2023-09-27 Thread Richard McDonnell via QGIS-User
Hi Jeremy,
Garth is indeed right. MrSID is not open source, therefore it's not installed
by default.
Thankfully it's easy to install, I can only give you instructions for Windows
though.

1) Open OSGeo4W Setup
2) Select Advanced Install
3) Install from Internet
4) Keep clicking Next until you get to Select Packages
5) In the search bar Type Mr and you should see the list drop to just Libs.
When you expand on this you will see the GDAL drivers for MrSID
6) It will say Skip, if you click on this it will change to the current
version.
7) Click next and it will then go through the setup process. You will be
required to accept the Licencing Agreement, but once finished you will be able
to use MrSID format.

I hope that helps.
Kind Regards,

Richard.

Re: [Qgis-user] opening .sid files in QGIS

2023-09-26 Thread Garth Fletcher via QGIS-User
I have routinely opened .SID color orthophoto files for several years
with QGIS running on a Mac.
Currently using QGIS 3.30 under Mac OS X 10.13; I started using QGIS
back in the 2.14 days, ~2016.

I have a vague recollection of having to load a MrSID SDK, perhaps 4 or
5 years ago.
Perhaps that installation has been persistent since I haven't had to do
anything MrSID related since as I updated QGIS.

If indeed a MrSID is needed, it can be found at
