Re: [qmailtoaster] Need help to close relay

Hi Wiliarto,

Your tcp.smtp file is missing a line similar to this one:
:allow,BADMIMETYPE="",BADLOADERTYPE="M",CHKUSER_RCPTLIMIT="50",CHKUSER_WRONGRCPTLIMIT="10",QMAILQUEUE="/var/qmail/bin/simscan",DKSIGN="/var/qmail/control/domainkeys/%/private",NOP0FCHECK="1"

Hope this closes your relay

Andreas

Asunto: [qmailtoaster] qtp upate centos 5.2 to 5.3

Hi everybody,

We have a working qtp

When we fresh install centos, it was version 5.2.

But updating the OS, it becomes version 5.3

Now we are trying to update qtp and we get this message when compiling:

package: qmailadmin-1.2.11

Errno architecture (i386-linux-thread-multi-2.6.18-53.1.14.el5pae) does not
match executable architecture (i386-linux-thread-multi-2.6.18-53.el5) at
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/Errno.pm line 11.

Have any ideas?

thank you very much for your time

Can you point me as to which specific configuration will actually track

by the way i found a spamassassin plugin that blocks emails where the

9 times out of 10 those messages will be blocked by RBL or a reverse DNS
check, which spamdyke will perform for you.
Thanks for finding the spamassassin plugin. Now someone just needs to
add it to the wiki.
I couldn't use it for any of my clients however. They like to use
different reply-to addresses. I even do the same myself when I have
multiple domains on the same server.

Thanks.

[qmailtoaster] Informations about relation between Qmail and Exchange server

2009-04-28 Thread romain meunier

Hi,

First of all, sorry for my english, I'm french and I'm not the best on
this subject.

I do research on security in the mail. In my studies I must set up a
model with an exchange server and a server which will do
anti-spamm/anti-virus and which will be in a dmz.
I decided to use qmail, but I would like to know how do you tell the
qmail server to scan incoming e-mail and send to the Exchange server?
How do you say to the Exchange server to send outgoing e-mails to qmail
server?
Sorry for my stupid questions but I am far from an expert and I'd like
to know everything before setting up this project.

If someone have links on this subjects I will be glad to have them!

Thanks for your help,

Romain.

They have to have an account to authenticate. I don't understand what

Welcome!
The first is easy, the second can be done one of a couple different ways
so it can be confusing.
To have the QMT machine scan mail all you need to do is add the domain
you want it to scan in the rcpthosts file, and then add where you want
it to go in the smtproutes file. I think there's a write-up in the wiki
on this (wiki.qmailtoaster.com). You could also set the QMT server to be
the domain mailer (mail.domain.com) and the Exchange server to be a sub
domain (sub.domain.com). In the QMT machine you would set up all the
accounts you have on the Exchange server and then create forwards for
each user to their address at the Exchange server (ie: u...@domain.com
also forwards to u...@sub.domain.com). This would allow them to have
their mail on both mail servers and allow them to use webmail on the QMT
machine. There's a couple different ways to set this scenario up as well.
The second question you asked would probably most easily be accomplished
by adding the IP address for your Exchange server in your tcp.smtp file
and turning on relaying there. That will allow your Exchange server to
send any emails through it, regardless of domain name/extension.
You could secure it a little more and make the Exchange server
authenticate, in which case you'd need to create an account on the QMT
machine and have the Exchange server use it for sending email (all email
would leave using that one account - changing the reply-to for each user).

A lot of this depends on how you set your physical network up as well.

You add where you want the mail to be relayed to either by domain name
or IP address in the smtproutes file. Syntax for this is available on
the wiki (http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/Smtproutes).

There is a write-up on the wiki to do the first part of what you're asking:
http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/Scanning_External_non_locally_hosted_domains

Yes, you turn on relaying in the tcp.smtp file.
There is documentation on the wiki:

or IP address in the smtproutes file. Syntax for this is available on
the wiki (http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/Smtproutes).
There is a write-up on the wiki to do the first part of what you're
asking:
http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/Scanning_External_non_locally_hosted_domains

Yes, you turn on relaying in the tcp.smtp file.
There is documentation on the wiki:
http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/Tcp.smtp

You would only create an MX record for the QMT server since you (from
what I understand) do not want any mail being delivered to it and it
will relay all mail through the QMT machine. That's why you need to
define the Exchange server in the smtproutes file - the QMT machine has
no way to lookup where to deliver the message since it will be the MX
record.

