Re: [qmailtoaster] Updated SpamAssassin, ClamAV, SquirrelMail Packages
Hi Erik, I have not seen a response to my error about sqmail, where when I try to send an outbound email, it says Error: Server said but it's blank. Well I was hoping that this update of sqmail 1.4.15 was the fix. So I edited the cnt5064-install.sh script and commented out the original line and put the exact file name in there. I did this so it wouldn't bother with the older version. After installing it by itself (none of the other install script items were reinstalled-but were previously, and are still running), I went into sqmail, it logged me in again just fine. I tried to send 2 outbound emails, one to myself and one to yahoo, and both times I got the blank Error again. I am running CentOS 5, x86_64. A pretty basic install and nothing installed on it except for what the qmailtoaster instructions say. If you would like to see the error yourself, I can set that up. Just let me know. Hi James the problem is with perl modules all my centos 5.2 x64 are up2date but I do also update all perl modules through CPAN including makemaker :) and that's the issue now, older spam 3.2.4 was compiling, but not anymore with v1.9205 you can always build it manually. but for those who prefer the rpm way, it should be fixed -P James Palmer wrote: Cheers Anil. Philip, I also had my CentOS 5 box up to date via CPAN (or at least I thought I did) and SA 3.2.5 RPM wouldn't build. After 350Mb of yum updates the rpm then built and installed fine and is working perfectly! What you need to do is import the key for yum to update that package that way. I forgot to mention, one issue that I have with clam is when I perform an upgrade, I normally have issues with the virus database. I have had to delete the folder /usr/share/clamav/ before installing the newer version. Otherwise I have seen many errors in my log file found at /var/log/clamav. The question is ¿Need I any DNS considerations about these subdomains? and/or ¿Need I any toaster machine considerations too? The problem I encounter is when these machines (in the same LAN) uses another gateway to connect to internet, that is the reason for this question. Hi, In this deal, as you need to send emails from each server in your intranet server.lan_domain to other email server in the internet, you will need to have a real domain, and create a subdomain with the name of each server you have. if you need to receive reply from internet to an email box for each subdomain, you have to create each subdomain.real_domain.com in the qmail server. as you have [EMAIL PROTECTED] you can add the email header REPLY-TO: [EMAIL PROTECTED] so you can receive replyes. or you can add REPLY-TO: [EMAIL PROTECTED], so you need to create one domain only in your qmail server, and one email box for each server. another thing is if your send your emails with [EMAIL PROTECTED] when another server receives it, it will check the domain exists, the MX and SPF records, and all other things to try determine if the sender have a valid domain. So I recommend you to use [EMAIL PROTECTED] for all your sends (or [EMAIL PROTECTED]). I hope this help you.
