I think that on its own, ClamAV won't do this. amavisd-new should do it.
You can also use it to call the clamd daemon for the email too.

[qmailtoaster] Local mailserver & mx backup on the same machine

2012-04-01 Thread Sérgio Rosa
Hi all,

I'm trying to setup the following:

mail1 mail2
   | |
   | |
   ---|--
  |
nfs server

on the nfs server I export:
/var/qmail/control
/var/qmail/users
/home/vpopmail/domains

at the DNS level (mx setup) I have
domain a.com 10 mail1
domain a.com 30 mail2

domain b.com 10 mail2
domain b.com 30 mail1

domain c.com 10 client_mail_server
domain c.com 30 mail2

When, at domain c.com, the client_mail_server is down all mail I received
is refused with:
 failure:
Sorry._Although_I'm_listed_as_a_best-preference_MX_or_A_for_that_host,/it_isn't_in_my_control/locals_file,_so_I_don't_treat_it_as_local._(#5.4.6)/

the b.com domain is in the /var/qmail/control/rcpthosts

The idea was to have to servers that would deliver both local and perform
as MX Backup for each other, and spreading the load, but when the first mx
server is not local, things break.

Any thoughts on why?

Thank you

[qmailtoaster] Request for recomendations

2010-05-11 Thread Sérgio Rosa

Hi,

I'm giving a test drive to qmailtoaster. Now I would like to ask for
your expertise regarding the pros & cons of my actual setup and if it's
possible to migrate it to qmailtoaster or if my actual setup is no ok.

I designed a Toaster to serve my needs and it has the following
structure (is a Xen server with 2 x Intel Xeon quadcore ):

(4g ram) - 1 nfs server with ~vpopmail/domains folder
(2g ram) - 1 mysql server for hosting vpopmail database (configured with
enable many domains) and websites databases

(1g ram) - 1 dedicated Spamassassin server
(1 g ram) - 1 dedicated server for pop/pop3s/imap/impas/auth relay
(clamav & spamassassin)
(2 x 512ram) - 2 dedicated incoming mx servers (spamdyke, rbls,simscan,
chukser 2.0, clamav, spamassassin)

(4g ram) - 1 dedicated webserver for websites and webmail
(2 x 256ram) - 2 dedicated djbdns servers

I like this design and everything runs smooth up to today. I think that
separating services among servers is better in terms of performance.
What do you think?

Is this a good approach or should I consider moving all services into a
single box with lots of ram and cpu power?

Should I move from vpopmail with enable-many-domains or should I stay?
I would like to implement logging with isoqlog but it's kind difficult
because separated logs among servers, any suggestions?
How can I improve things? I liked the qmailtoaster admin interface, is
it possible to have it with my setup?

For now that's all.

Thank you and I'll be waiting for your input.
Sérgio Rosa

[qmailtoaster] Test drive, questions and thoughts

2010-05-07 Thread Sérgio Rosa

Hi all,

I'm "addicted" to Bill's Toaster for some years this part.

But it's time to test new options, and qmailtoaster was the chosen.

Install is as easy as it can be, painless! 10 Points, congrats to you all!

I would like to know why not use dovecot and why not a more recent
vpopmail version.

Thank you all,
Sergio Rosa