[qmailtoaster] Secondary MX, mails are stuck in remote queue

2009-04-28 Thread Andreas Kaiser

Hi all!

I've recently changed one of the domains on my qmail server from a
virtual domain (using vpopmail) to a secondary mx.

This domain is now listed in:

rcpthosts:domain.tld
smtproutes:domain.tld:mail.domain.tld

The DNS MX records are:

domain.tld. 2554 IN MX 10 mail.domain.tld.
domain.tld. 2554 IN MX 50 my.qmail.tld.

A records fpr both exist and are correct.

However, I still find a lot of line like this in my log:

@400049f7015b397338d4 delivery 67: deferral: Unable_to_switch_to_/
home/vpopmail/domains/domain.tld:_file_does_not_exist._(#4.3.0)/

Any pointers?

Andreas

Re: [qmailtoaster] spam blocking questions

Have you received this type of spam since installing spamdyke? If so,
please post the headers from an example.

Have you modified the spamdyke configuration that qtp-install-spamdyke
installed?

If not, you might try enabling reject-ip-in-cc-rdns if that's feasible
for your use. See spamdyke documentation (http://spamdyke.org) for details.

If so, please post your spamdyke configuration.

Can you point me as to which specific configuration will actually track

by the way i found a spamassassin plugin that blocks emails where the

Simply run the qtp-install-spamdyke script, and spamdyke will be
installed for you. Be sure to update to the current QTP before doing so,
as an older version of QTP might install an older version of spamdyke,
or the older QTP might not contain the qtp-install-spamdyke script at
all. See http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/Spamdyke for more.

There is absolutely no harm in updating QTP. It is benign in and of
itself. It's only when you run some of the QTP tools that your QMT
configuration might change.

I hope that answers your question.

is there is method for this ?

As Jake explained, no. Spamassassin won't catch this type of spam.

Use spamdyke. There is a script in qmailtoaster-plus
(http://qtp.qmailtoaster.com) that will install it for you. It will
lighten the load on your server as well.

rajesh

FWIW, I have a user who does this periodically to save various
things,
so for me it's not spam.

Are you using spamdyke? I'd be surprised if spamdyke didn't catch the
emails in question.

[qmailtoaster] CentQMT5-1.2.0 released

2009-04-28 Thread Jake Vickers
For those that have paid for the download, CentQMT5 version 1.2.0 is out
and should be available in the Other packages in your account.

For those that have not paid for a download, it is available here:
http://www.vcghosting.com/cart.php?ca=add_other&oid=4

If you do not know what the ISO is, read here:
http://qmtiso.com

The new version features all new updated CentOS packages bringing you up
to current as well as a few bug fixes such as the firewall not loading
during boot time.
I was also paid to add Fedora 9 x86_64 support to QMT which I can
contractually release in 2 weeks. The new packages are included in the
CentQMT5 download, so you get them 2 weeks before everyone else.
The new packages include an upgrade from simscan 1.3.1 to Simscan 1.4.0,
and I've also added the eMPF patch to the default installation. It is
not configured to apply any policies by default so you can ignore it if
you do not want to use it.

Thanks for your support!

I'd update the base OS first. That'll pick up any QTP changes as well,
provided you're using the yum repo.

backup, then scp the tar file to my backup server, then run a cron
job to do the restore . Always having a replacement server ready.

However I continually run into the problem asking for the mysql
password.
Any programmers out there who can tell me where to modify the restore
script please.

Thanks

Re: [qmailtoaster] Secondary MX, mails are stuck in remote queue

Yes, you're right.

Andreas Kaiser wrote:
I've recently changed one of the domains on my qmail server from a
virtual domain (using vpopmail) to a secondary mx.

