[qmailtoaster] SMTP problem

Sir,
 
 till 16th my mail server is working fine
when i came in office on monday mornning 
i saw that no one can able to send mails, when i try to telnet on port 25 
it is not showing the welcome message and got stuck over there
 
this is the log of smtp

i tryed qmailctl stop and start but to luck

This is what i get from yahoo
Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com .
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

 In my qmail server port 25  connection could not
established(we have checked in local also by using telnet localhost 25 ).
But port 110 is connecting. Can any one tell me what will be the problem?.


Note : I also changed the gateway and dns But the problem still persist

The error indicates that you do not have DNS set up correctly. If you 
recently set it up, expect a few days for Yahoo to recognize it.
Are you saying you receive this error when sending from Yahoo to your 
domain?

Yes
The first error is from yahoo report
The second is from the qmail report
I think the problem is not from my server because i have smtp port open 
but i scaned the server and appear closed.I will call my provider and i 
came again if i have more problems after they open the smtp port

Good to know that SMTP is working. But you now have spamassassin 
disabled, which is not ideal. So we still need to figure out if you had 
made any changes to your Spamassassin configuration that may have caused 
this.

services are running.


The ip address or the subnet to which your ip address belongs must be 
allowed in the tcp.smtp file.

You probably need to upgrade your clam package. Check to see if you're 
running the latest (the .90 series was also okay) and then upgrade if 
necessary. Remember to remove clamav before building the new version or 
you will create a circular dependency.

As clamd gets out of date, I have found that it uses more CPU.  I upgraded 
mine recently because I was getting high CPU load and time outs on SMTP.

I have tried to go through that site, but am not very confortable with details 
on upgrade process.

What you need to do is import the key for yum to update that package that 
way.  You can manually install the application in Fedora5 as I believe you 
have by doing the following...



cd /usr/src/qtms-install
wget 
http://www.qmailtoaster.org/download/develop/clamav-toaster-0.93.3-1.3.20.src.rpm

rpmbuild --rebuild --with fdr50 clamav-toaster-0.93.3-1.3.20.src.rpm
rpm -Uvh /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/clamav-toaster-0.93.3-1.3.20.i386.rpm

You will probably need to restart the smtp service.

I forgot to mention, one issue that I have with clam is when I perform an 
upgrade, I normally have issues with the virus database.  I have had to 
delete the folder /usr/share/clamav/ before installing the newer version. 
Otherwise I have seen many errors in my log file found at /var/log/clamav.

Sounds like you have a zombie process giving the appearance of running but it 
is actually stalled or dead.

What do your logs show?
