Re: Leaning more about Linux skills...
Marvel, I would recommend getting Red-Hat Linux if you are new to Linux/UNIX. >From the applications side, you want to get Apache (www.apache.org) for the proxy web server, WU-FTPd (www.landfield.com/wu-ftpd) for the FTP server and qmail (www.qmail.org) for the mail server. This is what most sites will use. Each of these has relevant mailing lists, newsgroups, FAQ's, etc. Hope this helps, Regards, Del. IMAP and vchkpw
Hi, I'm trying to find an IMAP server for qmail that is capable of Maildir access and using vchkpw. What does everyone recommend. Cheers, Del.
Maildir imap and vpopmail
Hi, I want to have imapd use Maildir format maildrops and use vchpw also. Does anyone do this, are there patches available for imap-maildir (or another imap server) or is there another method of implementing this? Thanks in advance, Cheers, Del.
Re: Maildir imap and vpopmail
Ken, Does this work with Netscape? I was under the impression that Netscape has a broken IMAP implementation. If this is the case then what alternatives are out there, and what do other people on the group use? ETRN
Hi, I'm about to patch ETRN into qmail-1.03, but would like to keep my existing setup and only install (if possible the patched files). Is the best way to do this to find all files that have been recently modified and attempt to install them in th4 correct place or is there a cleaner route? Cheers, Del.
How to kick serialmail
Hi, I have qmail 1.03 installed and am using serialmail to provide ETRN like functionality. The problem is that I don't know what to send to the server to 'kick' it into sending all mail for the domain assiciated with the IP address I am SMTP'ing from. Can anyone tell me what is meant to be sent to the server. Cheers, Del.
courier-imap & vchkpw
Hi, I can't seem to get courier-imap to compile using vchkpw as the authentication method. What I am doing is (as it doesn't seem to detect vchkpw is installed) specifying --with-authvchkpw, but it doesn't even compile the vchkpw module. Can someone tell me how to configure vchkpw as the authentication module for courier-imap either via options passed to configure, or by forcing courier-imap to see that vchkpw is installed. Cheers, Del.
Re-inject mail
Hi, A user of ours ,who has his pop account forwarding to another account, wants me to forward all the mail already in his account to this other account. What's the most efficient/clean way to do this. Thanks in advance. Cheers, Del.
Re: Unable to configure IMAP client
David, courier-imap can be configured with the option '--enable-workarounds-for-imap-client-bugs' which, as it says enables courier-imap to work with broken IMAP clients including Netscape and Outlook. Hope this helps, Del. qmail: can't create subfolder
Hi, I'm using courier IMAP (don't know if there's a mailing list) and am having problems allowing users to create subfolders from Netscape 4.x or Outlook It will create subfolders in Netscape however if you specify Inbox as the folder to create in and specify the new folder name as subfolder.newsubfolder Anyone seen this behaviour? Have I missed something? p.s. I'm using vchkpw for auth. Cheers, Del.
Re: qmail: can't create subfolder
Hi, Got Netscape working (by forcing a subscribe on the INBOX (wasn't set!)), but I still can't get Outlook (v5) or Outlook Express working. If anyone has instructions on setting up these clients, or possible causes, can the point me to them or post them to the group. Cheers, Del. courier IMAP and Outlook problem
Hi, I'm having difficulty getting MS Outlook 5 to create IMAP subfolders in Courier-IMAP. Does anyone have any experience of this, do they have it working? Can anyone offer any work around? Cheers, Del.
