Carson suggested it is a problem with PyQt and rpy2 http://osdir.com/ml/qgis-user-gis/2009-07/msg00112.html There is a potential solution, that implies reinstalling R, QGIS, GDAL and rpy2: http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/17169/is-it-possible-to-run-an-r-script-on-a-layer-in-qgis but before, I'd ask you to file a ticket on Homerange plugin bugtracker with your current configuration, i.e. which versions of QGIS, R, rpy2, PyQt you have installed and from which sources.
