RE: [qmailtoaster] DSpam

2007-11-15 Thread A.Mihalic
My 2 cents, yes hard for my level, i tried but failed to get all the bells
and whistles installen on a centos4 toaster, i could find no suitable
information for my toaster, plus simscan had me confused, i was doomed to
fail.
Then I decided to make dspam on a gateway in front of my beloved toaster
Loaded Debian and followed these howto's "piece of cake"
I did not follow all the steps in order, but rather gathered important
parts from all 3. After reading all three you will see some good ideas
that you want to incorp.
Started at:
http://www.howtoforge.com/virtual_users_and_domains_with_postfix_debian_etch
stopped at mysql and then followed the below howto making adjustments to
use mysql apache2 certs and up to squirrelmail, I only used what I wanted
on my setup.
http://www200.pair.com/mecham/spam/virtualp1.html
Then I used all of the next 2 howto's
http://www.howtoforge.com/etch_postfix_dspam_clamav
http://www.howtoforge.com/dspam_webui_debian_sid
I did use the etch unstable version mod auth mysq dpkg :(
Best if you build your own new mod here.
I think if you have an extra box and IP the gateway is pretty sweet,
messages that slip by the gate are greeted with the toasters spamassassin
i still see hard rejects once in a while.
Plus user to user mail is still scanned by the toasters clam or should be.

I am very very happy so far.
You have many ways to setup dspam, unpack the dspam tar ball and have a
look see
Good Luck

Re: [qmailtoaster] Qmailtoaster on Fedora 8

2007-11-15 Thread Erik A. Espinoza
Hi Bryan,

Yes and no.

The future of QmailToaster lies in a binary path with automatic
updates. I have been takig my time as I am merging and testing. In
order to do this, two things will happen.

1) The supported OS's are CentOS 3, 4 & 5 x86_64 and 32 bit only
2) The source distribution will be simpler in the rpm style, and
should compile more easily on any distribution

The bad side of #2 is that you will have to handle dependencies and
updates on your own. I will work with anyone to provide such things to
the community, but will not be doing the master list (IE wiki support
only).

Long story short, things will get better for most people, but some
will be negatively affected. It's all about getting the most bang for
the limited development time. I have no problems with third party
distro maintainers if someone wants to take on that role once we're
ready.

For now, the 1.3 branch stays locked down. No major changes are coming
on this branch. It will only have updates for the packages currenty
available.

I am still taking suggestions for 1.4. For example if someone has info
on Dovecot integration, I may include that. And I am pretty sure
SpamDyke makes the cut for 1.4.

Thanks,
Erik

I don't think it's too difficult - I was fishing a little. I'm going to
try and setup a devel machine this weekend and see if I can't shoe-horn

I believe qmailadmin is a c program. You would have to edit the source code
and recompile it.

[qmailtoaster] Problemas con spamassassin

2007-11-15 Thread ArcosCom Linux User

cat /etc/rulesdujour/config
TRUSTED_RULESETS="
SARE_ADULT
SARE_BAYES_POISON_NXM
SARE_BML
SARE_FRAUD
SARE_HEADER

SA_DIR="/etc/mail/spamassassin"
MAIL_ADDRESS="mipedazodeemail"
SA_RESTART="qmail-spam restart"
SA_LINT="spamassassin -lint"

Bien, ejecutando (como root):
/etc/cron.daily/rules_du_jour

Veo que se me queda parado mucho tiempo haciendo el "lint", lo interrumpo
y ejecuto lo siguiente:

# spamassassin -lint --progress -D
[27755] warn: The -l option has been deprecated and is no longer
supported, ignoring.

Y aquí se queda el asunto. Parece que se queda bloqueado en algún punto la
ejecución del lint.

Lo demás parece que todo funciona correctamente, el pop, imap, etc... pero
el spam no parece que funcione y no sé si es debido a este problema o es
otro.

¿Alguien puede ayudarme con el tema?

My recommendation would be, don't. Upgrade to CentOS 5. It has a
longer life and will remain supported.

The QmailToaster is primarily developed and tested on that.

I have a script around here somewhere to remove email accounts that are

As for rejecting if not a valid user - you would have to query the mysql
table like chkuser does to determine this. Might want to dig in it's
code to see how it makes the call exactly to save some time. Otherwise I
think you'd be stuck checking for a real directory for the user and
building a DB (maybe even using cdb from the Qmail package) to query
against to save on the wear and tear on the drive. Seems more trouble
than it's worth though, versus just querying the DB.

My 2-cents.

You could start your studies by analyzing this patch:
http://qmail.jms1.net/patches/validrcptto.cdb.shtml

More generally i think it's not a job of spamdyke to understand HOW
create the valid address list, it's job is only to consult a list and
deny or allow accordingly.
For example in the link i provide to you there is a script which
generates a list of email by simply grepping stuff on vpopmail dirs .
Once spamdyke has determined if an address is not valid, it must return
an smtp error code to the connecting client, telling him something like
"no such user here" or something like that .

I think you could create the list as a dir structure like the ones for
greylist of blacklist .

An ascii file is not so fast for a large userbase .

This is my 2 cents

Have fun,
Davide

If you are hitting your database connection limits, a certain percent of
authentication sessions would fail.

If memory serves, I believe there are two database connections per
authentication. You may want to verify that you have MySQL set to
handle more than the standard 100 connections.

That's my two cents.

Re: [qmailtoaster] connection timeouts

2007-11-15 Thread Sam Clippinger
Are the timeouts being logged by spamdyke? If so, spamdyke is forcibly
disconnecting the remote server/client; increasing the spamdyke timeouts
may solve the problem. Some servers/clients take a long time to prepare
a message with large attachments and can time out (I don't understand
why they don't do this work before they open the SMTP connection).

If spamdyke is not logging the timeout, something else is causing the
disconnection. spamdyke may be able to assist your troubleshooting if
you can turn on full logging and see what's happening before the
disconnection takes place.

[qmailtoaster] Host name shows up from webmail

2007-11-15 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Yesterday, I was working on finding the DK problem. Something changed but I
can't find what it was and now webmail messages are going out from the
hostname and not the domain name it was sent from.

Anyone know what might be causing this and the fix?

Mike

[qmailtoaster] DSpam

2007-11-15 Thread Jake Vickers
Anyone still using DSpam out there? If so, are you happy with it? I
like the fact that the users can just forward a message to the spam
address and it will learn from it - most of my users call me telling me
the computer is broken and doesn't work when a web page is offline, so
the easier the better.
Feel free to email me off list if you feel that your comments may not be
beneficial to others.

Thanks.

I for one would like to know how this is working as well.

I would love to be able to have users forward spam messages.

[qmailtoaster] COnsulta sobre QmailAdmin

2007-11-15 Thread Ariel
Lista

asi

Direccion de correo - nombre de la persona

If I understand you correctly, and you can understand me correctly...

This is probably not all that difficult of a fix. You just want to have the
MYSQL call sort by the pw_gecos field instead of the pw_name field.

Good Luck!

Si parece bien.

Que tipo de Disco Duros son IDE, SATA, SCSI? Eso seria lo mas importante.
