Pretty scary to think that Victoria is in central London. Only some of the tube stations have disabled access, although I think t! he bombings proves the point that should anything like that happened again, God forbid, and there was a disabled on board, there would be no way of getting the disabled out of the train safely. Re: [QUAD-L] books
Just my opinion, but automatic page turners are a waste of time. There is always the option of the e-book or if you want to read a book with a bookstand, you can try to find someone that will build you a bookstand. Utilizing a mousestick is also much faster and easier than page turners. However, this is purely my biased opinion. I did try a automatic page turner and founded entirely too time-consuming.BillyPS I have a few pictures of my bookstand available at the following web site. Re: [QUAD-L] Gut
I think this is true. I was fighting my waisteline before my accident. I lost a bunch of weight after my accident and even more living at my mother's ecause of stress. When I moved out and into this apartment, I probably lost more. I got down to 115 lbs. I have a pic of me at that weight and I had a very small quad belly. I cannot even get into a beautiful silk shirt my roommate from China gave to me. I used to wear it without any problem, I have not even 'tried' it on in years! I weigh ,oh, about 30 pounds more and know I could not get into it now! I was doing pretty good untilk my mother introduced me to a wonderful Belgium chocolate made for Aldi's. It is a huge bar about 12 inches long and costs less than $2!! It was too good to be true, but it was! I can tell a difference in my quad belly that it may have grown some. I always weigh when I go to the doc every month. So next week, I will know, ugh. take care, Dana and Rocco [EMAIL PROTECTED] - Original Message - From: Stacy Harim [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: quad-list@eskimo.com; Ol' Man River [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, August 06, 2005 12:10 AM Subject: Re: [QUAD-L] Gut I'm a para at T 7. I live near the ocean where the water table is high and flood concerns. Anyhow I also push quite a bit at school and I diet. I'm not small person with a large bone structure. I do have a belly. My arms, legs, and face are fairly thin but my belly is hard to get rid of. I have seen many people in chairs that are thin but I think they are small people in general. If the remote (mom's) computers are running XP PRO then you can enable remote desktop. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/mobility/getstarted/remoteintro.mspx it's free and buit-into XP PRO. I use it all the time for the same reason you want, to control mom's computer. I've used it to remotely control my uncle's computer in Hawaii too. [QUAD-L] stem cells, ethics, and greed
I have been reading a lot about the stem cell arguments. I have tried to stay open minded and not jump to conclusions. I was checking up some back grounds on positions regarding Embryonic Stem Cell research and ran into some interesting facts. Tommy Thompson helped to design the presidents policy on ES cells. He is a former governor of Wisconsin. University of Wisconson was the place where ES cell lines were first established in 1998. They were the first to patent the lines and processes to establish those lines. Tommy Thompson is a little more than an alumni of UW. The way the presidents policy works is by requiring other labs to use existing stem cell lines which the University of Wisconsin has a near monopoly on. The ethical argument against ES cell research has nothing to do with anyone's beliefs. It is just greed. The government is using the religious right like a cheap hand puppet. This is about protecting UW 's patent. The ethical question that the country is faced with is how do we get rid of such immoral and unethical people as this administration. We are being milked like some stupid cow. Our money is going into the pockets of every friend GWB has ever had. He is killing American soldiers. He has elderly people going to Canada to get affordable meds. We are sending money overseas for oil faster than we can earn it. I AM SAD! By the way, there are no uncontaminated ES cell lines. Total federal spending on ES cell research to date, just under 10 million dollars. The energy bill passed by congress has a provision to build a 250 million dollar bridge to an island where fewer than 50 people live. The words "ethics, morality, and Washington DC" should never occur in the same sentence. john

Re: [QUAD-L] Re: I've NEVER been so uncomfortable
I've done some research on power wheelchairs and concluded that my next chair will be from Invocare and get into the Storm Series of their chairs. I've heard from my Vendor here in California anyway's that they have a good report for holding up to everyday going places and also may just have the accessaries for a Quadriplegic may need. Try their website : http://www.invocare.com and see if there is a chair for you their. I'm sure they have a 1-800 to call and Amye has a good thing for you to do too. Get a prescription from the Doctor and also let him know that the chair your in is very uncomfortable for you to sit in all the time you spend mobile. I sure hope the Quad-List ain't flooded with un-wanted e-mail now. If people really need funds for such things as cancer, they don't look on the Intranet for them without a Legit home or P.O.Box number to send funds too. [QUAD-L] Glad to see you made it
High Greg, Glad you made it through your ordeal of how you got hurt and still here to enjoy whatever Life might else will throw at you. I am a C-6 C-7 Quadriplegic from a car accident that I caused on my own and thankful I didn't hurt anyone else. I guess that's how I deal with it so easy after the first 2 years that is. I don't need tears in my keyboard or in my eyes trying to write you. Not sure what to say the first time out but, these words that mean a lot to me, "we both are here still to raise a little h-e- double L and enjoy each day to its fulless". I've used it to remotely control my uncle's computer in Hawaii too.
