Starting POP3 service - Clear Document

    I seem to be not successful in starting the POP3 service 
and SMTP after nearly trying it third time Qmail Installation.
 
Could anyone clearly specify a document how this could be done in Red Hat. 
As in Red Hat 6.0 as well as 6.1 it shows 
POP-3 and not POP3  in the inet.conf file.
 
Any proper documents for this please.

If you would tell a bit more about your problems/errors people would
probably be able to help.

P.S. I never understand why people always look for something especially
 for this and that Linux Distribution. Always thought that Linux is
 kinda Unix ... am I wrong?
