Re: [Qgis-user] Errors when re-opening new installation of QGIS
It should not. Maybe the repository should refuse to upload plugins with such metadata. Or there could be some daily test to run on the hosted plugins. Yes it should. This, even with bad plugin metadata, is a bug in the plugin manager. It should handle the errors better. - Nathan On Thu Jan 15 2015 at 03:37:00 Andre Joost andre+jo...@nurfuerspam.de wrote: Am 14.01.2015 um 17:32 schrieb Richard Duivenvoorde: Upon retrieving of the new plugin.xml this is ok? There is a popup after starting the app (which is probably the plugin update checker) When you open the Plugin Manager, the download of the Official Plugin Repository never finishes. We use 2 different ISPs to access the internet. We can open http://plugins.qgis.org/plugins/plugins.xml?qgis=2.6 in the browser without XML parsing errors. A quick fix would be highly appreciated, so we can do our plugin exercises :-) -- rgds, Reinier Battenberg Director Mountbatten Ltd. www.mountbatten.net tel: +256 758 801749 twitter: @batje ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user

When I restart now (i had restarted before), the error is gone. We are back. If anyone did something, thanks. If this is an error that may return maybe it can be a bit more descriptive? OR split up this email, so it is more clear what it is about. Because it looks like you describe three (non related) problems? -1- From this error it looks like a bug: An error has occured while executing Python code: Traceback (most recent call last): File /Applications/QGIS.app/Contents/MacOS/../Resources/python/pyplugin_installer/installer_data.py, line 460, in xmlDownloaded if isCompatible(QGis.QGIS_VERSION, qgisMinimumVersion, qgisMaximumVersion): File /Applications/QGIS.app/Contents/MacOS/../Resources/python/pyplugin_installer/version_compare.py, line 188, in isCompatible if len(maxVer)TypeError: object of type 'NoneType' has no len() BUT: we should know if this is an error AFTER there has been a time out for the network request or not. It is not clear to me from the messages if this is only OSX related or that it also turns up on Windows (Lene?). -2- About the network request, we should dive into that one IF it occurs. Best when in such case put that in the IRC channel so people can check it. -3- Different providers have different capabilities. Have a look in the 'metadata' tab of the layer properties. Re: [Qgis-user] Errors when re-opening new installation of QGIS
Hi Richard, Its the same issue. Its all related to the download of the plugins xml file. Once you have the error, which happens when you start the application, because the plugin updater downloads the file, anything you do with plugin management keeps failing, but not always throwing an error. rgds, Reinier On 2015-01-14 13:02, Richard Duivenvoorde wrote: On 14-01-15 10:29, Reinier Battenberg wrote: When I restart now (i had restarted before), the error is gone.
