Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS v3 Layout Manager

2018-03-04 Thread Paolo Cavallini
Hi,
I agree, documentation is a crucial piece of our infrastructure, and has
to be made sustainable on the long run.
IMHO the training and certification programme, as discussed in another
thread, is the main source we should tap on for this.
All the best, and thanks for pointing this out.

Ccing to community as i'm convinced that is a big issue that the community
needs to clearly know. Sometimes i wonder what happens if one day there's no
more User manual (and i'm afraid it comes if things do not evolve): people will
surely read blog post, social media, forum, mailing-list... but i'm sure, and i
may be wrong, that not all the fantastic features will be exposed and i'm not
sure a project without a User manual looks sustainable or serious.

Thanks for doing that. We also need to create and adapt manuals to groups.

Thanks again for your offer. Unfortunately, 2.18 is no longer a target for QGIS
Docs team (i think it's all done). And sharing a whole doc wouldn't really help
us in this case given that it'll require we learn it first, before we find its
usefulness. As the writer, you might better know what could be missing in
official docs.

And to make things clearer (if need be), my previous call was not addressed to
you, Grant, actually to not only you, but to anybody (user, trainer,
developper, company... ) that could be reading these lines: QGIS needs (a
little from) you.

TIP: QGIS 3.0 changelog will sooner be published
(https://qgis.org/en/site/forusers/visualchangelog30/index.html). Go give it a
look, find a feature, improve its summary (should not always be required) and
propose it for merge in user manual(/Cookbook/Training manual) . And that's
all.

Cheers,
Harrissou

You're welcome. This is why we need some help for the documentation. There are
many features here and there that need to be written so that not only
developers are aware of them.
We don't need big litterature nor request writer to become a long term
contributor (it'd be nice but no problem if not possible). All we need is some
notes on a feature you know about and is missing in docs, so that we insert it
in docs. See last PSC call at

Please do.
But Imagine if each of us puts one of his/her notes in the official docs...

Hi Grant,

Right-click on the existing page should show "page properties" in the context
menu.

[Qgis-user] QGIS v3 Layout Manager

2018-03-04 Thread Grant Boxer
In v2 I set the page size first using the Print Composer > Composition tab >
Page Size (e.g. A4 landscape). I then add my template of the correct size.
In v3 there does not seem to be a composition tab. Under the new Layout tab,
there doesn't appear to be anywhere to add the page size and orientation?
Does this now have to be done in the Composer > Page Setup option?