This domain is now listed in:
   rcpthosts:domain.tld
   smtproutes:domain.tld:mail.domain.tld
The DNS MX records are:
   domain.tld. 2554 IN MX 10 mail.domain.tld.
   domain.tld. 2554 IN MX 50 my.qmail.tld.
A records fpr both exist and are correct.
However, I still find a lot of line like this in my log:
@400049f7015b397338d4 delivery 67: deferral:
Unable_to_switch_to_/home/vpopmail/domains/
domain.tld:_file_does_not_exist._(#4.3.0)/

So I changed smtproutes to

domain.tld:domain.tld

Now I find these lines in my logs:

/var/log/qmail/send/current:@400049f758ad0fa50b04 starting
delivery 19011: msg 3379245 to remote 45269a22.6020...@domain.tld
/var/log/qmail/send/current:@400049f75b060f06179c delivery 19011:
deferral:
User_and_password_not_set,_continuing_without_authentication./<45269a22.6020...@domain.tld
>_1.2.3.4_failed_after_I_sent_the_message./
Remote_host_said:_451_4.7.0_Timeout_waiting_for_client_input/

The mails are still not delivered to the primary MX. Those sent
directly to the primary MX (i.e. not via the secondary, which is a
qmail-toaster) do reach their destination mailboxes.

The primary MX is an MS Exchange 2007.

What do I miss?

Thanks again,

Andreas

[qmailtoaster] Auto backup and restore

2009-04-28 Thread madmac

*Backup your qmailtoster server to an other server.*
Through necessity, I have created a Backup server ( server2 ) to act as
a copy of my main qmailserver ( server1 ) and automated the process.

*Note this is not the only method , and I give no guarantees it will
work for you.*
I installed two server identically using QMT.iso Centos 5, from our
great friend Jake Vickers.

*Login to server 1 (your IP address ) 192.168.1.100*
cd /root
Create the Key file
ssh-keygen -t dsa ( this will be called id_dsa_pub ) in the /root/.ssh/
folder

Check the file exists
cd .ssh/
ls

Copy file to Server 2 ( your IP address ) 192.168.1.101
scp id_dsa.pub r...@192.168.1.101:/root/.ssh/
enter root password on server 2
*
SSH to server 2*
ssh r...@192.168.1.101
enter root password again

Check the file came across
cd /root/.ssh
ls

Add the key to the authorized_keys files
cat id_dsa.pub >> /root/.ssh/authorized_keys

Your server 2 is now setup to allow root to login from server1.
Exit and login again, it should not ask for a password if all went well.

ssh r...@192.168.1.101
exit, back to server 1.
*
Your back up should be in the /backup/*
Called something like 200904280102-backup.tar.gz ( year, month, date,
time-backup.tar.gz )

Depending on your system, it can take hours. So I created a script, to
backup then SCP the backup to server 2

*Here is mine: /root/backup.sh*

#!/bin/sh
# run backup command
/usr/sbin/qtp-backup
#
# Copy file to server 2 using SCP to the /root folder
cd /backup
scp -backup.tar.gz r...@192.168.1.101:/root/
exit

*save the file , and make it executable:*
chmod +x backup.sh
*
On server 1 make a cron job to run the backup (mine is at 02:00 )*
crontab -e
*2 * * * /root/backup.sh

The scrip will copy -backup.tar.gz, to server2

*Thanks to Erik Schubert, modify the qtp-restore script.*
Change:
read -p "Please enter your MySQL Root password: " mysqlrootpass

to
read -p "Please enter your MySQL Root password: " mysqlrootpass
mysqlrootpass=your_password
*
Save it ..

create a cron job for the restore : i run mine at 04:00*
crontab -e
* 4 * * * /usr/sbin/qtp-restore

*Login to server2 and double check everything restored, you may have to
reboot , not sure yet.*
If your main qmail server goes down, just log into server 2 and change
the IP address to that of server 1. ( 192.168.1.100 )

Hope this helps someone, as it was to late for me.
All my tests worked, this is a true working environment, not a Lab test.

Any errors found please let me know, but as i said , it works for me.
MadMac

Thanks for posting to the list, Madmac.
Do you think you might find time to post it to the wiki? It's really
pretty easy.

I think that you should have
domain.tld:exchangehost.domain.tld
in your smtproutes, where "exchangehost.domain.tld" corresponds to the
DNS A record of your exchange server.

That's not intuitively obvious, but painfully trivial. ;)

The easy way is to add a link to the page you'll link from. I'm guessing
that it'll be the
http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/User_Tips_%26_Tricks page. When
you've added the link, it will be red (meaning that it's missing). When
you click on the red link it'll take you to edit the new page.

Alternatively, if you enter a page name that doesn't exist, it'll take
you to edit it that way as well. You might forget to add a link for it
though when you do it this way. I always add the link first.
