No, not really.
You can leave the email addresses in your log files. We're all 
professional admins here, and really have no use for gathering emails. 
Really. When messages are archived for searching, addresses are removed 
anyway.

If you really feel the need to obscure the addresses, use things like:

b...@example.com
f...@example.com
us...@example.com
us...@example.com

And if you really must change IP addresses (which makes it impossible 
for those of us on the list the telnet to your machine to test your 
system out) then just change an octet or two to something above 254. 
We'll understand what you mean.



The bottom line is that by changing some of the information in your log 
files, we cannot be sure a critical piece of information is not being 
changed and have to make assumptions based upon the data you're 
supplying. This can cause wrong answers (which are really just guesses 
once you change critical data).


And you're not showing us enough of your logfiles anyway. You may think 
nothing else is relevant, but seeing at least 20 lines of a transaction 
can be of immeasurable help.

Maloupi,

As Jake said, the addresses are obfuscated in the archive. The domain names and 
IP addresses may be needed to solve your problem.

As you can see from the mail archive of Jakes message, no one can harvest 
addresses off it.

[qmailtoaster] Spamdyke rdns question

Dear list, I am getting trouble receiving mail from a specific mailserver. 
Following the spamdyke log

Oct 19 15:37:03 ariel spamdyke[6701]: DENIED_RDNS_RESOLVE from: 
x...@inmedico.com to: y...@sylcomed.com origin_ip: 193.88.99.136 origin_rdns: 
mail.tdchweb.dk auth: (unknown)

Now I fixed the problem with:

rdns-whitelist-entry=193.88.99.136

in /etc/spamdyke.conf.

My question is: if 193.88.99.136 correctly resolve in mail.tdchweb.dk why 
spamdyke is dropping the incoming mail ?

Can someone explain me ?
