[qmailtoaster] Email Duplicates
Greetings List, I have been experiencing email dupes for sometime now. On checking the archives I found some post saying it could be low memory that is causing this, at the time I was running at 1GB RAM, So I stepped to 3GB but dupes where still coming. I then upgraded my toaster hoping it would cure the problem but alas nothing. Today I decided to go under the hood and see what is happening.. Not so long I discovered the dupes had a slight change in the headers section like seen below -first email to come Content-Filter: maildrop-toaster Return-Path: akisa...@domain.com Delivered-To: domain.com-a...@domain.com Received: (qmail 19861 invoked by uid 89); 16 Aug 2011 16:40:48 - -Second email to come Return-Path: akisa...@domain.com Delivered-To: a...@domain.com Received: (qmail 19861 invoked by uid 89); 16 Aug 2011 16:40:48 - There seemed to be something else sending the second email so anyway I looked further and compared the .qmail file for two users one that was receiving duplicate and one not receiving them and this is what I found -Account not receiving duplicates [root@abram alex]# more ../akisakye/.qmail |/var/qmail/bin/preline /usr/bin/maildrop -A 'Content-Filter: maildrop-toaster' /etc/mail/mailfilter -Account receiving duplicates [root@abram alex]# more .qmail |/var/qmail/bin/preline /usr/bin/maildrop -A 'Content-Filter: maildrop-toaster' /etc/mail/mailfilter /home/vpopmail/domains/domain.com/alex/Maildir/ There was a second line in that file /home/vpopmail/domains/domain.com/alex/Maildir/ am not sure how it got there but as soon as I removed it, the duplicates stopped immediately. I am currently writing a script to help me do this edit for about 600 users I have on this system. Re: [qmailtoaster] Re: qtp-newmodel -failed clamav upgrade
Looks like you have a corrupted src.rpm file that was downloaded. Please remove it from /usr/src/qtp-upgrade/SRPMS/ and re-run qtp-newmodel. thanks, that was it, build process running now On another note, qtp-newmodel still reports No package dkms-fuse available. I had seen in the archives Eric had promised to work on that... Re: [qmailtoaster] Wiki Page for Google as Backup MX
Hello, I have been using google as a backup for slightly over a year and it works perfect. Googles spam filtering is amazing so spammers who normally target secondary mx's are sorted out. In my set up, I have about 8500 email boxes on my primary system. But you don't have to set up all 8500 email boxes on google. I just set up one with catch-all as the wiki suggested and deployed fetch mail on primary system. Fetch mail is able to sort and deliver mail to the respective email boxes... I have very happy with this setup myself. Thanks Alex http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/How_to_Setup_Google_As_Backup_Server Has anyone tested if Google as Backup MX is reliable? I've got 400 email boxes in my toaster box. Free google apps is 50 email boxes. Will this work for 400 email boxes? Will fetchmail know which mailbox to deliver the email to? - Qmailtoaster is sponsored by Vickers Consulting Group (www.vickersconsulting.com) Vickers Consulting Group offers Qmailtoaster support and installations. Sounds like a DNS issue. Your server will perform a reverse DNS lookup on the IP connecting during the initial transaction. What does your /var/qmail/supervise/pop3/run file look like? Try adding an -H to the tcpserver options to disable remote IP lookups. Thanks Jake, I've adjusted the run file like below and it connected although it took close to 40 seconds... which is tooo slow for a connection on LAN... You *could* kill all the daemons, wait for them to all close out, and then start them again, but to be honest it's just easier to reboot. [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I forgot to mention, yes I did reboot... the connections are still slow wether on LAN or remote location... Have you checked your DNS? You may also be looking up DNS names for your local IP. There's a wiki page on it: http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/Slow_pop3 If it's DNS, you'll still need to fix that anyway, instead of just trying to work around another problem. Thanks Jake, I'd not seen that page on the wiki... it has helped me however am going to check what could be the problem with the DNS here. Re: [qmailtoaster] Server Suggestions
[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi All, I'm currently running qmail on an old compaq dl 380 1st generation server. It's for a small factory with about 20 email accounts and runs basically everything except the MS-SQL server. I was looking at getting a used Dell Power Edge 2650 or 2850. Does anyone have any experience with these servers? Or any better suggestions? I want to spend about $1000 - $1500, and have dual cpu's (or maybe 1 dual-core? idk why i'm stuck on thinking I need 2 chips), about 2-4GB ram, and about 50-100gb storage. Is anyone else running qmail for small companys? And if so.. what kind of hardware are you using? IMO, dual CPUs won't help much. You'd be spending your money more wisely by getting a good P4 (3G) and as much RAM as you can. Drives are cheap - 1TB drives are down to less than $300 now, and I've been buying 400G'ers for ~$100 for a while now. But RAM is the key, if you ask me (rhyme strictly coincidental). I agree with Jake, I am running P4, 2GB RAM and 300GB hard drive for University students email. I have 12000+ accounts on the system and It runs without hiccups. ALex - Uganda Christian University. Re: [qmailtoaster] Newbie : Addressing webmail
Am not a pro either! but to get things started you need to have a DNS entry that points to your email server as webmail.xyz.com then depending on the linux distribution that you are running you need to edit your httpd.conf file to have virtual host container for webmail.xyz.com! I stand to be corrected =ALex First Off can I say how good QMT actually is, I am a serious Linux novice but managed to install with only minor problems, and all but one of them aren't stopping the mail server, in particular webmail working as I would like it too. So on to the problem I would like to address the webmail pages as webmail.xyz.com instead of www.xyz.com/webmail is this possible? if so could someone please advise me how to do it Many Thanks in advance Richard - QmailToaster hosted by: VR Hosted http://www.vr.org - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- A day that is without troubles is not fulfilling.
