You may have a conflicting dll (do you have ESRI installed on your
system?) that breaks our python. ESRI has been a bad boy it seems and
installed their python into the system path so their dll's get loaded in
place of ours where they overlap. We don't have a good solution to this

We are very pleased to announce the release of QGIS 2.0.1 ‘Dufour’.
This release contains new features and extends the programmatic interface
over QGIS the 1.x release series. Binary and source code packages are
available via the large download link on our home page: http://qgis.org

If there is not yet a package for your platform on the above page,
please check back regularly as packagers are still pushing out their work
and they will update the download page to reflect the new packages. Along
with the release of QGIS 2.0.1, the QGIS Community Team is hard at work on
an updated QGIS Users’ Guide version 2.0.1. The guide will be available in
the near future - we will post announcements when it is available.

We are also pleased to announce our new web site is now available at

for sponsoring web developer time to make the new web site look beautiful,
and our web team for the awesome job they have done.

Hi Tim,

I checked the variables defined in QGIS2 and that points to version 2.7 of
Python and I also have a python variable set for version 2.5. Technically,
this should not cause a problem and you can have multiple copies installed.
I do not have ArcMAP or ESRI stuff installed.

Never had this issue with 1.8 of QGIS; as I say it does not prevent the
program running looks lit it is confused as to what to do during startup

If you know what the names of possible dll files are to check, then I can

Re: [Qgis-user] Announcing the release of QGIS 2.0

2013-09-20 Thread Lester Anderson
Hi Tim,

Just downloaded and installed the latest version QGIS 2.0.1 and it works -
up to a point!

It gives a non-critical runtime error, but after closing this window starts
ok from what I can tell.

Also took a couple of tries to download the entire installer file.

Lester
