Great thanks,

we know the documentation needs a bit of love and we already started a
major rework, but sill we are extremely happy for any help we get!

Cheers

Hi Marco,

thanx for your reply.

As I'm currently already in the field (without QField), so I'm short on
time to give it another try. But will hopefully test it soon.

I will try to compile a list of things I do not quite understand/which
could be a bit better explained.

Thanks,

Good evening MacKinnon's,
although being rather familiar with GIS, I don't Know yet GeoPDF. Tried to
load your USGS download file in QGIS 3.12.0 on Win 10. Had also trouble,
although I didn't got an error message. But the CPU of my system reached
it's limit for a felt eternity without coming further and I had to stop QGIS
rather violently. Seems to be something strange with the USGS GeoPDF.

new map is much larger than earlier versions. 40mg vs 15-20mg.  Is this an
intentional change by USGS or an error formatting the file.

Map sheet in question is MI_Garden_20191218_TM_geo.pdf

Hi,

If the cpu Is running and you have a PDF on the desktop, remove the PDF from
the desktop. There is an old Windows bug that does that. No link to QGIS if
that is the case.

Hi Bernd,

I haven't followed instructions in that link of yours precisely since I've
never had the need to capture several images for a same feature.

But I can guarantee that this functionality works and works great (at least for
me).

Have you tried without setting up relations, just having one field that's going
store captured image path and then configuring it as a "attachment" in layer
properties in QGIS? The correct place to do that is in attribute form. Skip to
the last part of the instructions found in your link.

Images will be saved to your mobile device, into a new folder (DCIM) that will
be located under your project folder. That's at least the default behavior.

Hope this help.

Re: [Qgis-user] QField: adding photos, but how?

2020-04-20 Thread Bernd Vogelgesang

Hi Carlos;

Am 20.04.20 um 22:46 schrieb Carlos Dávila:

Hi Bernd
If you don't need an unlimited number of pictures for each feature, as
in the example from QField website, I think you can forget about
relations and just add a field of type string for the number of
pictures you need, then select "attachment" widget type and image as
"Integrated document viewer". That way you'll have two buttons in your
form in your mobile device, one which opens your camera to take a
picture and other to select an already saved picture from your device
file system.
That's the theory, but I'm having problems to save pictures taken from
within QField. Camera is opened and picture is taken, but when I
return to QField, picture is not saved. It seems as if some "Accept"
of "Confirm" action is missing. As a workaround, I take the picture
with the camera app before adding the new feature. Then I go to
QField, add a new feature and select that picture using the second
button mentioned above. The only drawback of this system is that I
then have two identical files for each picture, one in the camera
directory and a copy of that in QField project directory.

well, if I have the chance to take multiple pictures, I would not like
to miss it.
But as I asked, would it be possible to set up sth like it is advertised
using the instructions here?
https://qfield.org/docs/project-management/add-1-n-pictures.html ?

I really would like to get it running AND make suggestions how to
improve the documentation. But as long as I do not know what is missing,
I can't propose any changes (aka vicious circle).

As there are nearly no traces to be found that QField is used this way
on the web (stackexchange, youtube, vimeo), I have the feeling that
people simply are not able to set it up with this documentation cause
vital parts are missing or not explained enough.

The next question then would be, if it really works as described, or if
there are other bugs.

But as long as none steps up to solve the first issues, we will not get
far with the others.

Cheers,

Bernd
