Hi Tony,

I believe that 'Per ardua ad astra' is indeed the RAF motto.
'Sic itur ad astra' is the motto of my home town, Elgin way up North (under
the snow at the moment !)
And 'illegitamus non carborundum' is something else altogether :o)

Through hardship to the stars - or words to similar effect ( my
secondary modern skipped Latin )
Personally I liked the bit of Burns, but then I'm half Scot, further
more my sadly departed dad once won a prize for his knowledge of Burns
at Dumfries academy ( in the heart of Burns land).

Tony will no doubt wonder why (given this background) my grammar is so
often awry (;-), well they understand me over the border.
