We need to know which installer you're using to help and at least a
partial list of the missing files.
If you install using the OS4Geo network installer, you can have
multiple versions installed at the same time, so you would not need
to uninstall 2.12 before installing 3.28.

Hello,

I've figured out the problem adding the repositories:
http://qgis.org/ubuntugis-nightly-release and
http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntugis/ubuntugis-unstable/ubuntu. Although I
believe that it's not a good practice to install nightly-release and/or

temporary situation.

Thanks Jürgen and Andre for the help.

Questions:

(1) Do I need to input the rotation value as both Rx and Ry?
(2)The documentation says rotations are input as seconds of arc rather

(3) How does the scaling parameter in towgs84 interact with the scale

The towgs84 parameters are really ment for small rotations only. If you
have big rotations, think of using a custom oblique mercator transformation.

That wasn't a bug. The window in which the initial packages worked - before
ubuntugis updated to GDAL 2.1.3 - was just very small ;)

Can you try in a terminal: apt-cache policy qgis

it should return 2.18.5+24xenial-ubuntugis-1

There was a bug related to the gdal-abi package in the first release,

please download the packages again. Maybe you need sudo apt-get update

You are probably trying to install from the qgis.org/ubuntugis repository
without having added the ubuntugis ppa.

Either install the ubuntu packages from qgis.org/debian, that don't need
dependencies outside of ubuntu or add the ubuntugis ppa to install from
qgis.org/ubuntugis (ie. QGIS w/ ubuntugis' GDAL 2.1.3).

Sure! I have a lot of docs to finish writing up on the new auth system, and
this is definitely on the list.

Hmm. I thought I fixed that issue:
http://hub.qgis.org/issues/13291

The MAP param should not be mandatory if there is a .qgs project file in
the same directory as the qgis_mapserv.fcgi. Can you verify this? Also,
make sure the project is saved from 2.12 Desktop first, or possibly make a
new project just for testing.

If loading a project file from the same directory as the qgis_mapserv.fcgi
without using the MAP param does not work, please add a post to the above
noted ticket. Thanks.

2015-10-28 Thread Henrik Uggla
I tried to set QGIS_AUTH_DB_DIR_PATH and the error message in the Apache log
disappeared. I still got the "WMS configuration error" message though. It
turned out to be the map parameter. In 2.8 you did not have to give the map
parameter when there were only one .qgs-file was present. In 2.12 it is
obviously mandatory. Thanks for your input!

Hi Henrik,

This is due to the new authentication system in 2.12 [0], and the support I
added to Server. When running Server, projects loaded that contain an
authentication configuration (instead of clear text username/password) for
accessing a secured resource, e.g. WMS using Basic Auth and HTTPS, need to be
able to access the new 'qgis-auth.db'.

The auth configurations are encrypted using a master password and stored in the
qgis-auth.db, which by default is located at ~/.qgis2/qgis-auth.db for a
desktop QGIS user. To enable Server support, I added two environment variables
to overcome the problems associated with automatically loading projects [1],
which are not yet fully documented:

* QGIS_AUTH_DB_DIR_PATH - Directory where an existing qgis-auth.db is located
or created if not present. This directory needs to be *writeable* by Server's
FCGI process user (which may differ from Apache's).

* QGIS_AUTH_PASSWORD_FILE - File path to file with master password as first
line. This is similar to password files used by database servers. The env
variable is read during QGIS startup, then removed from the env variables
space, so it is not available later on to the FCGI process or any Server
plugins. Since all auth configurations are encrypted, a master password is
required to access the qgis-auth.db, if a loaded project uses auth configs
stored in the qgis-auth.db.

What you have found is possibly a bug: the QGIS_AUTH_DB_DIR_PATH is now
required to start Server, even if no loaded project make use of the new auth
system. This is not really a bug if one considers the auth system setup
mandatory from 2.12+, like it is on Desktop. At the minimum, a
missing/non-writeable qgis-auth.db directory should throw a warning and not an
error, allowing Server to launch.

