Re: [qmailtoaster] How to disable checkers on send mail.

2006-08-29 Thread Anatoly A. Pedemonte Ku

produccion...

Saludos cordiales...

Caution: The following debugging technique creates a *ton* of
log messages.

Change /var/qmail/supervise/smtp/run file, adding recordio line
as follows:

exec /usr/bin/softlimit -m 1200 \
 /usr/bin/tcpserver -v -R -H -l $HOSTNAME -x $TCP_CDB -c
"$MAXSMTPD" \

 -u "$QMAILDUID" -g "$NOFILESGID" 0 smtp \
 /usr/bin/recordio \
 $RBLSMTPD $BLACKLIST $SMTPD $VCHKPW /bin/true 2>&1

Stop qmail, start qmail.

Every detail of all smtp sessions will be logged in the smtp log.
Try sending something through the server and see what you get.
Remove recordio and stop/start qmail to stop logging of detail
once you get a sample.
as soon as i do that, and i tail, or cat
/var/log/qmail/smtp/current i get garble from the output, such as:

can I change it?

Thanks...

Do a 'ps -ax | grep mysqld' and make sure that the option
'--skip-networking' is not on.
Also according to mysql's website, this error can result if a DNS
lookup fails on version 5.
For more logging, try starting it with the --log-warnings=2, or adding
the log-warnings=2 line to your /etc/my.cnf file.

Curiously I had a DNS problem, but everything is fine since this afternoon, and the error occurs again in the last minutes...I'm adding this parameter to MySQL and will wait to some output..

Matt Decker

I don't think that the two delivered-to messages are the problem, only
a coincidence. If you can configure DSpam to not process local mail,
that would do it.

The email address is forwarded to an account on the same local domain as
the original address. DSpam shows two full sets of DSpam headers each
with their own unique Dspam ID #'s in the one message.

Is this normally how forwards are processed in most MTA's (2
"delivered-to" headers instead of just one)?

Yes, this is normal. That way you can trace back how the message got from
its originator to its destination.

You could be right though, maybe I'm not focusing on the right thing.
I've search the DSpam user group and google and haven't found an answer.

How/where is DSpam hooked into qmail?
When you send an email from yourself to yourself, is it scanned?
There should be a way to configure it to not scan local (intra-domain) mail.

Do a 'ps -ax | grep mysqld' and make sure that the option

Also according to mysql's website, this error can result if a DNS

For more logging, try starting it with the --log-warnings=2, or adding
the log-warnings=2 line to your /etc/my.cnf file.

Is there a way to prevent this? I would like it to ONLY have one
delivered-to just for the account that it is really being delivered to
and not the original email address that it was sent to.

I'm trying to integrate DSpam into my Qmailtoaster and having two
"Delivered-to" headers causes DSpam to process these messages twice.

Matt Decker

I don't think that the two delivered-to messages are the problem, only a
coincidence. If you can configure DSpam to not process local mail, that
would do it.

did you check mysql user accounts (privileges)? maybe mysql is droping
conections and not logging it. For example [EMAIL PROTECTED] is not defined
in mysql... Maybe to start mysql with max logs and then check logs...

This the the same error I am dealing with, on FC5 with
vpopmail-toaster-5.4.13-1.3.2 and mysql-5.0.22-1.FC5.1. I've not found
any fix and (as you can see) have applied the update at
devel.qmailtoaster.com. My current fix is to restart qmail hourly with
a cron job, which I really don't like.

[qmailtoaster] Qmail forwards

2006-08-29 Thread Matt Decker
When I create forwards in the Qmail Admin and then receive email from
those forwards I always get two "Delivered-to:" headers in my message
header. The one "Delivered-to:" is for the original email address the
message was sent to and the second is the email address that is actually
going to be delivered to.

I don't think the failure is in SURBL, because it appears that smtp is

In the words of Chief Inspector Clouseau, "Ah yes, the old smtplf ploy". ;)

Looks as if the incoming email is malformed. My question then becomes, if
smtp is sending a temporary failure (451) message to the sender, then why is
simscan processing it?

RE: [qmailtoaster] CRAM-MD5 AUTH for POP3 in Thunderbird

2006-08-29 Thread Alex
Thanks,

I have pop3-ssl set up already with certs.

I noticed authentication is done through APOP which I guess is a secure
POP protocol, so CRAM-MD5 is not needed since passwords are not sent in
clear text with APOP. Am I correct?

Hey Alex,

The QmailToaster doesn't support this. You must use pop3-ssl for secure
e-mail.

There are instructions on the wiki for setting up legitimate certs.

Did the mysql log show anything strange in
it?Nothing... that just is working
and ready for connections.I don't know if it's strange, but I saw
that's at least 16 authdaemond running simultaneously on the server, and
there is no users trying to access It. Thanks.-- [

[qmailtoaster] Greylisting in Qtoaster

2006-08-29 Thread ldap
I was wondering if there is one who has implemented greylisting as a means
of fighting spams.

Is it effective?

Any information that will help implement it is greatly appreciated.

Crispin.
