks like QGIS is cropping to about where the coordinate labels would be if
they were perpendicular to the edge of the map, but since I have them parallel
with the map edge, a large white space is created.
Has anyone else come across this? I can’t find any settings in the grid or map
for this.

I have found a workaround, if I select to draw coordinate labels on the inside,
then give them a negative distance to the map frame it all works as I think it
should.

layout.pageCollection().addPage( page )

(you don't use addLayoutItem for pages -- add it directly to the page
collection instead)

[Qgis-user] Layout without initializeDefaults()

2021-02-18 Thread Mayo Rubiano
Hello everyone.
I'm new in QGIS.
My question is: I'm trying to layout with PYQGIS, I understand that there
is one way to initialize automatically the layout configurations that is
with the function initializeDefaluts(), that adds a A4 page in landscape
orientation. But I want to layout without this function because I need a
different page size and orientation.
I tried with this code in the python console:

project = QgsProject().instance()
layout = QgsPrintLayout(project)
page = QgsLayoutItemPage(layout)
#set page orientation vertically and a letter size
page.setPageSize("Letter", 0)
layout.addLayoutItem(page)
#set the layout name for the layout manager
layout.setName("MyLayout")
#add the layout to the layout manager
project.layoutManager().addLayout(layout)

When I open the layout made with this code in the the layout manager I note
that the variable layout_numpages is set to 0, that means that I can't add
guides because there are no pages to link guides and I can't use the rulers
because the 0 of y rulers is at the coordinates (0,10)mm. Then, there are
other variables with different values (layout_pageheight, layout_pageoffset
and layout _page width).

Could someone tell me what is needed to build a layout without that
function and correcting the rulers and the layout_numpage variable?

Thanks

Re: [Qgis-user] Layout Manager Atlas Output filename expression is not working anymore

2019-01-22 Thread Raúl Sangonzalo Terrado
I think I have found the issue in the code. In qgslayoutatlas.cpp, in line
347. I believe that what is happening is that the entire path is converted
into a QFileInfo fileName() somehow (I'm sorry, my knowledge in C++ is very
limited) so my understanding is that because a file cannot contain a "\" in
the name, it is converted to a "_" in the dialog.

My conclusion is that this might not be a bug after all, and that now it is
working as it is supposed to be (I might be wrong though). I think in QGIS
2.18, it did what it wasn't supposed to and miraculously served our
purpose, which was to find the correct folder (constructed with an
expression) and adding the feature name to the file automatically. Any
ideas on this?

Best,
Raúl

Re: [Qgis-user] Layout question

2018-11-20 Thread C Hamilton
Michael,

I can't answer your whole question but just as a note, use the rotation
ability of the QGIS 3 Shape Tools plugin. It will do a geodesic rotation
and not be confused by units in degrees which may be why you are getting it
skewed when you try to rotate.

[Qgis-user] Layout question

2018-11-20 Thread Michael Jabot
I have been using the Equal Earth projection for an example for schools.

Is there a way in QGIS to shift the view so that a particular polygon of
interest is centered in the layout?

What I am trying to do is get a “head onto view” of this polygon instead of
having it skewed. I tried rotation but it rotated along the wrong axis

Thank you for any ideas and again I apologize for these dumb questions

Ah, great, aggregate() can access layers:

[% aggregate('longId_9b9129d7_9c00_4a30_8c6c_d3959664149b', 'count', 1,
"group" = 'a' and "subgroup" = 'b') %]

[Qgis-user] Layout and Reporting Engine Crowdfunding Campaign – a success!

2017-06-02 Thread Nyall Dawson
Hi all,

Just a quick update to let you know that our recent crowdfunding
campaign to rework QGIS' print composer for 3.0 was a huge success!

I'd like to thank every member of the QGIS community who assisted with
promoting this campaign and bringing it to the attention of the
campaign backers. Without your efforts we would not have been able to
reach these backers and the campaign would not have been successful.

Of course, our thanks also go to the many financial sponsors for this work:

- The Swiss QGIS User group (funded preliminary work in refactoring
how compositions are handled and stored within projects)
- The QGIS Grant Program (2016) (funded preliminary work allowing for
a flexible property framework which will be used within the project)
- Land Vorarlberg, Austria
- Tudor Bărăscu
- Oester Messtechnik GmbH, Thun, Switzerland
- Ferdinando Urbano, Italy
- Alta ehf, Reykjavik, Iceland
- Trage Wegen, Belgium
- QGIS Denmark User Group, Denmark
- Debuco Techniek B.V., Netherlands
- The QWAT Project
- QGIS Sweden User Group, Sweden
- Andreas Neumann
- Kristianstads kommun, Sweden
- City of Vevey, Switzerland
- Kanton Thurgau, Switzerland
- Ricardo Pinho, Portugal
- Portugese QGIS User Group, Portugal
- Waymotion, Portugal
- Lloyd Analytics LLC, USA
- Canton of Neuchâtel, Switzerland
- Hartmut Dickel, Switzerland

We’ve also received numerous anonymous contributions in addition to
these – please know that the QGIS community extends their gratitude
for your contributions too!

This campaign was also successful thanks to The Agency for Data Supply
and Efficiency, Denmark, who stepped up and have funded an initial
component of this project directly.

I'll be posting updates as this work progresses over at
https://north-road.com/blog/

Many thanks!
Nyall

[Qgis-user] Layout-window: Grid properties: Order when using Tab-Key

2012-09-25 Thread Peter Schürch
Hi List
I noticed that when I use the Tab-Key to jump from one property to the next in
the grid settings the order is:
1. X-Intervall
2.  X-Shift
3. Y-Shift
Etc.

Y-Intervall is left out. This doesn't make sense to me, as you usually want to
change X- and Y-Intervall at the same time (and often the same value).
Potentially it would even make sense to set Y-Intervall by default to
X-Intervall. So if this is what the user want's he doesn't need to change it.

Cheers, Peter

[Qgis-user] - Layout page set up Qgis 1.5 (r13629)

2010-06-04 Thread Camilla Dibari

Dear all,
I'm a recent QGIS user and I encontered this problem:
platform: Windows XP
QGIS version: 1.5 (r13629)

issue: when I try to modify the page set up in a layout (e.g. from A4
orizontal to vertical) the white page on the background disappears and
if I export the map either in pdf or any image format, the exporting
process is not accomplished.

Is this maybe due to the Windows platform?
Is there anyone who encountered the same problem?
Shall I open a new ticket on this topic?

Thank you in advance for any help you provide

regards

Camilla

Checked, and cannot confirm this on Debian.
I think opening a ticket is a good thing to do, if anybody else confirms the
