Yesterday I was unable to access www.qmailtoaster.org and since 
yesterday I'm still unable to access qtp.qmailtoaster.com.
I know that ClamAV stopped the support for versions lower 0.95. Is this 
related?

[qmailtoaster] ClamAV updates, Videos offline, and other announcements

For those that did not know, the ClamAV team released a definition 
update that disabled the older versions of clamav (0.94 and prior I 
believe). They did this because the older version had a large security 
hole. They made this announcement several months ago.


Anyway, once everyone realized they were no longer receiving mail they 
decided to update (note that 0.95.0-1.3.26 was released April 1 of 
2009.) and buried the 3M pipe the server is on. When I logged in to 
see what was going on, there were 277 people downloading the clamav 
package. This stayed pretty steady for 12 hours or so. Now, 12 hours 
later, there are still ~74 people downloading packages. I've had people 
emailing me all day and calling my office as well


Due to this, I have taken the videos off-line for a couple days to focus 
bandwidth for those that need to update their packages. If you try and 
access the video site, you will get a static HTML page explaining this 
and why. After everyone performs their belated updates, I will move them 
back online.


I will be taking some steps and reorganizing some things in the days to 
come to hopefully avoid this issue should it arrive again in the future. 
I have not decided what I will do just yet, but something will be done.
One thing suggested was mirrors for the packages. If you have some 
bandwidth to spare, send me a message off-list if you're interested in 
hosting a mirror of the current packages. If enough people donate some 
bandwidth for this, this may be something I seriously consider (would 
most likely be a DNS round-robin type thing). Another thing I may do is 
leverage sourceforge or other large repository to host the files. I'm 
kicking a few ideas around - I'll sleep on them a night or two and come 
up with something.


Anyhow, that's where we are at and why the site was slow today.

I wouldn't use vqadmin (in fact I don't even install it). It's broken in 
places. There's nothing there you really need. Use qcontrol instead if 
you really need a gui.


I don't think that really addresses your problem though.
qq soft reject is usually indicative of a problem with some aspect of 
scanning. Could be simscan, clamav, or spamassassin.

Additional strangeness:

Started getting calls this afternoon from clients that use one of my 
boxes (centos5) that they couldn't get their email, and that email sent 
to the server was bouncing. I had already done the upgrade, and it was 
runnign fine this am. Was getting the qq soft reject also on it. Did a 
reboot & it started working again. Not sure yet of the cause either. 
Also noticed that vqadmin is running *very* slowly now since the clamav 
update. I do see quite a few script errors in the httpd error log 
referring to vqadmin though. Still on the road, no time to more at the 
moment, will try updating the vqadmin later to check it.

I'm a little surprised/disturbed that this could break a QMT, even 
being out of date. While I don't endorse letting AV software getting 
out of date, new releases shouldn't break existing installations. 
Perhaps just disable itself at worse. Perhaps we need to look into 
why/how this broke QMT, and change something to prevent it from 
happening again.


I don't think I understand the problem precisely, so I'm not yet 
prepared to suggest a permanent solution. Other than upgrading of 
course. ;)

this.  So far my QMT's are doing fine (they are on 0.95 and therefore

That's for sure. I fixed up 2 that were on 0.92. They were seeing the
dreaded "qq soft reject" message in the smtp log.

I'm a little surprised/disturbed that this could break a QMT, even being
out of date. While I don't endorse letting AV software getting out of
date, new releases shouldn't break existing installations. Perhaps just
disable itself at worse. Perhaps we need to look into why/how this broke
QMT, and change something to prevent it from happening again.

I don't think I understand the problem precisely, so I'm not yet
prepared to suggest a permanent solution. Other than upgrading of
course. ;)

   I have the same issue, no more sending emails.
   I have deleted "daily.*" from clamav and disable freshclam. It works 
now.

   A temporary solution .

   I cannot download clamav-toaster-0.96.0-1.3.35.src.rpm  from 
qmailtoaster site, perhaps to much trafic

[qmailtoaster] migrate ezmlm list subscribers to another list

Hi there, I am moving a mailing list to another domain (same toaster
machine, etc). I can easily replicate the list under the new domain
(settings wise), but had a question regarding moving the users over...
is it as simple as copying the contents of the "subscribers" folder? I
just want to make sure there are no "gotchas" that I may have not
found on the net.

If you're upgrading from clamav-toaster-0.92.1-1.3.17 or previous, you 
should remove the old package first. This is one of the many things that 
qtp-newmodel does for you automatically.

Please suggest the exact procedure.

qmailtoaster site seems to be slow or down currently; so, I used
clamav-toaster-0.95.3-1.3.31.src.rpm which I have and copied it to the
broken server

 

Here's my procedure for CentOS 4:

 

1)  Copy clamav-toaster-0.95.3-1.3.31.src.rpm to /usr/src/qtms-install
directory

2)  Run the following command: rpmbuild --rebuild --with cnt40

You can update ClamAv with the help of QTO. Just type qtp-newmodel
and select Clamav to upgrade.

I had updated my server using qtp-newmodel 2 days back. And no log is
getting generate in SMTP.

Can you please provide more information?
SMTP log would be useful. What kind of load do you have on the server?
I have had this message once sending e-mails whiling having 3G mobile 
internet connection.

created are  vpopmail:vchkpw

That is not necessarily what he meant - if mail gets forwarded like  
that several times, you either have mail in mail in mail as cascaded  
attachments or you lose the trail of through whose hands the email went.


If that were desired, he'd need to disable SRS. Probably through  
recompiling qmail as I think it is a patch to that package...
