What does this mean?

Is this something I should be concerned about or is this normal Qmail
activity?
Thanks

those are normal processes, which are sending mail via SMTP to non-local
servers
their count is controlled by the file /var/qmail/control/concurrencyremote

That's qmail delivering your messages, or the messages of your users. A normal occurrence, as long as you have users who should be sending mail. Otherwise, you need to look into your relaying rules.

You haven't properly installed qmail.

Properly install qmail.

Also, "server" is a poor choice for a host name. See

Is, perhaps, your queue disk full?

(df /var/qmail/queue should tell you this)

May be a number of things. How much space do you have left in your /var
partition (if that is where qmail is installed)? I would check there first,
then look into any possible permissions issues.

Your queue disk is probably full or out of inodes.

The problem turned to be a full disk.

What does this mean? "unable to parse"

2000-05-11 Thread James

I am having a small problem when trying to issue the command:

/usr/local/sbin/qmail cdb

I get this error:

tcprules: fatal: unable to parse this line: 127.:allow,RELAYCLIENT=""
/usr/local/sbin/qmail cdb

That's all on one line. How come it can't parse that line?

2000-05-03 Thread Jason Brooke

It means it has the execute bit set. If you do chmod 600 .qmail-whatever it
will probably be fine That will make the file readable and writeable by it's
owner, with no permissions for anyone else. You may want to find a reference
on basic unix file system permissions.

Why? He just told you to do exactly what "qmail cdb" does, and it did
exactly the same thing. Why should tcprules suddenly like
/etc/tcp.smtp if it hasn't been changed?

What does:

  od -c /etc/tcp.smtp

say?

Have you checked to see if this file is using DOS style CR/LF line

Follow the intructions contents in the qmail-howto.html to compile the
rules file: /etc/tcp.stmp.

 tcprules /etc/tcp.smtp.cdb /etc/tcp.smtp.tmp < /etc/tcp.smtp

When I go to the directory "/usr/local/bin" and type your suggestion:

./tcprules /etc/tcp.smtp.cdb /etc/tcp.smtp.tmp < /etc/tcp.smtp

I still get the same error:
tcprules: fatal: unable to parse this line: 127.:allow,RELAYCLIENT=""
/usr/local/sbin/qmail cdb

I'm confused.

For example, if you LAN is 154.0 and your IP adrres for Qmail Host
in internet is 192.168.23.5, a tcp.smtp file, must be:

127.0.0.1:allow,RELAYCLIENT=""
154.0.:allow,RELAYCLIENT=""
192.168.23.:allow,RELAYCLIENT=""
