[Qgis-user] SSL support

2010-01-13 Thread Milena Nowotarska
Hi All,

QGIS 1.4 from osgeo4w installer seems to not have SSL support while
Standalone has.
Is it a known issue or I'm missing some component from osgeo4w?

[Qgis-user] SSL Support in QGIS Builds, esp. Windows and MacOSX

2008-07-16 Thread Andreas Neumann
Hi QGIS developers,

Some colleagues of mine and I need SSL support in QGIS to access a Postgis
server which only allows SSL connections. While this is no problem on
Linux, where I have a build environment, I can't compile Windows and Mac
versions myself - well maybe I could do it for Mac, but definitely not on
Windows.

So my question or wish to the QGIS packagers is that SSL support in
Windows and Mac builds (potentially also Linux binaries) would have SSL
support enabled by default.

I don't know how much effort this needs or how complex it is to do SSL
enabled Windows and Mac binaries?

Thank you for considering my feature request for the final 1.0 QGIS release.

Andreas

ok - I did a test with the all in one bundle from
http://download.osgeo.org/qgis/mac/qgis-0.10.0.dmg.gz and I could
successfully connect using SSL. Good!

I used MacOSX10 Tiger, 10.4.11

I didn't yet have the chance to get hold of a Windows Computer - will
test that tomorrow at work and report if it doesn't work.

Thanks a lot,
Andreas

On OSX, at least the way I and Tom package our builds, the postgres

builds may do the same.

For the SSL libraries, those are part of the standard OSX system, no
worries there. I don't know about Windows.

yes - my server has SSL enabled, but most of the client PCs and Macs

No, QGIS doesn't block SSL (Marco and I tried it yesterday on Linux) -
but the OpenSSL libraries must be present on the clients - which is
usually not the case I think.

Unless there is something in Qgis blocking SSL?

All generalizations are dangerous, even this one.
