Odd error

2001-06-24 Thread Mike Hodson

I just changed over my maildirs and virtual domains from one server to
another, and all seems to be working well. Until now that is.
While watching a log tail -f of my qmail-send logs as logged via
daemontools piped thru tai64nlocal.

What does this mean exactly, and is this a large problem or a minor
error?

Also, this seems like a serious problem I got while trying to actually
send this message via my own server:

Did you move your queue from one machine to the other? If so, your queue needs
to be fixed. Look for queue-fix at http://www.qmail.org/top.html

odd error - with /etc/qmail/aliases ?!?

2000-11-06 Thread Greg Cope

Dear All

I've setup a qmail / vpopmail combo and added a Virtual domain. This
machine is not connected to the internet (I am using it for local
testing / install scripts for a bunch of servers).

It delivers to know address fine - but when I send a message to a
nonexistant_address@existing_domain I get the log entries below (no
funny what do the logs say ... comments ;-).

I know I am missing something simple - but why is qmail looking in
/etc/qmail/aliases ?!?!

in /var/qamil/aliases/.qmail-postmaster is:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Is this mix up due to the fact that I do not have a DNS entry for
localhost.localdomain (obviously!) and that gjjc@rubber ... is a non
local address ?

Clues for this cluess admin welcome!

Greg

One of your .qmail* files somewhere on your system has the line:
/etc/qmail/aliases
or
/etc/qmail/aliases/

Unless you are using an unusual qmail distribution, or you modified
the source/applied an unknown patch.

This is your clue to solve the problem. The fact that the delivery is
being done to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" means that Netscape sent the
message with an envelope recipient of "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" instead of
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]". Look for the problem in Netscape (could be any
number of things, including perhaps a wrong address book entry).

Odd Error w/ Virtual Domains

1999-09-14 Thread Shishir Gundavaram

I'm seeing a very odd error (or maybe it isn't and I'm just clueless)
when working with virtual domains. Here is my setup on machine xyz.com:

  DNS:
  xyz.com. IN A1.2.3.4
  staff.xyz.com. IN A1.2.3.4
  xyz.com. IN MX 10 xyz.com.
  staff.xyz.com. IN MX 10 xyz.com.

  defaultdomain:
  staff.xyz.com

  locals:
  localhost
  staff.xyz.com

  me:
  staff.xyz.com

  rcpthosts:
  localhost
  staff.xyz.com
  xyz.com

  virtualdomains:
  xyz.com:xyz-com

Now, if I connect to xyz.com on port 25 and issue:

  HELO my.net
  MAIL FROM:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
  RCPT TO:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
  DATA
  To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
  Subject: Test to @staff

  123 test
  .

The mail gets delivered just right, and I see this in the logs:

starting delivery 75: msg 65546 to local [EMAIL PROTECTED]

But if I use a MUA, like Netscape, to send the message to
[EMAIL PROTECTED], it's getting sent to: [EMAIL PROTECTED],
and I see this in the logs:

starting delivery 76: msg 65546 to local [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Any idea what's going on?

Thank you.
