i use it to filter messages from mailing lists to their own folders.
its a pain when using different mua's and have to define filters for
each of them.

I'd like to have server functionality in this area as well. A web app to
maintain user filters would be sweet. ;)

For the case of mailing lists, I've opted to use http://gmane.org for
accessing mailing lists. It allows you to easily access a ton of mailing
lists using a newsgroup browser (I simply us Thunderbird, so it's not very
different at all). Advantages:
.) subscribing to a list via gmane is trivial.
.) no need to set up any kind of filter at all for mail lists
.) historical posts are instantly available and easily searchable
.) no need to maintain person list history (for us pack rats)
.) qmail-toaster list is there, and will soon have several years worth of
archives (thanks to Jake). I've submitted them to Lars and they should be
online soon.

I encourage anyone who uses mailing lists to check it out!

Re: [qmailtoaster] Change Passwd

2008-09-05 Thread dnk
One thing that could simplify this... if you are developing the other
script anyways, you could use some kind of imap library for your
language. For example, I had another custom system where I wanted to
share my email user base... I simply authenticated via imap (in my
case through php). Saved from having to really tie any dependencies in
direct to the email system. And then you also don't need ot have local
access to the mysql database if your app is sitting elsewhere or on
another network.

Just a thought.

Also not sure of what you need, but this would be very nice to integrate on

So that users could change their password from there…

The UpdateSaneSecurity Hourly message seems to have corrected itself.

But now I am getting the following message every hour:

/etc/cron.hourly/UpdateSaneSecurity.sh:

The correct database path or there is something wrong with your
ClamAV installation. This path came from your /usr/bin/clamscan so I would guess
you need to check your clamd.conf file! and/or /usr/share/clamav

*

I did check the /usr/share/clamav directory and daily.inc is missing, but there
is a daily.cld file in that directory.

I looked at my /etc/clamd.conf file and the lines specifying the database
directory are as follows:

# Path to the database directory.
# Default: hardcoded (depends on installation options)
#DatabaseDirectory /var/lib/clamav

Should I add a line specifying the database directory to be /usr/share/clamav ?
Since there is a line there that claims the default to be hardcoded I did not
know if the toaster has that hardcoded somewhere.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Just a quick note on how I installed this.

1. yum --enablerepo=rpmforge install perl-Archive-Tar
if for some reason it tries all the repos and errors out with bad

/yum clean up
yum check-update

2. yum --enablerepo=rpmforge install perl-LWP-UserAgent-Determined
This will install the last two dependencies, resolving this error:

If you've installed the latest qmailtoaster-plus package, you can simply:

Otherwise, check the list archives for the hard way. ;)
