RE: AW: [Qgis-user] Undo and redo editing
-original message- Subject: AW: [Qgis-user] Undo and redo editing From: "Hugentobler Marco" Date: 16/06/2009 09:13 Hi Horst I also like to have the node tools in a pull-down menu. Still I think the separation basic editing toolbar / advanced editing toolbar makes sense because some advanced tools are probably used less frequently, so user should have the possibility to show/hide this toolbar depending on his current task. +1 My suggestion is to hide the advanced editing toolbar by default (for the first start of qgis) such that user interface seems less overcrowded for new users. Also, I'd like to move the split feature tool to the advanced editing toolbar as it probably is used less frequently than 'add feature' and the node tools. +1 What do you think? -- Micha Regards, Marco -Ursprüngliche Nachricht- Von: qgis-user-boun...@lists.osgeo.org im Auftrag von Düster Horst Gesendet: Mo 15.06.2009 09:09 An: qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org Betreff: [Qgis-user] Undo and redo editing Martin and Richard Great news after long weekend. AW: AW: AW: [Qgis-user] Undo and redo editing
Hi all So what about grouping the tools to different toolbars by functionality and hide all the editing toolbars by default? A possible classification would be: vertex manipulation tools (add/move/delete vertex, noding tool) feature manipulation tools (simplify, add/delete ring, add/delete island, move feature, split feature, merge features) feature creation/deletion (add feature, delete feature, cut, copy, paste) general(undo, redo) Like this we have a clean UI by default and possibility to selectively hide/show toolbars if needed (and no dropdown buttons). Maybe there are other classifications that would make sense. Let me know what you think. Maybe thats a high goal to set but - we all have dreams ;) So for the question of advanced or not advanced .. what about enabling advanced options with a klickmark in the options dialog? To have default QGIS just with easy to use options and show a new "advanced" menu (like ftools menu) when advanced features are wanted.. That would be my kind of solution. regards Werner Düster Horst schrieb: > Tim > > >> Its great that we are adding advanced features but we >> should remember our 'roots' in being an easy to learn, easy to use GIS. >> Part of that is achieved through keeping UI complexity to a minimum. >> > > You are right when you say what our roots have been.
