[qmailtoaster] qtp-newmodel fails on FUSE
Hi, I've been using qmailtoaster for quite some time and everything's been running smoothly in the past few months. [qmailtoaster] initializing bayes_db
Just installed qmailToaster with -plus and Spamdyke on a 32-bit CentOS 5.3 machine. Where is the default location for the bayes db? I've looked in /root/.spamassassin and /home/vpopmail/.spamassassin, there's nothing there. Do I need to do something to initialize the bayes db? This machine will be used as a filter in front of an Exchange server, so there's currently no local user accounts. Re: [qmailtoaster] Re: initializing bayes_db

I've looked in /root/.spamassassin and /home/vpopmail/.spamassassin, there's nothing there. Do I need to do something to initialize the bayes db? This machine will be used as a filter in front of an Exchange server, so there's currently no local user accounts. Brent Gardner The bayes database is created automatically as it's used, in /home/vpopmail/.spamassassin/. Thanks, Eric. Of course, I mostly found the answer to my question after I posted it. I found a posting in the email archive that suggested that running sa-learn --sync would cause the database files to be created. So I ran 'sudo -u vpopmail -H sa-learn --sync' and voila- there's my database files. Now, another question: If I relocate the database using bayes_path in /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf will it mess up any QmailToaster Plus scripts, such as qtp-newmodel or qtp-backup? qtp-backup will not be able to archive the file if you move it's location unless you edit the script to add it to the archival process. You'll need to edit it around line 157 to adjust this. qtp-newmodel does not backup these files. - Qmailtoaster is sponsored by Vickers Consulting Group (www.vickersconsulting.com) Vickers Consulting Group offers Qmailtoaster support and installations. Re: [qmailtoaster] Re: qtp-newmodel fails on FUSE
The grub commands I posted earlier should fix up a broken MBR, but that's risky to do on a production server. Yeah, my feelings exactly and if it's working for the time being I'm not arguing. Sounds like replacement is a wise choice. I've really no idea how it came to be in the state it's in. Probably a short between the KB and chair at some point. ;) I don't think there is any doubt about this. I have 2 other systems with fresh installs and all the updates OS, Toaster, Webmin worked flawlessly including the qtp-newmodel for updating the toaster. I'm glad to hear you're having some success! One is production other is test/toy. I installed all of my goodies and for the fun of it turned it into a desktop. I installed KDE. It's working like a charm. I would never use this as a production setup, but for testing and even local mail it's pretty cool. Thanks for all the hard work you guys do. The ISO is a dream come true. Between the ISO and the qtp-menu I can have a Qmail LAMP running and completely updated with several utilities (Webmin, Fail2ban, OSSEC, ProFTPd) I use in about an hour and a half. autofs is on. But I don't see what impact that would have on the kernel issue ? Ben King wrote: Is /etc/init.d/autofs off? Re: [qmailtoaster] qmailtoaster-plus-0.3.1-1.4.14 released
Eric Shubert wrote: I'm happy to announce the next release of qmailtoaster-plus! This is a fairly major release. First and foremost, the qmailtoaster-plus.repo package has been expanded. It now includes repositories for each distro/version to provide the FUSE packages required by the updated qtp-newmodel. While it is usually a good idea to run # yum update before running qtp-newmodel, you *must* minimally run # yum update qmailtoaster-plus.repo before running the new qtp-newmodel with a unionfs sandbox. If you don't do this update, you'll see: Error getting repository data for qtp-CentOS, repository not found qtp-mount-sandbox - installation of dependent packages failed qtp-mount-sandbox - is your qmailtoaster-plus.repo package up to date? Secondly, the unionfs sandbox used by qtp-newmodel has been totally revamped. It now runs with FUSE (Filesystem in USErspace), so it doesn't need to be rebuilt whenever the kernel is updated. This is compatible now with newer kernels (Fedora 10,11), and has been implemented in older kernels (2.6.9+) with the help of the dkms and dkms-fuse packages. All of the details are handled automatically by the qtp-mount-sandbox script, which is invoked by qtp-newmodel (and can be run from the CLI FWIW). If you're running CentOS, be sure to be patient when dkms-fuse is installing. It takes a bit of time because it builds a kernel module during the post install process. The unionfs sandbox has not been tested on Suse or Mandriva. I expect there will be a few things that need to be done to get it working, but it shouldn't be difficult, as the pieces are all in place. If one of you who is running Suse or Mandriva would like to test this functionality, please contact me. The other fairly big change is that the qtp-extraclam script has been replaced with a new qtp-install-sanesecurity script. This script downloads and installs the current version of the script which maintains the extra clamav databases. When a new version becomes available, you can simply rerun qtp-install-sanesecurity to get the latest version. There are other minor enhancements as well. qtp-newmodel now lets you select packages for re-install, and it also displays the last 10 lines of the log file if/when there's a build error. See the release notes for any other little things I may have missed in this announcement. As always, please post to the list with any questions or comments. NJoy! I meant to mention that the FUSE unionfs hasn't been tested on x86_64. I'm really sorry to have omitted that. I hope we can get this working on x86_64 hosts in short order. -- -Eric 'shubes' - Qmailtoaster is sponsored by Vickers Consulting Group (www.vickersconsulting.com) Vickers Consulting Group offers Qmailtoaster support and installations.
