what is the curent status of SOQL ?
is there any FTP client in the pipeline ?

Re: [ql-users] SOQL

2003-11-18 Thread Dent

I finished coding CHAP last Weekend and hope to test it
this coming Weekend. It will probably need some fiddling to
get it working properly.

I hope that will crack the ISP access problems that some
people have been experiencing.

I have the sources of an FTP client which I would like to
try to port to the soQL library but I haven't had time to
look at it yet.

Jon.

[ql-users] Spanish QL

2003-11-18 Thread Tony Firshman

Has anyone come across a spem internal memory expansion?

How was this implemented in the QL?
Was it one that simply plugged into the 8301 socket - with through
connector and wired to the 68008?

A Spanish customer has a dead QL with one in. I am trying to get better
info from him (8-)#

... I suspect the ROM additions are a red herring. Anyone a clue as to
what is there? An original Sinclair EPROM fudge?

I have just received de zx8301 chip, but the Ql doesn´t work.
The problem is the same, a grey picture in the monitor and a terrible
buzz on the speaker. so, do you have any idea about this? it would be
possible than a broken diode or a transistor in the QL inoperate the
computer totally? Is possible a faulty ROM, my Ql is a SPanish version
but with one EPROM and one strange board in the other ROM socket with a
74LS04 chip on it. I think that this is part of the SPEM memory
expansion, but i´m not sure. If i put a pair of ROMS in my QL it will
work or it doesn´t because need a special EPROM to work with the
expansion memory.
PD. My Ql is a issue 6 D14 revision with a SPEM internally
memory expansion.

[ql-users] QLs at the MicroMart Computer Fair, NEC, 30 Nov.

2003-11-18 Thread Alex Wells

Hi folks,

This adds some details to the recent notes from John Gilpin and Darren:

The Micro Mart computer fair will be held on Sunday 30th November 2003,
10am thru 5pm, in Hall 17 of the Birmingham NEC. It will include a
'Retro' section where Acorn, Amiga, Apple, Atari, Commodore, Vic20,
Sinclairs etc. will be running what is described as 'classic software'
- this includes games.

Your favorite operating systems (SmSQ and QDos) will also be present,
running on a QL, 2 or 3 SGC-Auroras, my Q-40, and a Q-60, if DD are
able to appear. John Gilpin and I will run the other machines. Sarah
will 'man' the Quanta stand. For the broad-minded, Linux will be
visible on request.

Our only 'Retro' activity will be genuine computation, if my 'black box'
can be persuaded to produce the circumstances of the transit of Venus
across the Sun in 1769. This event was seen by Captain Cook near Tahiti
in that year, while testing chronometers.

We hope lots of you will come by and support us.
The venue may be found at www.multimap.co.uk by entering the postal code
B40 1NT. The Multi-Map web site may also give you directions from your
address. I believe further information about the event may also be
found on Micro Mart's home page at www.micromart.co.uk, or at
www.necgroup.co.uk/visitor/thenec/

Re: [ql-users] ZeXcel Spectrum emulator supporting 65536 colours available

2003-11-18 Thread James Hunkins
So guys, trying to bate me on the G5 stuff I see :)
Yes it is but the G5 is so much faster :-) (You hear that Jim?
it's about time you offer me and Darren a job as Apple promoters... oh
and complimentary G5s too ;-)
Sorry but I can't supply you any complimentary machines but you are
welcome to come over and play with my dual G5 any time you are over
here :) And as for a job, being Apple fanatics, you already have the
job and are getting well paid for it (in self satisfaction that is).

And yes, the G5 is 'so' much faster :)

By the way, will be eventually playing with the emulators on the G5 but
too busy now with work and QDT. And still waiting for Microsoft to
release the VirtualPC update so that I can see what Marcel's QPC can do
on it - kind of expect it to virtually scream by! Probably won't
happen until after the first of next year (which is not too far
away...)

Cheers,
jim
