Dots in .qmail-names
Hey, I am trying to use a dot-qmail file called .qmail-clayton.cottingham and it seems that qmail can't handle files with dots in them. It works fine without the dot. Is this true? How can I make it work? thanks. -- - T H E I N T E R N E T M A R K E T I N G C E N T E R - Gary Richardson[EMAIL PROTECTED] System Administrator - -

dotqmail scripting
Hey, I'm still having troubles with the dotqmail scripting. I can not go |scriptname as someone suggested since my script simple prints the email address the message is supposed to go to. Is there some way to use variables in the .qmail files? I want to do something like: `scriptname` to have it forward to a specific address. Can I do this with a simple script or am I going to have to reinject the message instead of redirecting it? thanks.
Re: dotqmail scripting
Actually, I modified the script to just do the inject. That worked, but then I got an email about the already built 'forward'. I decided to switch to that since it is probably a whole lot more tested thanks guys. It's not as painful as it sounds; read `man qmail-inject` or even `man mailsubj` for details. .qmail- files don't allow you to do quite what you want above. conredirect might suffice, but we don't know enough about what you want to accomplish. dot-qmail scripting
Hey, I have a script that 'round-robins' email boxes for a high traffic account. It basically cycles through a list of addresses. I can't seem to get it to work properly though. Doing: `scriptname` doesn't seem to work. I have also tried:: | EMAIL=`loadbalance.pl test` echo $EMAIL /tmp/sentto $EMAIL which also fails. Any suggests on how I can do this?

I know about the MX, but if the accounts are on the primary mail server, and it goes down, how do you ensure the the accounts and mail are duplicated on the second sever. Does that make sense ? A secondary MX doesn't function as a secondary pop. It only recieves the mail and will continually attempt to forward it until the lower priority smtp server comes back to life. Pop and SMTP are two different entities.
Re: DO NOT TRY INSTALLING QMAIL ON MANDRAKE
I've installed qmail on 3 mandrake 7 boxes without a hitch. This messages is comming through a mandrake box now. Sounds like you have a dns problem. On Fri, 21 Apr 2000, MiGhi wrote: Hi everybody. I tried and tried to install QMAIL 1.03 on Mandrake7.0 with NO SUCCESS! Something seems to work wrong on Mandrake, and qmail gives CNAME LOOKUP FAILURE. I tried to reinstall the OS + qmail 5 times! The log said CNAME LOOKUP FAILURE every time! I tried to apply the DNS patch The log said CNAME LOOKUP FAILURE every time! I tried to change the router configuration: The log said CNAME LOOKUP FAILURE every time! I installed latest bind: The log said CNAME LOOKUP FAILURE every time! I installed RedHat: everything is working fine. Has someone got an idea about this? Has someone got the same problem? Best regards to all Miguel Beccari

I fixed my DNS problem (applied a patch, and installed latest bind) and I finished to think the problem is Mandrake7, because qmail didn't run. I only wanted to know why. I know this fact is strange, but is real: qmail 1.03 does not work with Mandrake7. CNAME LOOKUP FAILUR != Broken Mandrake7 It means a broken DNS configuration. It can't be patched, it has to be fixed in your config files.
qmail-pop3 problems with 'large' accounts
Hi, I'm having problems with a pop user checking their. There are around 12000 emails in their MailDir directory and I get the following error when I try to download them: -ERR unable to scan $HOME/Maildir Connection closed by foreign host. The host names are all set correctly. Also, if I empty out the box to around 6000 emails, it will work fine. I'm running a brand new linux system with qmail-1.03 Any suggestions? -- The bugs you have to avoid are the ones that give the user not only the inclination to get on a plane, but also the time. -- Kay Bostic I love TranSys -- ftpgary
