Re: [ql-users] Quanta Claus is coming...
I remember someone asked if someone would prepare a QL calendar for next year (unfortunately I deleted all ql-users mails recently, because I was so frustrated by all those tons of ...). But anyways - that IS a good question, isn't it? My spontaneous answer would have been: Quanta Claus - who else? But since we are all adults (more or less) we know that Quanta Claus does not really exist. Must admit at the moment I do only have a very rough idea how such a calendar could be like (I never had one before because I just started into the QL adventure this summer). I really would like to contribute to the effort to create one. Could we start a discussion on that subject??? There are plenty of S*BASIC listings out there which will calculate the calendar days/dates. If you want the listing I can email it to you. By now there are plenty of scanned and drawn QL images too, such as the ones on my website which I have no objection to anyone using unless they're specifically marked as being copyright material. It shouldn't be too hard to adapt one of these calendar calculating listings (the mathematical formula is called Zeller's Congruence) to do a simple form of a Calendar wizard like certain programs on other computers do. Decide on a small number of layout styles, e.g. Portrait orientation: Month/year at top Picture in centre Calendar at bottom Landscape: Picture either side Month/year above calendar Use SDUMP facilities to screen dump the graphic if QL colour modes. Sadly, AFAIK there are no screen dump utilities yet for GD2 coloured or shaded pictures yet (this is holding up graphical software development guys! Anyone on this list able to do something about this...such as porting or adapting free screen dump sources from out there...guess with the inclusion of screen printing software with the OS of other computers writing these is probably a dying art!) Not sure if Prowess graphics routines can print high colour graphics yet (Joachim?) -- Dilwyn Jones

Like it or not, some issues just have to be solved. get your duel pistons out, involve lawyers, do whatever you want - but please stop using this community like a hostage! Very funny. I really would like to contribute to the effort to create one. Could we start a discussion on that subject??? Good luck. Marcel

On the othe rhand, if there is really a problem like that, shouldn't you be told? (..) This is my advice to the involved parties: get your duel pistons out, involve lawyers, Let(s hope it doesn't come to that. do whatever you want - but please stop using this community like a hostage! I wasn't aware I was doing that. Telling the community about a problem in its midst is not holding it hostage, if believe. Wolfgang
