 I don't think so, at least not that I'm aware of.

 I think you'll have to simply not use the RBLs (and whatever other
 spamdyke filters you deem risky) until you can get your whitelist put
 together, and live with the spam. I hope that your server can handle all
 of the scanning spamassassin will be doing with the absence of
 spamdyke's filtering. It will definitely be under a larger load without
 the spamdyke filtering.

 Note, if you decide to turn off spamdyke entirely, you'll need to
 maintain any RBLs you choose (not) to use by editing the
 /var/qmail/control/blacklists file.

[qmailtoaster] Re: Named (Bind) Generating Network Unreachable Logs

2009-12-10 Thread Eric Shubert

Because that's why you're getting these messages.

Aleksander posted a problem with bind and COS5.4 a while back. Adding
OPTIONS=-4
to the end of your /etc/sysconfig/named file, and doing
# service named restart
fixes the problem.

There are also some lame-server messages from bind that can be annoying,
as they get picked up by logwatch. To get rid of them, modify your
named.caching-nameserver.conf file as such in the logging section:

logging {
channel default_debug {
file data/named.run;
severity dynamic;
};
category lame-servers { null; };
};

Merry Christmas! :)

What is your present configuration? Are you still running spamdyke? If
so, what's in your spamdyke.conf file?

Have you implemented a whitelist with all of your vendors?

What do you consider to be false positives?

You might need to adjust the spamassassin thresholds to suite your
environment. Look at the scores of the false positives. If they're
slightly above the required_score in your local.cf file, you can adjust
that setting appropriately.

Also, look to see which rules are contributing to your false positives.
Some rules may be inappropriate in your environment, causing some emails
to score too high.

Adjusting a server to handle spam well is something that takes some
doing, but it isn't all that difficult. Once you have things set up for
your environment, things will run smoothly with most spam being caught,
and very few false positives.

[qmailtoaster] question concerning qmail queue

2009-12-10 Thread Rajesh M
hi all

recently we had a spam attack due to a compromised user. we are planning
on a script to prevent this by having an automatic tool to monitor the
qmail queue.

if the number of emails in the queue exceeds say 100 then open every email
in the queue, track the ips and if any one is repeated more than 50 times
block the ip address in iptables

my questions

Question no 1
will opening and reading the qmail queue cause any kind of corruption of
the queue ?

Question no 2
is there a better way to control such spammers by having a limit on the
number of emails per day or per hour thru one specific smtp authenticated
user id and password ?

any ideas on this would be very helpful

thanks
rajesh

[qmailtoaster] How to build MYSQL support into QMailAdmin

2009-12-10 Thread Darrell Booth

Hi

I believe I have successfully built mysql support into ezmlm-toaster but
now I need to do the same for qmailadmin-toaster.

When I run the following command to rebuild:

rpmbuild --rebuild qmailadmin-toaster-1.2.12-1.3.8.src.rpm

the ./configure record shows as:

+ ./configure --prefix=/usr --datadir=/usr/share/qmailadmin
--enable-htmllibdir=/usr/share/qmailadmin
--enable-htmldir=/usr/share/qmailadmin
--enable-cgibindir=/usr/share/qmailadmin
--enable-imageurl=/qmailadmin/images
--enable-imagedir=/usr/share/qmailadmin/images

--enable-maxusersperpage=12 --enable-maxaliasesperpage=12
--enable-modify-quota=y --enable-ezmlm-mysql=n --enable-help=y
--enable-domain-autofill=n

The mysql support is being disabled by the --enable-ezmlm-mysql=n setting.

I have tried to run the rpmbuild with the following:
[r...@mailserver tmp]# rpmbuild --rebuild --enable-ezmlm-mysql=yes
qmailadmin-toaster-1.2.12-1.3.8.src.rpm
--enable-ezmlm-mysql=yes: unknown option
[r...@mailserver tmp]# rpmbuild --rebuild --enable-ezmlm-mysql

--enable-ezmlm-mysql: unknown option
[r...@mailserver tmp]# rpmbuild --rebuild --enable-ezmlm-mysql=y
qmailadmin-toaster-1.2.12-1.3.8.src.rpm

--enable-ezmlm-mysql=y: unknown option

Can anyone tell me how to change the ./configure so that the rpmbuild

Thanks

I think you need to install the source rpm, edit the *.spec file, then
run rpmbuild against the *.spec file.

