Thanks, Paul. I don't have the virus, thankfully. Yet it seems someone else has inadvertently acquired the 'Bugbear' virus ... my address has just been 'harvested', and an old email made use of to this list ... for plausablity. A search on the net has turned up lots of good advice and descriptions of the virus. There is a free removal download at the following :- ftp://ftp.f-secure.com/anti-virus/tools/f-bugbr.zip Which is about a 50K file. The virus will attempt to infect all Windows systems with Win95 and beyond. -- Malcolm Cadman

Go into your e-mail programs address book and add a NEW e-mail address. I used one like this [EMAIL PROTECTED] This has a 3 fold reason for being this way. 1. it is SUPPOSED to fail to be delivered. 2. When it is returned to you as "undeliverable" you know something went out when it should have not done so. So you can start looking for the reason. 3 By using 000 (Zeds, or Zeros) it should alpha sort to the TOP of your e-mail address list and go out soon after any infection starts to do its thing. -- Paul Holmgren Hoosier Corps #33, L-6 2 57 300-C's in Indy

Hi Folks This email received from Malcolm Cadman was infected with bugbear32, Norton has deleted here, when I hit reply it shows as going back to malcolm Somebody playing with this list? It is now virus free Regards Mike [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.macnamaras.com Scanned with Norton AV - Original Message - From: "Malcolm Cadman" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, November 15, 2002 11:39 PM Subject: [ql-users] 10BaseT Ethernet on the Q40/And of course a stupid question :-) > > In article <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, Timothy > Swenson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> writes > > > >At 12:52 AM 11/4/2002 +, you wrote: > > > >> >> Thierry Godefroy knows, I'm sure > >> > > >> >Has anybody heard of him lately? > > > >Being a French Naval Officer, the odds are that Thierry might be at sea and > >out of communication. > > Yes, he did say that he off on a posting for around one year. > > ( Although I suspect he has a pod >

YET :-) Just getting into gear here marcel When you get them, have a look in the SMSQ-PCFiles ZIP archive. Amongst many other interesting documents (all in MS Word format, unfortunately), you'll find one called PCInt3.DOC. Here's the abstract: "This document describes the principles of the QXL-PC communications and details the code and timing on both sides. The protocols are also outlined." Internally it's really the same thing as far as the Ethernet chip is concerned. If you can't find one, i think I can get you an ATlantic (NE2000) compatible with both 10Base2 and 10BaseT. If the software doesn't do it, IIRC this chip has a pin option (pull up/down) that forces the media attachment option. >Also, does anybody have info on how the QXL talks to the ISA >bus? [ql-users] 10BaseT Ethernet on the Q40/And of course a stupid question :-)
In 10 minutes I'll be the proud owner of a Q40 (Yipe!!! :-) which begs the question anyone knows of a 10BaseT Ethernet ISA adapter that works with it? I don't want to get a 10Base2 one and then have to find a Twisted Pair converter for the coaxial. Also, does anybody have info on how the QXL talks to the ISA bus? It would be interesting (to say the least) to put the QXL there and use it together with the Q40 ;- Phoebus
