I never liked the idea of lumping these four programs together, prefering the single-program versions. However, the extra capabilities of the Xchange versions of the programs, plus the fact that the whole package has been updated to run on modern QL systems leaves little choice. To get round the fiddle of negotiating around the different programs I normally run each in its own instance of Xchange. I use a variety of startup scripts, attached to hotkeys, depending on what I want to do: One will load Xchange with Quill, loading the default document template, another will load Xchange with Archive, etc. Using hotkeys I can switch between different intances of Quill or Archive, etc. It would be nice if QDT would support this. Quill and Archive, and to a lesser extent, Abacus, are still among my most used programs. (Are there any more of us dinosaurs out there?) I dont see Qpac 1 and 2 anywhere in your list - or does QDT supercede them all? BTW I notice Easel no longer seems to display properly under GD2. Advice, anyone? Per

Re: [ql-users] QDT : Program Recognition assistance request
Thanks, Dilwyn. As per my email to Malcolm, could you privide some additional details to go with your suggestions? Your description of the file names is great. - are there any executables that are support and should not get their own icons (IE: don't normal get directly launched/run)? - do any of them have a minimum required command line to run (optional) Again, thanks!