[qmailtoaster] Restoring to a Qmail Toaster

2009-12-10 Thread IT-Medic
 We have a qmail server that was installed a few years ago on centos 4.1. It
appears the installation was done from source code. We are wanting to move
the server to a new installation using the qmail toaster.
I have new installation version 5.0 from the iso. I have tested it with a
test domain and works well. I have reviewed the replication videos to get a
handle on exporting the vpopmail database and importing it.

One of the other administrators did a mysqldump and I have a vpopmail.sql
file approx 620kb in size.

I logged into the mail server and these are the commands I used:

root#mysqladmin drop vpopmail  -u root -p
worked ok
root#mysqladmin create vpopmail -u root -p
worked ok
root#mysql -u root -p

mysqluse vpopmail;
mysqlshow master status;
Empty set (0.00)
mysql quit;
root#mysql -u root -p vpopmail  vpopmail.sql
ran ok no errors but when I checked database still empty.

Can you help me

 One of the other administrators did a mysqldump and I have
 a vpopmail.sql
 file approx 620kb in size.

 I logged into the mail server and these are the commands I
 used:

 root#mysqladmin drop vpopmail  -u root -p
 worked ok
 root#mysqladmin create vpopmail -u root -p
 worked ok
 root#mysql -u root -p

 mysqluse vpopmail;
 mysqlshow master status;
 Empty set (0.00)
 mysql quit;
 root#mysql -u root -p vpopmail  vpopmail.sql
 ran ok no errors but when I checked database still empty.

 Can you help me

RE: [qmailtoaster] Restoring to a Qmail Toaster

I think your best bet for moving to the new server would be the backup
script included with the qmailtoaster-plus packages.

Subject: [qmailtoaster] Restoring to a Qmail Toaster

 We have a qmail server that was installed a few years ago on centos
4.1. It appears the installation was done from source code. We are
wanting to move the server to a new installation using the qmail
toaster.
I have new installation version 5.0 from the iso. I have tested it with
a test domain and works well. I have reviewed the replication videos to
get a handle on exporting the vpopmail database and importing it.

One of the other administrators did a mysqldump and I have a
vpopmail.sql file approx 620kb in size.

I logged into the mail server and these are the commands I used:

root#mysqladmin drop vpopmail  -u root -p worked ok root#mysqladmin
create vpopmail -u root -p worked ok root#mysql -u root -p

mysqluse vpopmail;
mysqlshow master status;
Empty set (0.00)
mysql quit;
root#mysql -u root -p vpopmail vpopmail.sql ran ok no errors but when
I checked database still empty.

Can you help me

Re: [qmailtoaster] question concerning qmail queue

2009-12-10 Thread Andreas Galatis
Hi Rajesh,

have a look at the iptables- module recent. It logs connections on the desired
ports, counting new connections in a table and, when a threshold is reached,
blocks the concerned ip.

Consider running a script that looks at the blocked ips to resolve the problem
on the infected PC.

 hi all

 recently we had a spam attack due to a compromised user. we are planning
 on a script to prevent this by having an automatic tool to monitor the
 qmail queue.

 if the number of emails in the queue exceeds say 100 then open every email
 in the queue, track the ips and if any one is repeated more than 50 times
 block the ip address in iptables

 my questions

 Question no 1
 will opening and reading the qmail queue cause any kind of corruption of
 the queue ?

 Question no 2
 is there a better way to control such spammers by having a limit on the
 number of emails per day or per hour thru one specific smtp authenticated
 user id and password ?

 any ideas on this would be very helpful

 thanks
 rajesh
