Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS on a mobile platform
Just seconding that Avenza PDF Maps has proved to be a very useful application for our researchers who need offline data collection on our their reference basemaps. Very simple to create data capture schemas, and works well across multi-user editing. Free version is good enough for a few maps, but the expanded pay version is quite affordable, compared to other solutions, too. (Please note that my laptop inserts random double keystrokes. Sometimes, I just can’t repair all of it.) (or if you can live with the 3 map limit on any given device, you don't need to subscribe at all.) Not directly answering your question, but https://inputapp.io is based on QGIS and you can transfer your whole project with associated data to your Android or iOS device. The app works fully offline and you can still collect data. When you have data connectivity, you can sync your changes. Again, not what you're asking for, but have you looked at the Avenza Maps app, which runs on Android and iOS devices? It will display your maps and if the device has a gps in it, also show location. ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org List info: https://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user Unsubscribe: https://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS on a mobile platform
Josh, Not exactly what you are asking for, but . . . :c) We’ve had success (7 currently in the field) with setting up Raspberry Pis with a GIS webserver stack and connecting to them in the field via Wifi from whatever web enabled device you have. We have over 250k (250,000) documents on four of them for the Survey field crews, and all the docs are geolocated down to the street level in the City. https://github.com/klassenjs/rpi-workshop Works great, you can run the RPi off a USB battery, or connect to vehicle ignition. The nice piece is it has one button for on/off. That’s it, run it, connect to Wifi and you have your own private internet/web server. We’ve planned on setting up some collection processes via the web too, but haven’t gotten there yet. Anyway, something to think about.
