 and add just this line:

 :10.1.1.1

Where 10.1.1.1 is the mailserver IP. Is there nothing that would go
before that? I am assuming since there is nothing before the colon -
the new box will send all email to that server for relay. Is that
correct?

Exactly. If you don't want to forward all mail, yo should specify which
domain(s) you want to forward:

somedomain.com:10.1.1.1

If the new box is receiving mails from other hosts, you should create there
domain in /var/qmail/control/rcpthosts, or they will be banned.

It seems that your old server isn't relaying your new server.
Did you config tcp.smtp with RELAYCLIENT= in your old server?

An other test you can make is to enable authentication in you

Re: [qmailtoaster] Use Qmail???

2007-06-25 Thread Dan McAllister

I am guessing that you have 172.25.13 programmed with a 24-bit netmask?
(check your /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth* files -- or the
appropriate files for your distribution). A 24-bit netmask looks like:
255.255.255.0.

If you're NOT specifying a netmask, then you're getting a 16-bit
netmask (because of the 172 in your address). If that is the case, try
specifying your tcp.smtp rule as:
172.25.:allow,RELAYCLIENT=""

Hope this helps...

Any ideas?

It seems that your old server isn't relaying your new server.
Did you config tcp.smtp with RELAYCLIENT="" in your old server?

Exactly. If you don't want to forward all mail, yo should specify which
domain(s) you want to forward:

somedomain.com:10.1.1.1

If the new box is receiving mails from other hosts, you should create there
domain in /var/qmail/control/rcpthosts, or they will be banned.

So all I would do is install the toaster on the new box - and edit
/var/qmail/control/smtproutes in that box, then edit tcp.smtp in the
original server to allow the new box to relay? What about DNS and all of
that stuff on the new box - I don't want it to receive mail, just send.

You can use /var/qmail/control/smtproutes.
It is as easy as:
:10.1.1.1
where 10.1.1.1 is the IP of your main server.

Check http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/Smtproutes

I have the toaster running on my server, and need to setup a box that
will handle billing. That box needs to be able to send e-mail, but I
want it to send it all though the main server. Can I setup the
toaster to do this - and can I do it easily? I have the box built
with CentOS 5.0 already (figured I had might as well join the Cent
community since Mandriva got kind of weird on this last version). Now
I just need to know how to do what I need - or at least be sent in the
right direction.

Yes, that will be enough

What about DNS and all of
that stuff on the new box - I don't want it to receive mail, just send.

You can filter via iptables, and do not publish it as an MX for your domain,
so it won´t receive mails from the outside.