Please try setting QGIS_AUTH_DB_DIR_PATH to a directory writeable by the
Server's FCGI process user and see if Server starts normally. Then check that
qgis-auth.db is created in the directory.

Here is how to set the env variables for the FCGI process in Apache [2,3].
Note, setting them at the Apache process level will not work.

Hi Larry,

thank you for the amazing new auth system, IMHO it really adds a lot of
value expecially for corporate users.

Recently we've spent quite some time trying to keep the server
documentation up-to-date:

http://docs.qgis.org/testing/en/docs/user_manual/working_with_ogc/ogc_server_support.html
(source:
https://github.com/qgis/QGIS-Documentation/blob/master/source/docs/user_manual/working_with_ogc/ogc_server_support.rst
)

It would be awesome if you could keep the manual in sync by adding the
information about the new auth system (new ENV vars etc.).

Also, please make sure that the apache.conf examples are still basically
working.

Thanks!

I've installed it two days ago on a fresh Xubuntu 12.04 and it works fine.

Re: [Qgis-user] Problems with qgis 1.8 on win7

2012-06-20 Thread Agustin Lobo
Gracias otra vez Gerardo and thanks to everyone for helping out with this.
In fact, having the problem shown in

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3180464/ScreenShot004.jpg

is my major concern. I'll be away from that machine until Friday
afternoon so cannot test if this problem is caused
by having the google layer in the background and not having the plugin
installed, but it looks like this is the most reasonable explanation
at the moment.
I actually remember that I tried to install the Open Layers plugin
and could not find it. Perhaps because this plugin is in one of the
repos (Sourcepole) that cannot be automatically
displayed any more because the "Add 3rd party repositories" button is
gone. I (wrongly) assumed that the plugin had been moved to core. In
case the lack of the plugin is the reason, we have here the first
negative impact of eliminating the "Add..." button. I think that this
type of designing decisions should be consulted in the users lists to
listen to the opinion of a wider community.

Also, and in case I can confirm that the problem is caused by not
having the plugin installed, a more graceful error handling
would be appreciated (i.e. a message stating "QGIS cannot handle one
layer because the appropriate plugin is not installed"). But I
understand this could not be as easy as it seems.

I was looking at your original message, I just want to add that when I load the
layers individually, I am able to get the right click to check properties, or
the attribute table

Hi

a) I am unable to load the NegrodeChorrillosGoogleSimple.qgs file. I have a
"bad allocation" error.

b) I can manually load sitios.shp (2 points), Negro_de_chorrillos. shp and
Negro_de_chorrilloswgs84lonlat.shp.

c) PuntosNegroChorrillo.shp does load but does not show anything. I look at the
attribute table and there is nothing there.

d) I can manually load the negroChorrilloETMpuntos.jpg raster, nevertheless I
have negative coordinates, which are not lat lon (-7395853,-2790190 for
instance) .

Does this helps? I was working wit a 1.4gb DEM and a 700mb shaded relief model
with no problems to load layers individually or as a project

2012-02-14 Thread Alex Mandel
OpenLayers is Javascript (In the browser client side). You can use any
backend you want with it. Depending on your needs there are a lot of
choices. The general OSGeo Discuss email list might be a good place to
start if you explain how you want to use such a web interface.

If you're looking for something easy to use try QGIS server, which is
easy to setup with Ubuntu packages.

There are Java, Php, Python, .Net and several other commons options.

Thanks,
Alex

My suspicion is that the depend on different version of gdal or some
other underlying lib.

It looks like you should be ok if you use UbuntuGIS PPA
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntugis/+archive/ubuntugis-unstable as your
repo. Then you'll get a matching mapscript and qgis built against the
same libs.

FYI, just so you know ka-map and possibly php5-mapscript(more generally
mapscript) are no longer widely used or developed. So you might want to
start planning for what platform to move to next (in the next few years).
