Looking for someone willing to give me a hand with this. Works fine but
there's not much for security. I could use captcha and a few other little
basic things to make it more secure.

Thanks much.

[qmailtoaster] Clamav Database/Signature Question

2007-10-27 Thread Ron Allison

I am having a hard time figuring out what is
up with my Clamav installation.  It looks to me like I have an issue
somewhere, but my knowledge of Clamav is pretty limited.  Specifically
it looks like I have a problem in my databases or in the loading of
them somewhere.  What I show right now if I run the sigtool to check
the number of signatures is:

[admin]# sigtool --list-sig | wc -l
294787

If I look at my log files I see:

Last Status:
main.inc is up to date (version: 44, sigs: 133163, f-level: 20, builder: sven)
Downloading daily-4603.cdiff [100%]
daily.inc updated (version: 4603, sigs: 28186, f-level: 21, builder: ccordes)
Database updated (161349 signatures) from db.local.clamav.net (IP: 208.67.80.27)
Received signal: wake up

It looks to me like I'm loading more
signatures than I need, but maybe I'm just reading that wrong.  I've
been looking all morning and I can't figure out what best to do with
Clamav.  Is there a way to dump your existing database and have
Freshclam download a new copy?  Would that be a good idea?

Any input you have would be appreciated.

I guess I should say that I cannot find any issues in my log files and
Freshclam and Clamav appear to be working fine.  I am seeing Clamav
chew up a bunch of memory which is what got me to digging around and I
stumbled on my signatures show such a high number.

Thanks.

Ron

[qmailtoaster] QMT and vqregister

2007-10-27 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Anyone using vqregister with their QMT setup?

I'm looking for something that will allow me to let users sign up for their
own email accounts, webmail, possibly POP/IMAP and safely of course.

Hi Jake,

thanks for your answer.
for the spamassassin, i'll check for other
posibilities. but for the receiving email from other
mail server, there's one thing that i still learn,
because when i made configuration like /etc/tcprules.d
like this

XXX.XXX:allow,RELAYCLIENT="",DKSIGN="/var/qmail/control/domainkeys/%/private",RBLSMTPD="",NOP0FCHECK="1"
:allow,BADMIMETYPE="",BADLOADERTYPE="M",CHKUSER_RCPTLIMIT="50",CHKUSER_WRONGRCPTLIMIT="10",QMAILQUEUE="/var/qmail/bin/simscan",DKSIGN="/var/qmail/control/domainkeys/%/private",NOP0FCHECK="1"

the email goes 1 or 2 minutes if the emails come from
other mail server and the simscan and all other such
as clamav and spamassassin are scaaning well

but if i make the configuration like this

:allow,RELAYCLIENT="",DKSIGN="/var/qmail/control/domainkeys/%/private",RBLSMTPD="",NOP0FCHECK="1"
:allow,BADMIMETYPE="",BADLOADERTYPE="M",CHKUSER_RCPTLIMIT="50",CHKUSER_WRONGRCPTLIMIT="10",QMAILQUEUE="/var/qmail/bin/simscan",DKSIGN="/var/qmail/control/domainkeys/%/private",NOP0FCHECK="1"

the email goes 15 seconds if the emails come from
other mail server (world mail) and but the simscan and
all other such as clamav and spamassassin are not
scanning that email, just like email comes from our
own mail account.

by adding the line ":allow,RELAYCLIENT="" " it will make your
qmailtoaster assume that all incoming smtp connection from outside world
is a relayed client, so it'll trust them to sent to anywhere (your box
became openrelay)
and of course email from outside your domain will come quickly because
it wont be scanned by clamav/spamassasins (by default if simscan see
RELAYCLIENT var on tcp.smtp it wont scan incoming mails)

1-2 minutes is normal as Jake said.
take these variable for your concern:
how did you connect to internet? what speed? what interface you use?
What is your CPU ? is it Xeon Quad Core ?
how much is your Memory? 4GB DDR3 ?
what is your HD (IDE is slower than SCSI)
did you setup RAID for your HD ? if so what level? preferred is RAID 10
and so on, and so on..
did you use your qmailtoaster with other service? say hi-load of DNS
or hi-traffic website or tomcat/java application? or anything that
consume your CPU time and memory usage

that's what makes me stil has a something wrong with
my configuration.is that correct configutaion

anyway thanks for your intention Jake

Best Regards

Roy

Hi, guys

I 'm newbie with qmailtoaster.
I was installed qmailtoaster on centos 4.4 and it's was working properly.
But I have litle problem, freshclam can't update clamav.
I saw freshclam.log:
ERROR can't download daily.cvd from database.clamav.net
giving up on database.clamav.net...
Update failed. Your network maybe down or none of the mirrors listed in
freshclam.conf check...

can any body advise me how to fix it?

Do you maybe have a restrictive firewall blocking access to the download?

Actually i'm not so much familiar with qmail so if u will send some
example or link for this.

I'm very thankful to u.

Well, i cant actually provide you only this link:
http://www.imladris.sk/howto/howto_dual_mta.html

It describes how to setup amavis with qmail by using 2 qmail instance.
You could extrapolate the info to run a second qmail instance from it .

Remember any way that you must do this from scratch, eg: download
qmail source, patch them with taps patch,

and somethiling like that .

Hope this can help.

Or you can setup another qmailtoaster box as smtp-only server for your
users as I did
