RE: [qmailadmin] still invalid login
Problem solved. The nosuid flag was set on the /var partition. Without the flag, qmailadmin does work. For the moment I don't see any other solution, to disable nosuid flag in /etc/fstab for mount the /var partition. Are there any plans, to let qmailadmin run as a daemon and the cgi is only the webinterface, that connects to it? (as in the new version of sqwebmail) Perhaps the connection to the daemon would go over a socket (then Apache can be run chrooted again). thierry -Original Message- From: Jeremy Kitchen [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Freitag, 5. RE: [qmailadmin] still invalid login
Hi I've written an email about my problem a week ago. I didn't get any response yet. Until today I tried a few more things (which didn't help): - i've installed qmailadmin (1.0.29) and vpopmail (5.3.30) - i've changed the owner and group of the qmailadmin executable to different users (www, vpopmail, ...) It looks like OpenBSD 3.4 has problems with qmailadmin, but I haven't any ideas why this could be. Of course I run apache non chrooted and i can authenticate myself against vpopmail with imap (as example, also with pop). Is there someone who has the same problem or know what the problem is? Perhaps we could solve this issue together. thx thierry If you provided a little bit more detail about what problem you are having, and what errors you are getting, then you might find someone that will help you. Post as much information as you can relating to your error and let's go from there :) Gary What information do you need? I installed qmailadmin (during the build there weren't any problems) but i can't login into it (always the message invalid login appears). I didn't get any error, nothing (yes i see the cgi and i can execute it). also i checked the logfiles (syslog and apache log), but there aren't any entries.
Re: [qmailadmin] still invalid login
Let me understand here, Are you unable to login to qmailadmin as postmaster to manage the domain? or you can't login to check your mail via imap? two very different problems as I'm sure you know :) Gary yeah i've created virtual domains (elsewhere i can't login with imap :)). you're right. i get to the login screen, but i can't login. -Original Message- From: Gary Hartl - Curwe.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Freitag, 5. Did you add any virtual domains? you will need to create a virtual domain for each domain you are going to be accepting email for and set a postmaster password. Check the vpopmail documentation for help on this. I'm assuming that you can get to the qmailadmin login screen via browser, but just have no way of logging in. Cheers, Gary

Re: [qmailadmin] still invalid login
if this was my systemand assuming i didn't have much setup on it qmailadmin/vpopmail wise..i would do a fresh reinstall, watch the compiling closly and try to spot anything obscure.. i will try a qmailadmin install today on my openbsd 3.4/sparc64 and see if i can get the same thing you get Stay in touch Gary PS if you want to take this off list i don't mind. :) - Original Message - From: Rietsch Thierry [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, December 05, 2003 10:25 AM Subject: RE: [qmailadmin] still invalid login yes of course. for testing i've enabled enable-clear-password in vpopmail, so the password is correct that I enter. -Original Message- From: Gary Hartl - Curwe.com [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Freitag, 5. This is almost always an indication that qmailadmin isn't running as the vpopmail user. It can be caused by incorrect permissions on qmailadmin, qmailadmin being stored on a volume that is mounted in fstab to disallow suid binaries, or an apache configuration that doesn't allow suid binaries (suexec?). As I recall, the security of OpenBSD has caused problems for qmailadmin in the past. Perhaps an OpenBSD user can help out? I'll look into adding code to qmailadmin in the next development release that can report when the login problems are caused by invalid permissions instead of just a bad password. -- Tom Collins - [EMAIL PROTECTED] QmailAdmin: http://qmailadmin.sf.net/ Vpopmail: http://vpopmail.sf.net/ Info on the Sniffter hand-held Network Tester: http://sniffter.com/
