Hello,

Instead of exporting to PDF, try to use a PDF printer like Cute PDF, it
worked for me once.

yes, it seems you are right and that is a known issue

http://hub.qgis.org/projects/openlayers/issues?set_filter=1&tracker_id=1

anyway it is not a qgis issue (the tool is a 3rd party plugin) and
there are workarounds, like taking a snapshot of the map portion you
need and use it as a normal raster (but I don't know if the google
licence allows such kind of things).

cheers

May be this can help:

http://webhelp.esri.com/arcgisserver/9.3/java/index.htm#designing_overlay_gm_mve.htm

You can load the Google Maps and Microsoft Virtual Earth scales into
ArcMap's dropdown list of scales by doing the following:

1128.497220
2256.994440
4513.90

this happens because the layers from the Openlayers Plugin are not
available at every scale, but only at certain scale levels (so when you
add such layers all the project is available only at preset scales).

In the composer you then need to manually set the scale of the map
object to be one of those scale levels, otherwise you'll get the
described issue.

cheers

Jonathan,

THANK YOU !! It worked perfectly! This solves some problems that have been
troubling one of our communities trying to publish a map.

And your English is much better than my French, so don't worry !!! Every
time I visit Quebec, I try to speak French. Unfortunately, it is so bad
that the Quebecois all rush to speak English with me so they don't have to
listen to me destroy their beautiful language !! ;-)

Cheers! And thanks again!

Added note: I just tested w/qgis 1.4.0 on Win7 and do not have the same
issue. Printing to a virtual PDF printer (PDFCreator) and/or the same
Canon 750 works. So this appears to be a linux only issue?
