Re: [QUAD-L] the bag vs. the valve
I've never tried a valve , would it go at the end of tube then need drained every so often? I have always used the large size bed-bag and drain it every morning and each night at bedtime. I hang the bag on the side of my chair, with the urine showing side turned in towards me and I keep a black leather pouch type carrier hanging over it that helps cover it pretty much-- in that I store my I.D. cards money and so on, Also that leather carrier helps to hold the bag on and in place while driving around and reclining . A friend showed me A cover some people use to store the urine bag in, if a person is bothered by it---some even have cloth matching covers for the urine tube going to the catheter bag. Dan H. Re: [QUAD-L] Voice-recognition experts
Sorry everybody, I didn't notice I did the website wrong until after I sent it. Below you will find the correct website address. Hey everybody- Whether you are disabled or able-bodied, this applies to everyone. These guys are great! I've been working with them for several years with Dragon Dictate, Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 9, and my environmental control unit. Jon and Tim know what they're doing, and are VERY helpful. I'm so happy that they decided to open a business of their own specializing in voice recognition. They have always helped me out, and still do, whenever I have an issue. They helped me with my last one. They are very polite, respectful, knowledgeable, patient, helpful, and are determined to work with you and whatever voice recognition needs or issues you have. Including purchasing, installing, training, and customer service. From my own experience with them, if there's something going on and you have no idea why, they'll do everything they can to figure it out and fix it. They understand how people like us need voice-recognition, and needed to be working especially. I've worked with different guys who specialize in voice recognition, and none of them were as good or as genuine as Jon and Tim are. They really want your voice recognition things to work properly. Next time you need to take your voice recognition business somewhere, I highly, highly, highly recommend taking it to them. Whether you are disabled or not, you won't regret it! Re: [QUAD-L] Fried Turkeys
Believe me, it hasn't been easy. Up until around four years ago I was one of those individuals who loved things so hot that my nose would run when I ate it. However, a flareup of rosacea ended that, but I still liked to enjoy a little bit of hot red pepper on my pizza and other things every now and then. Now that I have developed an allergy, to something I used to use all the time, it is extraordinarily difficult. I mean most chicken rubs have crushed red pepper in them. I have grown increasingly intolerant over the last year. I ate too spicy chicken sandwiches from McDonald's and had an enormous allergic reaction. My doctor has me carrying around an epi pen and Benadryl. Life is getting more complicated. Quadius PS I used that saying, life is like a toilet roll, a couple of weeks ago and people thought it was hilarious. I at first gotten it from a blog, but I guess he didn't coin the phrase. :-) On 12/5/07, KK [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Allergic to peppers? That would make my life not worth living. hey Q, I have a bag that looks similar for mine as well (although mine is beaded, fringy, and purple silk for what I wear skirts). However, I would love to have one made like that, for use with pants or slacks. Do you put the tube over your waistbands and if so how do you hide it? That's my biggest issue, even when I wear skirts, is that when I've put it in a bag, I can't hide the tube. Lucinda C-4,5 complete July 31, '05 Mpls., MN - Never miss a thing. [QUAD-L] bowell program components
Well.. I do my bowell routine every other morning. I use majic bullets , sometimes 2 if its goin slow. The night b4 a routine I start by taking a lil bisacodyl pill, a couple majic cleanse capsules. Then I try to drink a beer, eat a yougurt and eat a small bowell of raisan bran sometimes with prunes. I drink alot of water and fluids during the day and eat plain cherios most mornings. I do a couple hours of excercise at least 3 times a week maybe more if weather allows. I think many folks have trouble because they dont do enough digital stimulationif your not going in 20 mins you may need stimulation to break it loose. Also sit on the bowell chair long enough. Another thing you have to consider is you dont want your stool to loose..or too hard. Thats a struggle every quad goes through. I always thought that with all the smart people out there we could come up with a better method of evacuating bowells for paralyzed individuals. I thought one time hell it would be nice to have some kind of a valve or sureproof way to avoid accidents. Maybe an electronic implant to at least tell you how full you are or even better some sort of stimulation electrodes to get things going. Ive heard of some sort of flushing system you can do.I think Dave does something like that. Too me Im tired of hearing about b.s. about stem cell and all that..I want to hear about better methods to live with the injury. Every person in a chair needs to get out intheir city or town and become seen. This will force society to see us as real people with lives. In turn more cures, drugs and methods will happen. ron c7
