The files will be in the mailstore:
/home/vpopmail/domains/your-domain.com/list_address/subscribers
They're in a "binary" format, but you can read them with a text editor
if you are unable to just copy them to the new machine after recreating
the mailing list.

I found a script on a VMWare community site that is a champ! It makes a
snapshot and does a backup then removes the snapshot, so you see no downtime
unless you want it to. Here is the link:

I use a clone VM, then daily I shutdown the clone do an export.
If you use Vsphere4, and all the gimmicks, your can do " Live backup " IE
back up a Running VM. but it gets costly.

I just use ESXi, as I sais above, I have a clone VM( using Jakes replication
Videos ) then I shutdown clone, do the export to my NAS, .

you can also just use the built in qmail-backup, scp that to your NAS etc.

 One of the setups I was working on was Xen, but there is one running
 ESX. They have 500 users, all using IMAP, and some users experience
 8-10
 minute lags in accessing their imap stores (or webmail).
 IMAP processes have been increased, and the softlimit has also been
 increased.
 I do agree we could use some testing tools (this should be on the
 devel
 list, and can easily be added to the "tools" section of the subversion
 repo).
 I used to have a script around here somewhere that dumped 10K emails
 to
 load test, but haven't used it in a long time and would have to really
 dig to find it.
 I just wonder if the imap load isn't hitting a limitation in the
 VMware
 storage structure. The system has enough horse power and lots of RAM.
 'sar' shows the cpu is not working very hard. When running a 'du -sh
 *'
 on the /home/vpopmail/domains takes as long as 7 minutes on a couple
 domains, which is what points me towards a VMware filesystem
 suspicion,
 since that "test" is not even using imap but straight file access.

[qmailtoaster] DKIM / DNS Question

2010-02-15 Thread Scott Hughes
I am having some issues getting DKIM to work properly and I suspect that my
DNS (bind) may be the cause. I have two DNS servers and here are the two
records is question (I am also putting in the two DomainKeys lines as well):

NS1 (total of 3 lines):

_domainkey  IN  TXT "o=-"
private._domainkey  IN  TXT "k=rsa;
p=MEwwDQYJKoZIhvcNAQEBBQADOwAwOAIxAM+53oTiFynv3SgIagdTrk6YfT4V4FMoLTvWeM6xOAmJCBP+qwHFVegq61nNS9Q9mQIDAQAB"
dkim1._domainkey.renshawauto.net. IN  TXT "v=DKIM1; k=rsa; t=y;
p=MEwwDQYJKoZIhvcNAQEBBQADOwAwOAIxAN300mDSGSlgqxf3Dtw12ThU7vLCo7QPzlXpVWcU3Zxhsgeri5iOjC8QZgW7DMHgdQIDAQAB"

NS2 (total of 4 lines):

$ORIGIN renshawauto.net.
_domainkey  TXT "o=-"
$ORIGIN _domainkey.renshawauto.net.
dkim1   TXT "v=DKIM1\; k=rsa\; t=y\;
p=MEwwDQYJKoZIhvcNAQEBBQADOwAwOAIxAN300mDSGSlgqxf3Dtw12ThU7vLCo7QPzlXpVWcU3Zxhsgeri5iOjC8QZgW7DMHgdQIDAQAB"
private TXT "k=rsa\;
p=MEwwDQYJKoZIhvcNAQEBBQADOwAwOAIxAM+53oTiFynv3SgIagdTrk6YfT4V4FMoLTvWeM6xOAmJCBP+qwHFVegq61nNS9Q9mQIDAQAB"

Also, I noticed that my seconday (NS2) is putting quite a few ORIGIN
statements in it's file that are NOT in the primary server's file.

All of my domains are exactly like this, except that instead of '
renshawauto.net.' - I have put the correct domain name.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Yes, it does back up the mailboxes as well. The restore script also restores
the mailboxes. I did a video on a backup and restore if you care to watch them

I just wanted to ask if there is somewhere that I can look to find
more information. I saw this in my logs which made me think of your
reference in the video:

I certainly do not wish to annoy you with questions, but I didn't
think this question was appropriate for the qmail list. Please let me
know if it is ok for that list, and I won't trouble you directly.

Thanks,

Actually I will answer this on the list since it is a Qmailtoaster
related question. You can ask any Qmailtoaster related question on the
list. We even get off-track sometimes and answer DNS questions on the
list since it affects your mail server.
The root and anonymous accounts are configured in the /var/qmail/alias
directory. In there you will find .qmail-mailer-daemon,
.qmail-postmaster, .qmail-root, and occasionally .qmail-anonymous. In
those files (note that they are hidden - they have a . before the
filename!) you will find what user each aliases to. In other words,
we'll use .qmail-root as an example. In there you will probably find
&postmas...@yourdomain.com. Whenever a message is generated for "root",
it will be sent to postmas...@yourdomain.com. Each of those files can be
configured for a different user, or they can be aliased to a single file
if you want all of those messages to go to the same place.
I'll mark this as one of the topics I should follow up with a video on.
I'm sure when I made reference to it in the initial video that I had
planned on going back and covering this topic, but have not gotten
around to it yet.

You have to configure fetchmail to fetch each individual account. It
cannot grab all of them at once - it needs a username/password for each
account you want it to fetch mail for.

This could be accomplished with fetchmail. Look back in the message archives -
there were a couple discussions about this not too long ago.
