Read the instructions on http://www.qmailtoaster.com/centos/cnt40

You need to run the dependencies script, which will install things
needed to perform the compilation.

I had this very same problem on the last toaster I built. I did a "yum
install pcre-devel.i386" and all worked fine. For some reason the
dependency is mis reported. Hope this helps.

Some installs have the noexec option set for the /tmp partition, which causes
scripts to fail. Edit /etc/fstab and remove noexec if it is on the /tmp
partition and reboot.

This could also be fixed by calling the script with a specified shell
interpreter:

sh /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.1738

SA appears to be having a problem all right. I wouldn't up max-children, as
they suck up a ton of ram and you'll just start paging which will make
things worse.

I'm guessing that you're not running local only rules (-L option in the run
file). If so, I'd add the -L option back in for the time being. That'll make
your spam detection a little less effective for the moment, but I'm guessing
mail will start flowing again.

If mail flows using the -L option, my guess is that you have a DNS
configuration problem.

Eric you are a genius! DNS is the issue here... I removed some domains
MX's so it wouldn't point to the mail server for the time being. The
point is; nmap shows the port open... However I still have a huge
process list of smtpd... but no simscan & spamc... I still have no
clue as to why the child list is so large... but the DNS is certainly
effecting it.

Thanks again for all your help.

I'd use dos2unix. It'll convert mac files too. I'm not sure your sed would

I'm thinking you're on to something here. We should probably find the 'best'
sendmail/qmail-inject replacement available and include it in the toaster.
Are you volunteering?

SA appears to be having a problem all right. I wouldn't up max-children, as
they suck up a ton of ram and you'll just start paging which will make
things worse.

I'm guessing that you're not running local only rules (-L option in the run
file). If so, I'd add the -L option back in for the time being. That'll make
your spam detection a little less effective for the moment, but I'm guessing
mail will start flowing again.

If mail flows using the -L option, my guess is that you have a DNS
configuration problem.

Let us know...

Re: [qmailtoaster] qtp feature suggestion

2006-11-15 Thread Quinn Comendant
I thought about this, stopped thinking about it, now am thinking about it again.

In /etc/php.ini there is a config option:

sendmail_path =

Which can be set to a shell wrapper script:

#!/bin/sh
sed "s/\r\n?/\n/g" | qmail-inject

Which should work in all cases. Maybe. You would hope so.

There are other reasons to use one of the more elaborate replacements for
qmail-inject: handling not just bad line endings (and again, I'm not even sure
this IS a feature of new-inject) but gracefully supporting messages with
garbled or less-than-perfect headers and formatting.

Unlike qsmtpd, which in its original form is said to fail and deny incoming
messages with only LF (\n) endings and give the sender an error message,
qmail-inject issues no such error and will just pass the message through. Does
qmail-inject have a log file?

Anybody using this? Is there any interest to add this package to the

Yesterday I realized some PHP applications we build that generate MIME mail messages sent
through PHP's mail() function failed. They were sending messages with CFLF (\r\n) line
endings. Qmail-inject expects only LF (\n) terminated locally injected messages. Sendmail
didn't care either way. I don't know if any of our other web sites / web apps need to be
updated (250+ sites) but I feel the safest thing would be to just run a different
"sendmail" injection program that is more safe (i.e. lenient) than
qmail-inject. I'm not sure if new-inject is the answer. Any other programs available?

I generate a few reports a week that I have emailed to me. I use mutt to
send them. Not sure how it handles CR/LFs though.

None, I advise everyone to change now.

i presume this will have effects on the SBL- & XBL- related rules here.

I'm guessing that SA is having problems. I would:

.) Verify permissions (vpopmail:vchkpw) on /home/vpopmail/.spamassassin/*
.) # qmailctl stop
.) kill any zombied processes (qmail-smtp, spamc)
.) # sudo -u vpopmail -H spamassassin -D --lint
.) # sa-learn -u vpopmail --force-expire

Let us know if that clears things up or not.

Eric,

Thanks for the quick reply... it's appreciated greatly. However I ran
the above commands & my two problems (filtered socket... & endless
amounts of smtpd processes) still exist. I'll try running them again,
but do you got any other ideas?

 Great.

I've modified qtp-whatami for mdv2007, and corrected the settings (no
 mdk103) for mdk2006.

Will you please test it? You can simply get it from the development
 branch:
 # wget http://svn.shubes.net/qtp/trunk/bin/qtp-whatami
 then run it
 # ./qtp-whatami
It should report your distro and version.

 Thanks!

Ok i have tested it one problem only
sh qtp-whatami
qtp-whatami v0.2.2
DISTRO=Mandriva
OSVER=2007.0
ARCH=x86_64
BUILD_DIST=mdv200764
BUILD_DIR=/usr/src/RPM
This machine's OS is supported, but this version/arch has not been tested.

the build dir is wrong for mdv2007
it is

ls /usr/src/rpm/
BUILD/ RPMS/ SOURCES/ SPECS/ SRPMS/

but BUILD_DIR=/usr/src/RPM is ok up to mdk2006

[qmailtoaster] SMTP connection problem

2006-11-15 Thread Nicolas Wegener

Hello all,

I have been polling my hair out trying to fix this problem. Emails are
taking for ever to get to my server, I believe I have pin pointed the
problems, however I cannot find whats wrong with my install.

I've been using qmail-toaster on this domain for about a year now & I
love it (good work guys). However I had to upgrade to fc5, in the
process I had to remove the qmail-toaster rpms. After backing
everything up reinstalling qmail-toaster I'm stuck with a "filtered"
smtp socket (according to nmap) runing on the host. I checked the
process list 'ps -AH' & I have a zillion "qmail-smtpd -> simscan ->
spamc". I've been back & forth with the built in firewall (which I
really don't like), It's currently disabled and at this point there is
no firewall between the server and outside world.

if anyone has any clue as to what I did wrong... Just let me know...
If you need to see some other file... Just let me know... Thanks in
advance for your help.

I've included tcp.smtp, my process list, & the nmap results.

The host is "renslowssystems.com"

Hey Tobbe,

You may want to send the patches directly to Nick. He'll be the one
implementing the Mandriva support.

Thanks,

Great.

I've modified qtp-whatami for mdv2007, and corrected the settings (no
mdk103) for mdk2006.

Will you please test it? You can simply get it from the development branch:
# wget http://svn.shubes.net/qtp/trunk/bin/qtp-whatami
then run it
# ./qtp-whatami
It should report your distro and version.

Thanks!

yes mandriva uses a lot of soft links

[qmailtoaster] Re: qmail-toaster 1.3.8 release problem

2006-11-15 Thread Yeak Nai Siew
Hi Erik,

Just to inform you that I recompiled 1.3.8 and then ran again
/var/qmail/bin/dh_key, there is no more problem. I think upgrade direct
may not work. Need to initialize something.

Thanks.

tobbe,

Will you post the results of
# ls -l /etc/*release
for me? I was under the impression that there is a /etc/mandriva-release
file for mandriva. Perhaps there are some links going on. This command will
(I hope) show me what I need to know. I'm good with the content of the file(s).

Thanks!

You should uninstall v0.1 and install v0.2. See the wiki.

There is one, it is the last option in the menu.

Noone use Fedora Core 6 x86_64? No any idea to solve problem?
If any extra info needed I send it but what info?

In general, no! Most of the people on this list are using CentOS or
RHEL here. And as I don't have a 64 bit machine, I couldn't test my
FC6 x86_64 bit build.

I'v test this problem with qmail-toaster-1.03-1.3.7 and
qmail-toaster-1.03-1.3.8 - the same efect.
