Local delivery
Hi ppl, I have a secondary MX for a domain "dex.co.za" pointing to my qmail box. The primary MX points to an Exchange server, the Exchange server is on our local LAN. I created a virtual domain for "dex.co.za" on the qmail box. Is it possible that I can forward the email received for "dex.co.za" locally over the LAN?? (meaning that I forward to mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]) I tried this, but it does not work. Any suggestions welcome Regards Dewald
Re: unable_to_chdir_to_maildir
Hi, Thanks for the reply, The domains are all under /home/vpopmail/ The permissions for this spesific domain (and the maildirs under it) is 700, same as the other domains, with owner and group vpopmail. Any other ideas as to what might be wrong ? Re: Fixing open relay
Hi again, In /var/qmail/control I have symlinks pointing to /etc/qmail. This seems to work fine. But with this the server still relays mail for anyone. What did I miss here ? The default control directory for qmail is /var/qmail/control, but your control files are in /etc/qmail. I figured it was probably possible to change the control dir location, but I've never read any docs on the subject. If you didn't purposefully change the default location, perhaps your qmail is still looking in /var/qmail/control? Also, you might do a /var/qmail/bin/qmail-showctl and verify its output. Fixing open relay
Hi everybody, Some @#%^% spammer decided to abuse my mailserver today, and it ended up in orbs. I really want to fix this, but need some help. I have the following setup: qmail 1.03 with ucspi and daemontools vpopmail sqwebmail I am hosting mail for 7 domains, all connecting to the server via a 10.40 address range. I created /etc/tcp.smtp as follows: 10.40.:allow,RELAYCLIENT="" :allow and created the tcp.smtp.cdb file from that. In /etc/qmail/locals I have just the domainname of the server. In /etc/qmail/control/rcpthosts I have the names of the 7 domains In /etc/tcpcontrol there are 2 files: pop-3.rules and smtp.rules both these files have all 7 domainnames with :allow,RELAYCLIENT="" after each domainname (this was installed with qmail?) /etc/rc.d/init.d/smtpd looks like this: #!/bin/sh # # chkconfig: 345 81 30 # description: The SMTP daemon for qmail with optional RBL blocking. # # # Set standard values # SERVICE=smtpd PROGRAM=/var/qmail/bin/qmail-smtpd PORT=smtp #THISUID=0 #THISGID=0 #CONCURRENT=15 LOGFACILITY=2 # Source function library. . /etc/rc.d/init.d/qmail-functions readdefault CONCURRENT concurrencysmtpd 20 THISUID=`id -u qmaild` THISGID=`id -g qmaild` # # Uncomment these lines when testing or set a HOSTNAME is you want something # else than the cananonical name for this host # #HOSTNAME=`/bin/hostname` #HOST="-l $HOSTNAME" # # Security Options. Limiting size of emails with databytes
Hi, I am trying to limit the size of inbound/outbound mails on my mailserver. Will an entry in databytes under /var/qmail/control do this ? Running qmail 1.03+vpopmail+sqwebmail here Thanks Dewald
Re : Limiting size of email with databytes
Hi, In response to my first post, I did the following: I added 100 to the databytes file under /var/qmail/control, but see that qmail just drops the connection when it reaches 100 bytes. How do I tell qmail to send a bounce messages to the originating host ? (Or even better, where can I read up on this, qmail man pages does not tell me this) Thanks Dewald

[Unable_to_chdir_to_maildir (#4.2.1)]
Hi everybody, Since yesterday I started getting the following messages in my maillogs: delivery 460 deferral: Unable_to_chdir_to_maildir (#4.2.1) there are hundreds of these messages, but only for one user (myself) The rest of the mail gets delivered as usual. I sent a mail from the console (echo test | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]) and right after that these messages started to appear. Did I break something by doing this, or is it just coincidence ? The permissions on my Maildir is exactly the same as other Maildirs, and no other changes was made to the machine Anybody have any idea what could have caused this/know how I can fix this ? I am using RedHat 6.0 with qmail 1.03 + vpopmail + sqwebmail Regards Dewald

[stats on maillog files]
Hi everybody, Does anyone know of a program that can analyze the qmail logfiles and supply the following stats: 1) output per domain? 2) domain that received/sent the most mail? 3) user that received/sent the most mail? I have been using qmail-analog, but it is not sufficient for what I need. regards Dewald
qmail-analog
Hi everybody, I hope someone is willing to help me out with qmail-analog. I just don't understand how it is supposed to work. How do I get qmail-analog to give me stats on the maillog files ? Anybody out there willing to help a newbie ? I am running RedHat 6.0 on an intel machine, with qmail 1.03, vpopmail, qmailanalog-0.70 thanks in advance Dewald
Mail Logfiles
Hi everybody, Slight offtopic question... Can anyone recommend a program to analyze the maillog files generated by qmail ? Anything that will show the amount of mail sent and received will do at the moment. thanks Deew
newbie needs help
Hi ppl, Got Qmail and vpopmail installed, and installed qmail-analog Now this may seem like a stupid question, but I don't know what else to do. How do I get the output from the qmail-analog commands ? What do I have to type to see the stats ? thanks Dewald
Problem sending mail
Hi everybody, First of all, I quite a newbie to Linux/qmail etc I Hope someone can help me out here. Have a server with RedHat 6 and qmail 1.03 All of the clients that connect to this server for email are using Outlook Express. None of them can send mail from this server, everytime you try to send mail, the Outlook client responds with the following error: "Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection" Sending mail used to work, but I must have stuffed up something/somewhere. I read the FAQ's but could not find anything about this error. Has anybody encountered this problem before/ Is this a mistake on my side ? I hope someone can help me out with this cheers
